Saw this in my comp copy of Gamepro...anybody have any experience with it, or seen it on stands? Although the manufacturer is kind of suspect with quality, the concept looks really good on paper.

I mean, heck, if I could set it up like an Xbox controller for FPS games or toss the analogues to the sides for Katamari, and have it work well...it'd be all worth it.

damn, that is cool as shit.. if they had an extra one that threw two of the shoulder buttons on the face for capcom fighters it would be perfect.

I bow down before the people who made this. I preach about things like button customizability needing to be standard in all games (or possibly as an option in the console's main menu), but physical button remapping? Never even crossed my mind as a possibility.

Oh hey... that's kinda cool. I wonder what they (game developers) could do with that if it was the standard controller for next gen...

Can you swap right and left sticks for southpaw play in non-southpaw games (Splinter Cell: PT would be a good example). First company to provide this wins my dollars. It's a step in the right direction.

Nice! I've been hoping for a controller that lets the user swap the position of the D-pad and left analog stick; this controller just leapfrogs that.

When there was talk about the 'special' feature of the Gamecube controller I thought it may have changeable layouts. Or it was my idea and hope it would it would have swappable faceplates. Switching buttons layout and d-pad/stick would make any game more playable.

That's interesting. I wonder what the quality of the buttons, dpad, and analog sticks are.

Probably crap. -_-

You can tighten them or loosen them accordingly. I've found them online for as low as 15 bucks so it can't be TOO expensive. I hope it makes it into regular controllers next gen.

God, this thing would be too good for GunValkyrie.

And the buttons can be raised/lowered. The analogs are rubberized.

I have a VERY good feeling something like this will be in the real Revolution... swappable faceplates... like the left side will be your standard D-pad, analog setup, but you can swap the right side... with different things like a touchpad (for FPS), a rotary controller (for racing), the standard 4 buttons+C-Stick, and a 6 button setup for fighters...

Checked EB, but no dice on actually finding the thing. I may order it from the website and review it for Gaming-Age. Maybe.

Okay, saw one in GameStop and gave it the once-over. Looked and felt sturdy, but a little heavier than the standard for some odd reason.

The wells for the pods are deep, too...

Look for a review somewhere before the 10th or so, because that's when I plan on getting some tradein from my current reviews.

On my lunchbreak today, I visited the local Game Rush and didn't find the Phoenix Revolution Controller :-(

Matlock, do you remember how much this controller goes for? $19.99?

MSRP is $20, but GameStop had it at $24.99.

Also: Phoenix Revolution + Psi-Ops will be love.

EDIT: The shoulder buttons are bigger and wider than on the standard controller, and not as raised. Looks pretty solid all-around.

Awesome!

Especially the adjustable analog tension.

Kudos to the designers, I have no doubt that they are either gamers, or have actually listened properly to gamers issues with controllers.

Tension... OMG

Seriously... excellent idea. Even if they don't SUPPLY consoles with them... having it as an option will be nice (made first party, of course).

(I foresee a Wavebird type thing... but I also see having a choice between a Wavebird and one of these... I'll NEVER see wireless and customizable... OR WILL I!?!!)

I don't know if anyone remember's my post about this idea long ago. They seem to be reading these forums!

Or it's just that it was bound to happen.

You snooze...you lose.

You could be rich.

I have yet to read any impressions on the thing. Could still suck. Amazingly cheap (price) tells me it can only be so good. Seems too good to be true.

Just picked one of these up...

Haven't opened it yet. Still seems too good to be true. But as along as it's easy to hold and works, being able to adjust the tension on the sticks is worth the price of admission.

Tighter sticks in AC 4/5 will make the game and many others, even more fun.

Anyone else get one? Impressions?

Cool. Short of opening it and using my imagination, I can't put it through its paces until this evening. Let me know if there are any particulr games you want me to try with it.

My main concern is PC/GC/XBOX compatability via an adapter. The Mad Catz RetroCon let me down in that regard.

Other than any FPS title and Katamari Damacy (Xbox/GC style config, and analogues on top left and right setups, respectively), I can't think of any at the current time.

Why do people always do that shit? "HELLO I MAKE 3 REPLIES IN A ROW IN THE SPAN OF HALF A HOUR SAYING I GOT TEH HOT ITEM IN QUESTION BUT YA KNOW I DONT HAVE TIME TO TAKE A FUCKIGN PAIR OF SCISSOR TO OPEN IT UP AND TEST IT, I'M SO BUSY AND SHITZ SO WAIT UNTIL TONIGHT."

Please!

I wasnt aimed the post directly at DCB, it was just something that I had in mind, I'm tired of seeing those kind of replies in forums.

That is a shockingly brilliant idea. Amazing that it was made by a third-party controller company...

I feel that this idea is half baked at best. Conceptually it's sound, but who is going to do more with it than switch the d-pad and left analog? Who is ever going to stick the 4 buttons on the left side?

What I've been wanting to see is a controller that lets me choose how any buttons are on the face, and how they are arranged. Switch between a four-cross and a capcom-six. Choose the number and type of trigger switches. I think this type of thing suits PC gaming best, where there are no controller standards. It also might have to involve magic.

I think you may need a controller comprised of proprietary Lego pieces. :D

Wow... This thing has some weight!

Still at work, but opened it up to put the pods in and see how the tension works.

I love the tension adjusters! So smart. And it makes them really stiff. I like how you can do it on the fly, and not have to take the pods off to make them tighter.

There's even an invert switch! Totally forgot about that feature.

The pods click in once you twist them slightly. Very easy. I like having one analog tighter than the other...

So far, so good.

has anyone played it yet? You sonsofbichees.

Also, any word on an Xbox version or at least how they work with a controller converter?

This thing is great. Makes GT3 so much better control-wise. I like how the face buttons are raised as well. They're smaller than the buttons on the DSII, but it actually feels better that way.

The d-pad is wonderful as well. Still testing it with games tho.

Just tried Outrun 2 with it via the MagicBox and the game went ape sh!t at the select menu. Not good.

MAME(PC) likes it tho!

I just went out and bought this based on the recommendations of this thread. This controller is the real deal. The ability to adjust the sensitivity of the thumbsticks is AWESOME. I tried it out on Kinetica and it's great. The sticks are about the height of the Xbox sticks. I configured it to look like an Xbox pad as in DaCocoBrova's picture and I'm in heaven. Must buy.
