A chimera is defined as:"An organism, organ, or part consisting of two or more tissues of different genetic composition, produced as a result of organ transplant, grafting, or genetic engineering."

The idea is to take parts from different animals and combine them into one. Tips for making a good chimera:

Match poses and colors. http://www.corbis.com will be a godsend. (Sign up is free and it removes the watermarks.)
Match the hue. Image> Adjustments> Hue/Saturation in PS.
Open mouths or expressive faces generally make them really funny.
