I started shaving the frank and beans, and cutting the rest very short a few years back and I won't ever go back. It feels better in my hand and with my wife and it also looks bigger. It's also much cleaner feeling and less sweaty during the hot days. There are no downsides.

Also, the pedo comments are weird. I have a few girl cousins and they ran around naked a lot on family beach trips when they were little. Hair is not the defining characteristic of an adult vulva.

Also in greek and roman cultures the phallus was pretty important. Pubic hair would have taken away from it. Hell most western ancient art featuring a nude penis doesn't have pubes. But it's probably the same reason I mentioned for the Romans/Greeks.
