It's well known that a full beard is causally related to intelligence

Nope, apostrophe is in there. Comes before the number: '90s. Apostrophe denotes omitted numbers.

'90s is fine on it's own, but when people say "I'm a '90s kid", isn't it another way of saying "I belong to the '90s", so having the apostrophe between the 0 and the s kinda makes sense (to me anyway).

So we'll go with '90's?
