So, it was billed as the final film.
Then the post-credits scene happened.

Technically.. They said "The Final Adventure....... ...... .......... Begins"
So they can do two or three more movies based off what happens here. I.e. The curses being broken, Will coming back, etc.
Also just want to make a point in saying that final island that the go to that glows like "stars" was beautifully done.
I at least, though it was unique.
I'm a bit surprised Keira had no lines in the film at all.
Jack had no reason to fear Salazar, he didn't know he was cursed. For all he knew Salazar was dead and buried. When Henry told Jack the message he didn't even remember him.
It's like the writers put no thought into this movie at all.
that's wrong. Jack favours freedom over death, that's why he chose not to become the captain of the flying dutchman in AWE. Ipso facto his biggest fear is being shackled for eternity, probably why he left Cruz character twice.Jack's greatest fear is death. That's why he wanted to become captain of the Dutchman in AWE. Salazar is death incarnate.

Jack could have become the captain and recruited Will.Sure, his greatest desire is freedom, but that doesn't mean death isn't his greatest fear. That's why he was in conflict with himself in that movie and he couldn't make up his mind what he was going to do until Davy Jones made it up for him by dealing a mortal wound to Will. Then he had to let Will become the Dutchman's captain to save his life.
Jack had zero charisma on this one
Its not going to end as long as depp is aliveMy hope is that Gore comes back to do Pirates 6 and 7, filmed together, to fully end the series.

I don't think they were going for historical accuracy on that one.Although, I find it weird that pirates except for Barbossa don't know how to navigate via stars. I thought that was a thing even in medieval times.
So, is the fan consensus that this is better than 4 and maybe 3? That would be good enough for me, given that I'm super nostalgic for those first two flicks.
Otherwise, might just fire up Black Sails instead (never seen it - heard it's great).
On Stranger Tides has a low-rent, direct-to-DVD feel. Superfluous plot, phoned-in performances, and a massive reduction in scope.

It was but Pirates likes to be goofy, though not everyone would regardless.
I think Jack, Barbossa and maybe Mr Gibbs would be the only ones really in these movies that would know some of it(since the series doesn't actually do ship roles and rankings).
Really enjoyed this one. 3rd best PotC movie.
Seeing Will and Liz again and hearing the old themes were great. Carina was a great character and her reveal with Barbossa was awesome, it just sucks that Barbossa died again. Seeing the side characers like Gibbs and Marty were nice, but replacing those royal navy guys with Pintel and Ragetti would've made things better.
My theory on the post credits scene:
Snice breaking the trident broke all the oceans curses, Will doesn't have to do the Dutchman job anymore. But SOMEBODY has to ferry the souls of the dead, right? So by some mystic mumbo-jumbo, the previous captain is resurrected to continue the job, resulting in a very pissed off Davy Jones who is stuck with the job and goes after Will and his kid for revenge.
There's a reason Barbossa in the movie is currently the most powerful pirate/privateer on the seas and all the other pirates are pretty goddamn stupid.Although, I find it weird that pirates except for Barbossa don't know how to navigate via stars. I thought that was a thing even in medieval times.
Haven't seen anyone preferring 4.So, is the fan consensus that this is better than 4 and maybe 3? That would be good enough for me, given that I'm super nostalgic for those first two flicks.
Thanks for pointing this out. I don't remember where it played in the movie, but this is probably my favorite song from the soundtrack right now.Carina had a great theme. Sure it's basically an original theme reworked, but it sounds nice and works because it's implied that maybe she becomes a pirate. "My name is Barbossa."
The blu rays are on sale, so I went ahead and grabbed the first three since they're sure to look and sound stunning on disc. I remember enjoying them in the theater but I was so young, I really don't remember anything about them, aside from how long AWE was. Think I was in eighth grade when that one came out, so it's been a while lol.
I'm deciding if I should go ahead and get On Stranger Tides since it's also 10 bucks and it'd annoy the hell out of me if I don't own the series, but I've never seen it, and going by the reaction to it, I shouldn't.
