With Switch 2 games costing $80-$90 what could this mean for PS5 games going forwards? Could major games like GTA VI retail for as much as $100?

Yes, and be happy if that's the only game costing that.

Switch games won't be costing that much. It's up to the stores to decide. MSRP. People really want to believe whatever fits the mood.

NO and you're a big fat retard if you think it will be
There absolutely will be at least one edition thats $100. Deluxe Edition with Shark cards and Skins and such. You'd be a mong for thinking otherwise.

Base game my guess is $90.

Obviously will be $99.99 not $100. lol.

I would guess a $10 bump in price at least. But there is more than one way to empty the wallets of gamers.

The familiar DLC, microtransaction and season pass methods come to mind. It's not about what you charge up front but how much flows from the wallet in total. An extra $10 up front is not as good as a $20 extraction a year later.

$99.99 base for sure.

Tariffs are already accelerating us in this direction. Expect Sony to announce price increases soon.

They are and they will.

If you buy the bundle you get Mario Kart World Tour for 49.99 a 30 dollar savings.

The price bumps are for lames. Smart shoppers always win. Buy once, cry once, the quality will be remembered long after the price is forgotten, and selling your old kit is how you stay in the game. These are words to live by.

There are stores selling them cheaper.

If the game delivers with new gameplay mechanics and doesn't give a fuck about anyone's feelings, then I will pay 100 for the base game alone. I am sick of these loonytoon ugly character designs and politics.

Yeah if a game is the second coming of Jesus then i'll pay top dollar to play it, always have. Gotta be really fucking good though.

Luckily Nintendo delivers more often than not.

Not sure, it could literally release anywhere from free-$100 and still be profitable. Prior to the Switch 2, i would've said no way. Like yeah, they *could*, but why would they want to risk any negative press and sales? But with Nintendo taking huge heat and pushing for $80-90, suddenly pushing to $100 isn't as crazy. I think, I'll still bet $90 or less, but who knows? All I know is no matter the price, I won't be buying it, not a fan of Rockstar's games, they all feel dreadfully boring to play.

I think it will, and I think all the rumours have been planted by r* PR to plant the seed for it in the minds of the normies.

Well yeah no shit, just like every other major release there will an Overpriced Edition.

The base game won't even be $90. It is going to end up as one of the biggest cultural events of the decade. You guys are fucking mental if you think they're going to throw in a divisive wedge with the cost :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Grifters, influencers, shills, whatever YT bullshitters are getting to the lot of you. Get some logic back. You're fucking losing it.

What you thinking? $70?

If Nintendo is charging U$90 for a U$50mi game, R* should charge U$ 200 or even more, they need to recoup that inflation too.

70$ for base game and 30-40$ for online. They will be sold separately, imo. I honestly think that is reasonable for what they are offering. They will probably include a bundle for both and people will get unreasonably upset

The gaming community has done all the leg work for Take Two in setting the expectations for this lol

They could do this now and it wouldn't be a total shock...great work...

Why are people so eager to take it from these companies?

The most enticing one to purchase will be. Like a deluxe edition that's a no brainer. Standard will be $79.99 or $89.99

No way they are separate. They need Online to be a huge hit more so than the single player. You don't get that by pay walling it.
I'm sure they'll be 100$ bundle version or something around that. It would be silly for Rockstar to pass up selling their online version of GTA 6 for 30 or 40$. That extra money would add billions in revenue over the years

Take2 still have never have made GTA V online F2P, even tho you think it would make sense. They are going to make you pay for their gaas game separately, or as a costly bundle

It just comes with the base game right? Seems like the best way to make money if you ask me. Its the reason GTAV has been a top seller every week since it released.

It's not. All of studios nowadays are not releasing their gaas games as F2P. They are looking to generate extra revenue from upfront sales. Nobody is buying GTA 5 in 2025 for single player. They are playing for the ability to play online

I wouldn't even be shocked if Take2 adds a monthly subscription service to play GTA 6 online, on top of selling it separately. Again, it's billions in missed upfront revenue that Take2 would generate

They are buying GTAV for the Shark card as its cheaper than buying it on its own, at least it was last time I checked.

Everyone Is buying GTAVI for the single player, intially at least. If you don't include the MP with that then you'll cut off a load of potential new players. The big money comes from MTX not an upfront purchase.

We'll see I guess, both ways could work.

Nowadays, GTA online is so huge it is bigger than the single player could ever be. And I'm sure Rockstar will delay the release of online at least a month after launch

Take2 could always go back and attach GTA 6 online to the base game. But I am very confident they will want to monetize the online, at least at launch. They too greedy not to

Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two Q2 FY24 Conference Call:
"It's our strategy here to deliver much more value than what we charge consumers. We want to make sure the experience is first-class, and the nature of the experience is not just the quality of what we offer, it's also what you pay for it."

If they end up charging $80 for GTA 6, they will justify it with the quality or scope/length of the game.
On the other hand, Strauss justified $50 for RDR1 by saying it includes Undead Nightmare and thus the scope/length justifies the price.

It is not so obvious to me that "Rockstar can get away with $90 price" but the game trailer has 250 Million views on YouTube, and charging the same $70 price as Silent Hill 2 feels too cheap.

I don't give a shit, i'm not even buying games at 60/70/80 so come on let's sell it at 120/150, i'll just wait like i always do...
