Not comparing, just telling how the mass market works. You can't even compare Apple with Nintendo and phones with consoles. lol
Obvious there's exeptions, like new Mario Kart and Cyberpunk, but the majority of games still can be played on Swicth 1 and with high prices and economy in the current state, I doubt Switch 2 will get the 15 million mark of Nintendo.
Consoles don't appeal to "mass market". In the first week iPhone 16 sold more than 30 million units. You can never compare this to any console. Not comparing, just telling how the mass market works.
I'm not sure that Switch 2 will receive the majority of third-party games like people are wondering. There's a really weak CPU in that device and right now most games aren't even announced for Switch 2.We will see, but the only new first party game that I'm aware of that is still possible on Switch 1 is Metroid 4. Of course, it hasn't even launched yet, there will be more Switch 2 exclusive games.
Also I thought Switch 2 would make possible all sorts of Series S grade titles that were a bit too rich for the Switch 1? I would put it in a whole different class of hardware. Just like every gen new exclusive games should end up being the main driver...while they continue to throw a few bones to the 150m old NS1s

There's a lot of already announce third-party games that have not been reveal for Switch 2. People are thinking too much about Cyberpunk how it can be a type of signal, but CDPR is only a exception, in the same way that they have port Witcher 3 for Switch.
I voted yes. People get confused by everything and others are deliberately obtuse. Also, I wish the poll was public so the people who voted "Yes" could be named and shamed
Who is talking about that? lolIf Witcher 3 was exception on Switch 1, and that system was a success, then why does Switch 2 need any more third party support than that anyway to be a success? All they would require are their own first party exclusive games.

Uh you?Who is talking about that? lol

That was my point. And I never talk about success.
I just answered to the other guy. I never said that I think Switch 2 will not reach Nintendo's goals for not having the majority of third-party games. That's fair enough. The other point about games we will just brush under the rug. That's cool lol
No, the casual Switch user just won't care.
Just as with the Wii, they have their device and will see no reason to spend even more money get the next one.
Now that I think about it, PS is the only console to ever use a sequential number. It's going to be the first time Nintendo has used a sequential number in the name of a new console.
20% PreciselyTheir are some incredibly stupid people in this world so unfortunately, I'm sure a very small percentage may not immediately understand.
That said the large majority of people should see and recognize/understand what the "2" means easily.
Playstation 2 looked completely different than a Playstation 1, and they also used a different design language. The Switch 1 and 2 boxes look exactly the same just with a 2 in Switch 2 box. You can bet thers gonna be alot of switch 1 being sold to moms thinking they buying the new console. The name of the console is not the problem here, its the design language they are using that is exactly the same. Even the PS5 and PS5 digital only had completly different box colors. That's a pretty big "2".
Wii U is confusing. Xbox One X is confusing. "Switch 2" is no more confusing than "playstattion 2".
They have their device....which won't play the latest and hottest Mario Kart all of their friends, family and internet is talking about. No, the casual Switch user just won't care.

True. Same reason there's warning on plastic bags to not put them over your head. Not a few people will.
Those who think this is impossible, haven't seen a real person in the wild for some time.
Yeah, they are locked up so people will just ask for the Switch 2 and be handed one, same as iPhones where they ask for the specific one.I think people already get used to similar packaging between generations

I usually don't watch many ads for anything- and always wonder where the fucking money goes when I hear huge marketing budgets- but I saw one Switch2 ad recently and just thought their talking points were weak. Magnetic connection! Was that a problem or a big problem with Switch? You can use the controller as a mouse, showing no game. Videochat via an additional camera. And I think something about display bigger? Won't matter for the first wave of sales by the more informed and hyped people, many fanboys and -girls but that ad felt unconvincing and lackluster in showing the upgrade it should be.Nah, there's so much TV ads to explain the difference

But not right behind the name.... And we all know the average IQ of the average consumer. Also the packaging and form factor is extremely similar I don't know what their marketing department was thinking.....There's a giant 2 on the box.
Well, Switch 1 has Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which sold gangbusters and got tons of DLC tracks. World will really need to stand out, because a lot of people are perfectly happy with just playing the old game.Everything you say it's true but Switch 2 has Mario Kart and Switch 1 doesn't
there are they are just duct taped togetherI'm pretty sure some people will think 2 Nintendo switches are in the box.

In reality, it's no different than PS5/XSX where when You buy a physical game you will STILL NEED physical space on your hard drive to actually play the game. Also, the Game Key Cards will be the cherry on top.
Between that and the price hikes, I dont think they have the high ground they think they have.Microsoft confuse the hell out of most people. It's almost like they are trying to make things difficult on purpose lol...
So the vast majority of Nintendo customers actually.Unless the customer has never played on a PS5/Xbox series it's business as usual
People ask for Mario on PlayStation at GameStop all the time. Parents who don't give a crap will see one is cheaper and looks EXACTLY the same. No, people can be stupid, but not THAT stupid.
my point I kinda missed to make was that it felt almost like the 2 was hardly explained, if it really is something entirely new and not just like OLED another iteration of the same thing. 2 is an obvious number, but PS2, 3, 4, all looked actually different. Much clearer that those were new products. Even revisions of Playstations looked more different than Switch 2 does compared to Switch. Here it's a clear number, so no U nonsense, but could almost be interpreted like the VR1 version 2 thing which was for a niche product so went past the masses anyway. I guess most don't know the differences of original VR1 and VR1-2, and only the real VR2 looks different enough that people just get that it's a new thing. Switch2 has the same problem but must make people understand that it is new hardware and not just a new version of Switch. I doubt that can really cost sales, at worst some akward returns and replacements for the right gen of Switch will happen.Everything you say it's true but Switch 2 has Mario Kart and Switch 1 doesn't
We'll see if that's enough as a difference. Switch 1 opened the road to a wide audience that maybe now is interested more in Mario Kart than the new features (wich, once again, are weak except for the technical ones wich are almost unseen in TV Ads...)
