I currently own a Sony 55w905 TV and I'm very pleased with it, I mean when I'm gaming or watching a 2D or 3D BR or Netflix, I have zero complaints with my TV. Before that, I owned a Sony 46w3000 (2007 - 2013) and it was also a great TV in my opinion.
Since it's 2016 and I bought my 905 at launch in 2013 (so 3 years) is it worth switching to a 4K TV or should I wait for one or two more years ? On one hand, 3 years lifespan for a 2200 TV seems a little on the short side. On the other hand, I am caught in a 4K hype. I can't make up my mind.
Is there a real difference between 4K and 1080p on a 55" screen (I can't go higher than that due to physical constraints in my living room) ? Like the gap from SD to HD or is it something more subtle ? What should I do ?
Oh, I use a Xbox One, Xbox 360, a Dreamcast and an Xbox. I also own a Xbox One S 2TO which I currently don't use and a bdp-s790 blu ray player and 3D BR was the reason I switched for the 905 since my w3000 still worked perfectly (and still is) when I moved it to my bedroom.
Should I go OLED or stay with Sony ?
Thanks for your input.
