I've rarely had issues hearing where I'm shot from. If it's one sniper shot then maybe, but usually by the second shot I know the rough direction. Quickly spinning your camera around when the initial shots ring out helps a lot.
I play with some people who for the life of them can't locate shots while me and brentech will instantly know exactly where they're coming from. it's strange, but i wonder if some of it has to do with general hearing abilities (or the obvious quality of headphones)

So it's either pay for an expo with the profits from the game (that is still in development and will be for quite some time) or use that money to give each dev a gigantic salary limiting their options on what they could do in the future.

They want to do this side thing and they seemingly don't want to use the profits that are currently going right back into developing the game, so they set up a separate thing that will fund this separate event

People who suddenly get a lot of money can often do a lot of dumb shit that makes that money disappear real fast. Starting to spend a bunch of it on an expo before the game is close to finished when there's so much better things that money could go to is one of those things.

I just don't really see the problem in letting the community help to fund an event by buying keys for crates which are completely optional and doesn't actually add anything to the gameplay in the game. Just like people buying compendiums for Dota to raise the price pool for the Internationals, even though Valve is a company that has an enormous sum of money. Only with PUGB, that money is currently going straight back into the development of the game, which it should.

The other problem with asking people to pay for items (in an Early access, unfinished game I might add) is that they have said before they wouldn't do it. One sure way to piss off your customers is saying you won't do something and then doing it.
 
You on an SSD? My wife had that issue until I upgraded her to an SSD and she only has 4GB of DDR3.

Also, sometimes the inventory freeze is just server lag.

Yeah, it's installed on a SSD, using Win10 and 8GB DDR3.
When starting a game it's using roughly 3gb, but maxes out when I have opened the inventory a couple of times.
It seems like such a stupid bug which greatly affects how the game runs and I have no idea how to get rid of it. I can't even just restart the game after every round, since it maxes out within the first few minutes.
 
I'm kind of still out of the loop with all these upcoming crate changes, so can someone tell me what's the best option w/ spending BP currently? Should I keep saving, or does it not matter if I blow it after every Sunday reset? I know specific crates will require "keys" going forward but I just don't get what's happening to BP. Thanks in advance!
 
Are there supposed to be visible footprints? I have a pretty old rig so maybe I'm missing out but I have thought that it would be awesome if traversing through tall grass, bushes, etc left behind traces (like footprints) that people could use to track for hunting squads. Tire marks on grass and sand would be cool too, but I imagine that's a crazy amount of work.

Oh I meant like, if they added that in.

This game is way more fun than I expected it to be. Played my first solos today and got 2nd and 3rd (much luck involved). The final circles are the best kind of intensity. Love it!

I have a pretty good headset and sometimes it's hard for me to place shots. I also jump through the roof the first shot as well.

I think some people are just horrible at placing shots that's all there is to it, or just very casual playing.

Ive won a bunch of squad games and 4-5 duo games. But finally a solo win. Ive probably only played 10 or so solo matches but it still feels very nice!

Edit: as a sound enginer, I can conform the sound in this game is shit. don't even bother with people telling you otherwise. panning is off. left right is bugged.

She's a musician and audiophile. She uses it for other things not just pubg. She's also aware of diminishing returns and some of her most used headphones are $100-200

Instructions on how to fix it
Right click the audio speaker icon. Select the headphone or DAC you are using under Playback, and right click it. Select properties. Then click "supported formats". Then at the top under Encoded Formats, make sure to uncheck "Dolby Digital". For whtever reason, PUBG fucks up stereo Speaker L/R channels if Dolby Digital is selected here

Absolutely. Considering only ~2-3 weeks ago I didn't get along with the Kar98 and much preferred the SKS, once I spent some time with it and it clicked with me there was no going back. If I get a Kar98 and 4x scope I go into beast mode, find a nice sniping spot and go to work. The ability to one-shot level 2 helmets cannot be understated.

My favourite sniping spot is on the hills just south of Rozhok/east of the school. If the white circle is in the north of the map, everyone who lands in or around Pochinki has to cross that wide-open field with no cover and it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

My only decent Kar98 shots were all in squads so they feel very underwhelming as I often can't kill the person after downing them.

Yeah it always looks strange when I watch Squad games and they have to hit someone 4-5 times with an M24 to finish them off.

What's even more ridiculous is their reasoning for the paid crates! Somehow they need to raise money to fund the competition expo. You've sold 5 million copies and have 30 people working on the game.... What have you done with all that revenue?!!

DotA and Rocket League tournaments are funded in the same way and no one carries on like a pork chop about that.

Or this game employing a lot more sounds than typical shooters throws people off. Whereas usually you only have to worry about a single gun shot sound of varying volume and an impact sound, depending on distance and origin and your location, you'll hear the bullet's crack.

I find a lot of times that if someone is behind say a tree or rock, shooting to their left or right will make them think the bullet has come from that direction and they'll rotate around the cover and expose themselves for an easy kill.

Came in second tonight for first time ever. Before my best was about 6. I messed up and let the guy know my location, otherwise I could have won. Hindsight, ugh.

I think I just lost my cool because I didn't realize it was just down to 2 people for a bit and the moment I noticed I got stupid. Still, I am getting better...or just lucky.

Love the game, but few other titles can tax and stress me so, which is why I only play a game or two every couple days.

What do you mean by short grass? There is some grass that conceals you at near range, even with very low settings, unless it's been changed.

That said, maybe they were prone because it's better than nothing in an empty field. :(

I managed to hit a...400ish meter shot with an SKS/8x the other day. Didn't kill him, but I managed to compensate properly(He was running) and hit him. Enough to freak him out, make him stop, and have other people catch up to him.

I'm getting better at the compensating shot thing.

yup! just takes practice! watching streams helps alot with that too tbh

a car with 4 people rolled up on me earlier, I managed to knock down 2 of then before they got out, knocked, then my friend knocked out a third while he was cooking a grenade and it ended up killing their whole squad do we didn't get any kills, unbelievable 😑

First win, killed the guy in the ghillie suit and took it. Only had a Kar98k and M16 with a 2x and managed to slaughter everyone. Felt so good.

Does anyone know if the twitch crate will go up or down in value. Just remembered I had one on the market for 35 studio but I'm starting to think I should maybe lower the price and cash out before it's too late.

Put it at 20-25 for a quick sell, they're still selling but it's slowing down.

Increased lag on drag-and-drop UI seems significant. They're slowing it down so people who don't use that feature aren't penalized.

Reduced cast time on health items seems significant.

"Fixed the probability of getting rainy weather to previous value" = SO HAPPY.

I also want to point out that the full cosmetic system is still being discussed internally, and we are taking your concerns into consideration when it comes to the ability to get free cosmetics by playing the game.

I really hope Brendan isn't just bullshitting.

I understand needing premium crates, but don't say that and then take away the free to open crates.

People who didn't know how to do that were slower because they had to wait on animations.

Rather than make picking up items faster for those people, they slowed down everyone to a similar speed I imagine.

As it is now you can just press Tab and move shit to your inventory with no animation, while if someone presses F they do the pick-up animation. I guess it's that.

I was almost excited for the SKS rail thing until I realized that it probably just means foregrips, which... eh, nice, I guess?

It will improve it so it can only be a good thing.
