PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

That's not what they said at all, it sounds like some minor bugs popped up at the last minute.

They don't have particularly high QA requirement for pushing patch to PTR and to live. Crashing, bugs and glitches are good to go. Them not to push this to PTR must mean they ran into some severe shit.

Yeah that's my impression too. Seems like we might not even get the official patch on time.

I agree, but I also understand why they may want to do this. Still it's unnecessary lowering of skill ceiling and removes one of those things that rewards player for knowledge and experimenting.

Patch was already delayed by a week because of big instability issues.

Some people (like Viss) can drag and drop stuff faster than I can even read what is in the menu, I'm guessing.

But that's just some people being real fucking good, if it is the case, and I don't see why it should be changed.

seems more like a balance thing than lowering the skill ceiling. they want looting to be riskier, i don't see an issue with that.

I'm a noob, what was the issue with drag/dropping?

You don't get item pick up animation when drag 'n drop looting making it faster to loot. Faster and more efficient way of looting.

I see it as lowering of skill ceiling because drag 'n drop looting is something everyone can learn by playing the game and even little bit experimenting with tools given. Removing or making it equal to pressing F is just killing mechanic that requires some skill and understanding of the game.

Too early to say if this makes or doesn't make looting riskier, but my gut feeling is that it doesn't. It just makes everything take longer.

People who call tabbing some sort of skill just make me laugh

It actually is. If you are bad at it you don't save a lot time, but if you are really good at it you save a lots of time.

Not even to mention that you have learn it or hear about it to even know it exists.

Had my best squad game last night, finishing at team #3 with randoms (I'm always with randoms). We didn't have the best position at the end because the circle was closing on a hill. The direction we came from didn't offer any trees for cover and it didn't help I was pretty much out of ammo. We had to make a run to get in the circle but had people behind rocks/trees waiting to light us up.
I didn't expect much out of that match in the beginning, no one besides me used their mics until the last 1/4th of the game. We also didn't have much health to spare after taking a while to get into the first zone reduction.

edit: I just remembered a solo game I played after that. I figured I would just drop quick and get some gunplay in, so I parachuted to the sniper tower or whatever, big metal structure with stairs at the military base. I looted the bottom then ran up one side of the stairs. I had a shotgun and maybe something else. I made my way to the other stairs and could hear someone but figured they were lower. As I got to the stairs there were shots and I guess they hit the railing/missed me. I looked down and he was a flight below me and it looked like he started to turn around. Since I was above him my shotgun blast to his head immediately killed him, lol.

So that (and the other one shown in the update) is the free crate, so I guess it's fine that it still has the junk items in them. If the $2.50 Crate has the chance to give you a white tank top, oh boy that's not gonna go over well.

literally anything that takes practice raises the skill ceiling, but i don't think they should be developing solely based on that.

it definitely will make looting riskier, especially at the very start. time is so important at most stages of the game.

Added new option to display helmet, vest, and backpack equipped on HUD UI. This HUD UI will be updated further in the future
Added new option to display all equipped weapons on the right side of the screen. This UI will be updated further in the future

Oh no, my expertly cultivated remembering what I picked skills are now wasted! Stupid low skill ceiling game.

I should jump in the discord group. I'm guessing y'all get into some squad play together through there?

Those paid boxes will generate so much salt because you can and will get dupes from them. Something devs plan to address around / after full release.

The item drag delay is so stupid. If they want to eliminate "skill advantage" I made more suggestions in the official forum:

- I demand a delay for fired shots from skilled players, as they tend to hit enemies way faster. A noob doesnt know how to do that at first, so we have to get everyone on even ground. Maybe make 80% shots not register for good players who worked to improve their skill, or just delay the damage dealt

- I would also suggest that when shooting Noob enemies, the TOP 100 players should damage themselves instead. You cant just let good players have an advantage based on their skill

These two are things that make no sense, just like it makes no sense that you can pick stuff up instantly just because you decide to use the tab menu and drag instead of right clicking.

Not sure if serious.... what?

Is the tab loot thing a hill people are ready to die on? Like it seems like a kinda pointless change, but people going bananas over "lowering the skill ceiling" is some of the funniest shit I'v seen.

Lowering the skill ceiling isn't some huge sin, it might remove part of the "skill ceiling" they don't like. Vaulting will also do that, it removes many of the weird things people need to do to jump out of windows etc.

Also has anyone actually seen the delay yet? Is there a video of it? Might want to wait for that before you nuts over nothing.

Is it weird that I hate MMR as a thing? Like, I understand fully why it is there, but I just have this mental block of not wanting to know that I'm dying to bad players, and that if I ever get a chicken dinner, it isn't really worth as much as someone else's because I'm playing against worse players. I want to play against the best in some games, and I want to against the worst in some games, and I don't want to know which one is which.

I know, everyone's talking about the patch notes now, and the MMR reset is old news, but I haven't booted up the game since hearing about the reset, because it was the first time I heard it even had MMR, and not just a 100% random group of people.

Yeah I'm not really seeing a problem with adding the animation/delay to tab looting.

They would either have to eliminate the animation entirely or add it for the tab looting as well. There shouldn't be a built-in advantage just because you're hitting tab instead of F. That doesn't make any sense.

Game tries and does put you against people with same-ish MMR as you have. You don't play against that much worse players, so... hm?

I guess I should have prefaced this with the fact that I know I'm bad at the game. So I am playing with what I am presuming is a low-skill playerbase. Because I'm playing with a low-skill player base, I know my wins aren't worth as much, and that I am dying to other bad players. I don't want to know if I'm dying to someone who is bad at the game or great at the game. It's not that I would rather get stomped in a game with a lot of great players, it's that I would rather not know if I'm playing with a lot of better players or worse players. And would much prefer if every game was a truly random mix (as close as computers can get to random) of high skill and low skill players.

But, this would be probably be boring for most people, as the best at the game probably only want to play the best to really see how good they are, and the worst want a chance to win because it isn't fun to lose all the time. Like I said, I'm pretty sure I'm weird for not liking it, I just don't.

To me this delay probably won't make much of a difference, I don't know why but if I drag and drop stuff too quickly the game just start to feel laggy and my drags won't register. So I need to be fairly slow with each item or I need to do it 2 times anyway..

I don't think win is less valuable at rank 10 000 than it's at rank 1000. You overcame challenge of being last man standing in group of 100-ish of same skilled people. Also as you strive for those chickens and get them it leads to skill improvement (movement, positioning, timing of stuff, shooting....) over time which leads to ladder climb.

Have you taken look at custom lobbies? Those are true mixes of all skill levels so could be something for you when there is lobbies going that you find interesting.

Proximity chat can lead to so many fun moments in this game.

Went on a squad run with some friends, we cornered a guy inside a house who would not stfu about Donald Trump and all that alt right nonsense.

We lobbed a ton of grenades at his direction then rushed him afterwards. While he was screaming knocked out, I said "The clintons send their regards" and finished him off.

That auto fire bug and stopping shooting thing has gotten me killed so many times, but I never knew if it was a bug or if I was letting going of the mouse button in a panic. Glad to see that I'm not paranoid and those deaths weren't entirely my fault.

They slowed the drag and drop looting, I'm excited to see some complaints from weirdos in this thread talking about "skill ceilings"
