I usually play without headphones, and it's a HUGE disadvantage.Does anyone play this without headphones and just using speakers? I hate wearing headphones and have a 5.1 surroudn system. Trying to decide if that would be decent of not.

That's what I'm afraid of.. I have 7.1 headphones, but hate wearing them..
Get some proper headphones, its like having silky pillows on your ears.
Yea I have 2 crazy kids and a wife I need to keep an ear out for lol. After they go to bed I throw the headphones on and its night and day difference. Really helps you appreciate how great the sound in this game is.That's what I'm afraid of.. I have 7.1 headphones, but hate wearing them..

Chicken Dinner with my wifey in FPP duos!
A funny gif from the game:
Wait, the game can be FPS?
Think Im going to drop the bone to play this, but theres a lot of negativity in this thread haha.
Yup also runs better too...for me anywayYes and FPP is superior to TPP!

All those chicken dinner posts make me sad. I have something like 40 hours on the clock and the best I got was second a few times.
Despite the negativity everybody can't stop playing it.
Don't expect to win often if at all. Sometimes I play without headphones just because, and it never ends spectacularly.Does anyone play this without headphones and just using speakers? I hate wearing headphones and have a 5.1 surroudn system. Trying to decide if that would be decent of not.
Just purchased it, Im excited. Hoping it doesnt end up like the others (Day Z, H1Z1, etc). Do I need to download the Test Server, or can I prioritize the PUBG game first?

Whatever happened to DayZ? I thought the guy who made the original mod was doing a standalone

IDK but it was all the rage and then it seems like something happened to the development. Im hesitant to have bought this in case it makes a terrible turn or doesnt make it out of pre alpha or something.
Its weird to me that this genre has been tried before and then copycats came but then they all just drop off the radar.

I've only owned this a week and feel I've gotten my money's worth, and am enthralled to think it's only going to get much better. If it was more than $29.99 I'd hesitate, but at that price, nah.
DayZ is on Steam Early Access since 2013 and I think it hit Beta earlier this year iirc. Dean Hall, the lead and guy behind the mod, left to start his own studio. His new game, Ion, was canceled earlier this year.
Just picked this up and installed it. Been watching streams of it on and off, so quite interested in it!
For those of you who also defy common sense on occasion, just know you should only click the 'OK' button for character re-customization once.
So if you click OK a whole bunch of times can you underflow and get billions of BP and buy 10000 chests and become Steam rich forever?
...I mean I've already gone this far, I may as well keep going for science.
*edit*
Nevermind, I can't. Apparently you have to have enough BP to be able to do the customization in the first place. At least I can add that to a bug report now.

Nothing ever happened to it. That's what happened.
It laid stagnant for years with no significant changes, no major bug fixes, etc.
That's why people were a bit upset when PUBG folks started talking about keys/crates and not major bug fixes or content creation.
Yep. People just hole on one place and see if anyone is coming by. No wants to be out in the open anymore. My take away as well. When moving is more blind than ever you don't want to move.
And a lot of streamers are playing FPP now because it's new and because they've just spent three months bitching about third person peaking so they'd better try it. Whether it sticks remains to be seen.
Categorically false. It's more viable, if anything. You always have the advantage as a camper.Camping isn't really as viable in 1PP. You'll always be spotted first as a camper, and if you're camping inside a house you're trapped. You have no advantage at all.
And I haven't lost a fight vs. a camper in 1PP so far.

Its not gonna be decent, headphones are kinda only way to play it.
An audio trick that some might like to use (I've used it in CSGO) is using your audio card/motherboard/software (such as Razer) to "normalize" the audio feed.
What this does is it balances the quiet and loud sounds into a closer range and makes soft footsteps wayyy louder. It has saved my butt when my squad said they couldn't hear anything.
No updates since? So it's just stuck in development hell?

Good to hear.
I love round based games and slow games. Just a completely superior rush to games where you're running around the map.
I havent played a PC shooter since like Halo CE
Is this as simple as changing some quick settings? I'm interested in trying this out to see how much of a difference it makes.
edit: A quick google shows going into the sound options on the system tray and enabling "Loudness Equalization" under enhancements. Would this work?
Yup should be the same. I think it's called they inside of Realtek audio
Jumped on board with this game. Having a lot of fun, hope some of my friends pick it up too.
But good god damn it is difficult. Are there any decent beginners guides or do's and dont's?
