PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Getting #1 with 1 kill feels equal parts awful and amazing. Circle let me camp out on a boat and alt-tab to do something else the whole round. At the end I swam to shore and got the last guy as he was healing from the shoot out with #3.

I'd like to get #1 with zero kills but I'd need to get real lucky.

generally only happens when the last circle is over the bunkers i think?

But in Shari's situation could they hide from each other before very very last circle? I assume he had same circle as I did.

It's possible, I've only ever seen it happen a couple times on streams and it's been because someone was in a bunker and someone was above the bunker

Yep this is exactly what happened to me, and yes I was speaking about circle shrinking to nothing with no alert whatsoever.

I think shrinking to zero is a good idea to avoid a "enemy at the gates" situation where both parties camp forever but we need some warnings in place so people can think of how they want to play it and dont get killed by the blue...

To answer your question guys, yeah that was the scenario, he was behind the only tree inside the circle and I was on a lower level of ground so he couldn't see me but he knew where I was, I was able to hit him a couple of times thanks to the ground advantage but ultimately got killed by the blue because I was on the border and he was more centric. Felt really shit.

Sigh* I keep under estimating how bad the last 2-3 blue circles hurt :( I got a painkiller and engery drink going! I should be fine right?

Unlikely. Even if two players died at precisely the same time, the server would still have to process their deaths in some order (whether it's something as arbitrary as their co-ordinates on the map, who has the lowest ping, the connection order at the start of the game, or simply their names in alphabetical order). Like, when you kill more than one person at once, the death feed in the bottom left still has to parse that in an order to display consistently.

Wheww just won my first solo. This game gets tense lol, I love it. Shooters don't usually last too long for me but this could be one of the exceptions.

The M16 is so damn consistent at medium to semi-long range.

No idea if this is true but I've heard in game (and kinda in real life too but there's more factors to account for) the 5.56 has more velocity than the 7.62 while the latter does more damage. So it takes less compensation. You just put your red dot or 2x scope on the target, click the mouse, and you'll hit your target lol. And there is barely any recovery time until the next shot can be fired. I'd assume the weapon plays a role in velocity too but not sure.

Between the M16, the M4, the SCAR, and the M249 I feel like 5.56 ammo is always worth picking up. At least a box if you have the space. Of course it depends on your playstyle.

Played in a squad match with 2 friends, accidentally leave matchmaking on so we pick up a fourth. He's not talking so we have no way to communicate with him. Plane starts flying in from the NW and our random decides to immediately jump at Georgopol. We never jump into cities and instead had marked out somewhere around Piertown.

Essentially, he's half a map away and dies quickly (as expected), then exits to lobby. The 3 of us remaining eventually end up winning the game. Does the random guy get counted for a win?

I think only people who stick around till the end count. That's how it works for points anyway as far as I know.

Its extremely skill based with a sprinkling of luck

If you are good, you can 1v3 guys with ARs and Shotguns with only a pistol. Makes for very exciting viewing

Had an awesome run near the end of a squad match. Got a Kar98k and an 8x scope off of a squad we took out and was sniping people left right and centre.

I think out of the 11 kills I actually took down 15-20 people, only for them to be revived multiple times.

Yep, check Pubg.me, m16 has the fastest bullet velocity of all the Assault Rifles and akm has the slowest. It also has a bit lower vertical recoil and faster recovery than the other rifles at least unkitted.

M16 is basically a budget DMR. It would argue its better than sks and worse than m14 at the dmr role. Actual snipers beat it of coarse.

IMO the SCAR should have the ability to use a cheek pad. IRL the scar can be fitted with a cheek pad and even has a built in cheek extender thingy in the default stock.

Bluehole and PU have made some head scratching decisions when it comes to weapons. Here are a few of my gripes.

1. The vector is the most OP smg IRL, its fire rate and accuracy should make it superior to the UMP in game at the very least. Right now there is no reason to pick up the vector, its a useless gun. It was fine before the nerf.

2. The VSS is garbage IRL and in game. Why even add it?

3. What is it with using such boring, and relatively old guns, (AKM, SKS, Groza, VSS) when weapons like the Tavor, Atrax, 805 bren, SCAR Mk17, AK12, and other modern firearms exist? Its like this game was made in the mid 90s or something. All they need is an AK74 to complete the eye rolling soviet garbage parade. Is it possible the weapon choices are solely due to the maps setting (Russia)? I have heard that maps will each have their own weapons to fit a theme, but I think that might be a rumor.

4. If not a cheek pad, why can't the scar take a tac stock? A lot of scar 16 and 17 owners replace the default stock because it rattles terribly. It is a gun that accepts after market stocks.

5. Pistols should take muzzle attachments beyond suppressors.

6. Why does the same 762 ammo that goes into the AKM, SKS and Groza also go into the M14, KAR98 and M24? For those that are not aware the AKM, SKS and Groza use 7.62x39 while the KAR98k uses 7.62x57 Mauser and M24/m14 use 7.62x51 NATO. These are completely different cartridges. If BH is worried people would get confused they could just change 7.62x51 to .308 which is virtually identical to 7.62x51 and hand wave away the ancient KAR98k cartridge as many KAR98ks have been re-chambered into .308. Basically I am arguing that .308 should be an ammo you pick up for the big guns.

7. After my diatribe in 6 I am realizing that the SKS is kinda worthless when the AKM exists. Replace it with the 7.62x51 FN FAL (known as the right arm of the free world) if you have to use old guns. Would be great as a spawn DMR below the MK14ebr and above the AKM.

Sheesh, getting better at reaching top 10, was level 3'd out of my mind, got to top 4 but my nerves got the better me and I was a quivering wreck couldn't think straight and got killed at number 3.

Clearly you've noticed that you're playing on an abandoned soviet base island right? thus the vintage russian weapons? If anything they are the only weapons that make sense to be there.

Doesn't explain the german m416 or the american m16 :p. Hell, the SCAR, UMP, Vector, M24, or AWN don't make sense either given the theme.

There is a reason the VSS has become a joke by most of the good players...

If they wanted to stick to a theme they should replace the UMP with a Bizon or 9mm groza, the Vector with a pp2000, the kar with a mosin nagant, the m24 with a sv98, and add a droganov in there somewhere.

Also makarov, AK74, AK12 and AS Val.

Uh... game balance and gameplay answers just about every single point here. Nobody wants 7 different ammo types, scar doesn't need a cheekpad, agree about the vector though, its just weak and require too many attachments to be viable.

Adding in one extra ammo type would not make this a simulator. It would allow for more depth in looting than "Pick up all the 762 cuz everything big uses it".

Trying to decide whether you should carry a bunch of the heavy .308 or lighter 762/556 is a pretty compelling choice. Armies the world over struggle with this same dilemma all them time. Hell thats why the US moved to 556 even thought it isn't so hot at killing. (Slinging more lead down field is more important than clean kills to US Military).

To be honest I agree with this part, this change is probably going to come at some point. The current pool of guns does overwhelmingly slant towards this universal 7.62, so it's bound to happen eventually, I've always seen the inaccuracy as temporary.

I actually understand why they would do it I guess (one less thing to balance, spawn, etc). That doesn't mean it isn't a gripe of mine, and I do find the split of the two ammo types more compelling for the reasons I stated.

I don't think we need to go beyond that though. There is no need for shit like 30-06, 338 lapua, or 300BLK. :p

9mm, 45, 556, 762 and 308 are all that is really needed for a full gamut of guns and choices. The AWM ammo, IMO, should weigh more than it does though.

You'll get better (and calmer) the more you play. My win rate when reaching the top 10 is still abyssmal and I have an embarrassing # of 2nd place finishes, but it gets easier to keep your cool in the end game the more you get there. You'll also start to figure out what works and what doesn't as you get into the last few small circles.
