Just bought this for me and a buddy. What graphics settings should I play on to not put myself at a disadvantage?

Just last night me and my group used the settings found in this Tweak Guide from a reddit user and we're enjoying it so far this way. The distance at Low seemed odd but they made a good point that it's still more than far enough to see any potential players off in the distance. Just be aware that ReShade could potentially be an issue so I wouldn't advise doing that myself.

You might have some instabilities if it's crashing when under high loads.

You can do what I did - buy the game just to test performance and if it doesn't, then refund it (I refunded the game because I did not find it fun to play alone). I ended up buying it again when my friends bought it and the game performed better than I thought it would. My GFX card is 660ti and I get close to 60 mostly - everything low, ofc.

Steam's refund policy is pretty lenient right now - you can try out a match or two and test your performance. If it runs badly then refund it. Just make sure you don't end up with more than 2 hours played before you decide if you want a refund or not.

So what kind of playstyle do you guys go for? I've only done a handful of matches, but I usually try and drop somewhere towards the center near a building that others aren't landing around, find some kinda gun, and hunker down in a secure room while the numbers dwindle. The problem is, once I actually have to move, there are always people in fortified positions I can't see picking me off.

What do you think is the right balance between offense and defense?

I wish you could spectate after you're killed.

I had some sketchy connections today, but it's not like that always. Could be traffic, early access woes, or maintenance.

Finally killed someone that had a scope.

I then shot and injured 2 people before needing to run off, then get in a long distance gun battle with a guy hiding inbetween 2 rocks, who I watch get blasted close quarter by a third guy, who got me as I was running out of the blue circle stuff.

It's more than a bit wonky, and I had some bad lag spikes (like "I'm in another room somehow" bad) but it's an interesting game at it's core.

When my buddy dies in duos it becomes less about winning and more about how can I ruin the game for everyone else in the shortest amount of time so I don't leave him hanging for too long.

Sometimes it works out and ends up being pretty funny. Most times I die horribly.

I also came across a bug of getting "fake shot" tonight. It sounded like I got shot but I lost no health. It was only a heart-skipping moment. It happened only when I was crouching near a rock on a steep cliff.

It was also simultaneously happening to my teammate who was near me.

i've gotten stuck in that same spot too.. its especially stupid because the placement of that half-wall really encourages crouching there.

lol yep! I had about 80% health but it stopped happening once me and my buddy got off that cliff. It was also raining, if that matters.

one of my go-to strats is to scour the coast for a boat to hit a great place that was far away from the plane. like the shipyard containers in the southern island

it doesn't come in handy 9/10 times but it's there when you need it

I like to try and have casual conversations with the people I'm in a firefight with.

It's not often but I've had some amazing emergent moments with voice chat.. One time my friend and I exchanged fire with another duo, then we fell back into a house after taking damage. They circled the house taunting us and we begged for our lives.

I think the big blob of players in the lobby works against these moments happening, since all the screaming and frequent outbursts of random racism/misogyny/nonsense probably prompts a lot of people to turn off their voice chat and never bother turning it back on (and who can blame them).

Yea its proximity, make sure your voice setting is set to ALL voice channel I think

Nicely done! I've yet to hit a winner winner chicken dinner . I've hit 3rd twice now, first one with 7 kills and the other with 4.

This is my first go with a BR type game too (I passed on H1Z1 when buds tried to get me to play it) and I have been enjoying it far more than I figured I would. My heart goes crazy when its down to the wire and and its just you a few other people in a small confined area, super intense stuff.

Last fight was super chaotic but i managed to kill a guy with my last bullet and sliver of health.
