PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

There is actually a bug right now where occasionally your vest doesn't reduce damage properly. This can lead to you taking a lot more damage, or getting two tapped when hit in the chest by an SKS or MK14, or one tapped when hit in the chest by an M24.

There's apparently another bug where if you get hit in the arms or legs it registers as a body shot and you take more damage, that's just what I've heard though.

I dunno, dude, really looks like you're complaining here.

And I'm all for calling out hypocrisy - you're the dude who went on AS servers (and got that "bullshit ping advantage") and said everyone there "sucks anal dicks". Not to mention you were most likely playing with people who literally picked up the game. (Unless you never actually played there and wanted to shit on them for no reason)

And I'm not wrong, unless you'd like to show me proof that you got headshotted by a Kar with 100 health and a level 3 helmet. A clip would do.

Here are my receipts. Data was mined around June 7th, and there have been no changes to the Kar98 since then (I think the website gets updated anyways).

The Kar98 does 72 damage. Headshot multiplier is 2.5x, so it deals 180 damage on a headshot. The level 3 helmet blocks 55% of headshot damage, so headshotting someone with a Kar98 does 72 * 2.5 * 0.45 damage, which turns out to 81. Enough to kill a medkitted person, but not if they have a few boosts.

Oh wow, I don't recall that. That's really weird that you recall my posts better than I do. I went to the AS server as recommended by some people within my first few days / couple weeks with the game. I sucked pretty bad. Actually, I still suck, but I can say I get several kills during most matches and finish top 10 a decent amount of times (several dinners too). I'd love to show you a clip if I knew how to stream/record clips.

I'm new to streaming on pc. Never really done it before. Do I need an outside program to stream to my twitch?

Is Nvidia ShadowPlay really that intensive (I currently use it during PUBG rounds)?

I tried using OBS (for stuff that didn't work well in ShadowPlay) and it was kind of a nightmare.

OBS sucks but it's free and what most people use. Idk why though...I use XSPLIT.

NVidia ShadowPlay I haven't exactly used.

What does this mean?

A person who just used a med kit, i.e 100hp?

He means a first aid kit, 75hp.

People have a habit of calling all healing packs "medkits" - it's a holdover from other games.

--

I really like Windows 10's Game DVR feature - has worked super well for me and I haven't noticed any performance hit whatsoever.

For the first time, I got to experience the final circles ending in the quarry. I have never felt so exposed in my life, yikes.

I only got #8, but I also almost killed myself with the blue because I didn't realize so much of the quarry was fenced off from the upper levels. I found a hole in the fence just in time, shot a couple of times at someone 10-15 feet away using a choked shotgun, and apparently did no damage per the game over screen. :(

OBS.

We gotta play sometime! Still remember the good ole TLOU tournament. :p
For sure. Yeah, that was pretty fun.

Oh yeah, somehow I forgot about that and I've actually used it before. I'll have to try it again next time I play.

I don't like FPP that much, but I just did a round of pistol only, and it was actually really fun. Love seeing people scramble from the almighty silenced P92 because they have no idea where they're getting shot from or what's doing the shooting. I did give myself armor/attachments/meds though.

Awesome UAZ kill too.

I think that the view should be a bit higher off the ground in fp mode and it would be nice if the driver could peak from a window, driving an UAZ in a small incline is pretty bad, other than that i really like the first person mode. U personally don't really like P92, It feels a bit too spammy to my tastes, i like the revolver and 1911 the most, especially with an silencer.

Yeah, I messed up there, I meant a First Aid Kit.

Pet peeve: When there's an item called a First Aid Kit and a separate item called a Med Kit and they do two different things, don't call "First Aid Kits" "Med Kits" as a generic term!

Also don't call vehicles cars, call them vehicles, because if you found a Kar I might care or I might not, same with a car.

And if you did find a car, make sure you say whether or not it's a spawned car, a car that someone drove, or a car that someone is driving.

One of my friends does this. We've corrected him every time but he just can't rewire his brain to go to First Aid. Some other common name errors of his:

UAZ -> UAV
Compensator -> Compressor
Suppressor -> Compressor
7.62 -> 7.76
M416 -> M16
M16A4 -> M4
Vertical Foregrip -> Vertical Stock
Tactical Stock -> Tactical Grip

Been away for a couple weeks, did they reduce the loot in warehouses? Used to be guaranteed to get some good stuff, but last few games I've hit a bunch, and no guns, just some accessories. Instead of 3-4 loot spots per warehouse, now seems like 1-2.

I had not played this game in about a month, did they upgrade graphics/add weather? Not sure if I had ever seen rain/thunder before and the graphics look cleaner than I remember.

Does anyone have a recommendation for headphones for this game? Or i guess in general to help with finding positions?

When im getting shot im having a hard time zoning in. The hud gives you almost nothing . Its cost me alot of lives. Its especially annoying in those situations where ive been able to deal with the damage but i just cant find them.

Itd be useful also for the last 5 when we are all close but i cant see anyone itd be really good to be able to figure out location through sound.

At this point i need all the help i can get i havent won a match for like 100 hours.

I'm having a hard time believing it was a legit shot, even with a 15x scope you aren't going to see shit from the top of Stalber to the southern coast. The hacking videos on Youtube show that you just need a clear line of sight to someone to be able to lock on and get a headshot. Definitely need to see some receipts.

According to the PUBG stat-tracking site, the longest kill right now is 7,463.88 metres and the second is 6,424.62 metres, both from squad players on the OC server - https://pubgtracker.com/leaderboards/pc/LongestKill?mode=0&region=0

I think the longest snipe I've seen a clip of is around ~1000 metres. It seems too convenient that there appears to be no footage of these insane long-distance kills...I'll be happy to be proven wrong though.
.

Right now in Squad and Duos the kill distance is the distance between the players when one of the dies, NOT get downed. So if I shoot you in stalber then drive all the way to primorsk before you bleed out I get that distance as my longest kill. It really sucks when it overwrites one of your legit kills.

I reckon someone could setup a custom server to test long range snipes just to see if the bullet phsyics etc work. But if its listed in the duo/squad stats its probably just the above mentioned bug.

Doesn't the OP have some information on how to determine shot directions. Start there I guess, but its mostly not that complicated, any headphones should help you tell the direction shots comes from. My general tip is to STOP SPINNING when you hear incoming shots because you will trick yourself into hearing them from the wrong direction. The second tip is to only listen for the bang of the gunshot, NOT the Wizz-crack of the bullet flying past.

Earlier in the thread people mentioned normalising the game audio, I have a gigabyte motherboard and the installled app that pops up when I connect my headset but can't see where to normalise the audio, where would I look?

I think people are doing it from the Win10 speaker icon in the bottom right. When I right click and go to my device, I get five tabs for Speaker Properties, the middle of which is "Enhancements." From there in a scroll box I checked "Loudness Equalization."

In my experience it helps a lot by cranking up footsteps and doors, but car sounds have become bewildering. You hear the motor humming from a hundred miles away and can't localize it. Today I was crouching in Yasnaya when someone drove down main street with their hand on the horn- excruciating.

Ahh OK, so it's a bit of a trade off.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Tried this today for the first time only knowing bits and pieces about this game. Survived from 97 to 35 players without seeing another soul, then died quickly from a silenced burst out of nowhere.

It's just something you gradually get used to I guess. What I do as I'm running along is to look all around me, taking note of spots where I think other players could be such as behind trees or mounds/crests of hills, nearby house windows and shacks etc. I always try and stick near trees, rocks and ridges so that if someone does start shooting at me and I'm not sure of the exact location, I can take cover and then spot them. Muzzle flashes are a huge giveaway if they don't have a Flash Hider.

Watching some good PUBG streamers like Grimmz or Viss play would help you too I reckon. All weapons sound different and some can be harder than others to track, like the VSS or other suppressed weapons.

Right now in Squad and Duos the kill distance is the distance between the players when one of the dies, NOT get downed. Ahh well that would certainly explain it then. I was sitting here picturing someone on Stalber mountain aiming their Kar98 at the sun to account for the bullet drop to hit someone on the other side of the map :p

Ahh OK, so it's a bit of a trade off.

You should definitely try it as it makes footsteps super-clear which is a game changer, especially in and around buildings. I'd never go back.

If you currently use 7.1 headphones then put them on stereo mode.
If you want new headphones then tell what budget you have.

Im using shitty stereo logitechs atm. If 5.1 or 7.1 isnt useful i think i wont bother.

As for budget, like 300 aud so like $220 or so.

I have the earlier/original version of these

They are amazing for positioning, especially in games like PUBG and Battlefield. You can easily pinpoint footsteps and gunfire

I would 100% recommend them. Super comfortable too. Been using them for 4+ years with no issues

Only complaint is that they are open backed, so you will hear ALOT of external noise if you are in a noisy room

Ugh, are shotguns even worth using? At close range sitting right in front of a door, I didn't have enough time to fire two rounds before getting killed with an AR.

Err shotguns are extremely worthwhile and they have suprisingly good range (with a choke). I have dropped people at like 20-30m with shotguns before. In close quarters they are absolutely beastly but if you only have a lvl 1 helmet or no helmet and someone headshots you with an AR, you die anyway shotgun or no shotgun.

The pump action requires cover to use, the double barreled requires aim (just double tap it and anything you hit will die no matter the armor they have)

It took me nearly a week and 15 hours of playing to realize game has a compass at top with degree bearings. I was looking at mini map and calculating them in my head.

Yeah.😂

Yesterday I used the S12K a few times all the way into end game and it's a goddamn beast. It's insane for any CQC.

Last night I played a few rounds for the first time in a couple weeks. I was holed up in some tiny little outpost building within the circle, which was about the size of a large coin. My shotgun was trained on the door in case anyone decided to stop by.

Eventually the door opens and another player appears. I fired my shotgun, but before it went off I heard the crack of gunfire, and this guy just crumpled over dead right in my doorway. My blast simply blew a hole in the door and gave my position away. The game wouldn't let me search the body for some reason, so perhaps the person that killed him was on the other side of the wall looting him?

I don't know, but it was a nervous feeling wondering if someone was just waiting to pick me off when I had to leave.

That's part of what makes this game so fucking good. Some people say when you start you should avoid hotspots but I think going straight into the military base, towns etc is best. You get to experiance a lot of action and you'll quickly pick up manuvering and combat.
