Yep. People turning their gamma up have an advantage in dark areas. People using the lowest possible shadow settings have an advantage because they see buildings as light instead of dark, though that's something that could be fixed.

Played four matches and really didn't do much at all. I did have a interesting fist fight with a guy that turned into him dying from another player and me killing the guy while he looted him. This happened pretty much at the drop.

Bought the game finally, after asking some questions here and seeing friends IRL play it.
Had a BLAST! Made it to the top 20 in my first game, mostly just hiding in a bush with a shotgun, then paired up with a friend, and consecutively made it to the top 20, my last game I was #3!
The game runs ok sometimes, I get severe lag spikes once in a while that quickly go away, and once buildings and walls were just big blobs when I landed, like an Unreal engine 3 game loading in textures.
Otherwise, tons of fun I've been having. It's refreshing to have a game that doesn't rub it in your face that you lost(Splatoon 2's losing screen+music comes to mind, along with the rank exp bar visibly cracking).
Matchmaking is fast too. After work definitely gonna take a few more solo games.

Don't remember where I heard this, but when the devs talked about adding a night map they also talked about finding ways to increase darkness that are immune to contrast and brightness tweaks.
I think fading everything to the same pitch of dark blue is something other games have used, but I'm just talking out my ass basically.

Something up with your setup if that is such huge FPS hit. It should be just few frames.
How tournament scores your (teams) performance encourages that. Scoring rule issue.

Damn made it to top 10, then top 3, but was so bored I moved to engage the last 2 instead of playing the circle and took #3

The definitely rewards kills more than just position.
Top 10 is rewarded more than kills but kills are rewarded more than position outside the top 10.
Then with only four left he decided to switch between perspective about a dozens times in two seconds. No way to follow the final fight which really shouldn't be a problem.

Are the servers really bad or something? I see a lot of people jittery around, bullets seem to just soak into people and I get a lot of choppiness (and my friends lag at the exact same time).
At times, yes.
It's currently biggest issue and gripe people have with the game. Very inconsistent and at times straight out garbage server performance.
A free weekend would possibly melt the game's servers.

Just do a refund if you don't like it on Steam. 2 hours I believe?
They are renting / buying server space and capacity from Amazons server farms.
What they have said about server performance is more or less "We are working on it".

I play on EU servers and every single game it's just constantly lagging. I just lost a round because the game decided to lag when i was near another player. I don't think i've played any matches where there hasn't been a massive amount of lag, and i'm pretty sure it's not my connection that's the problem. This isn't just an occasional thing, it's pretty much every single match. I thought they'd have better servers by now, especially with the huge amounts of money they've made.
Forgot to post this last night, but the dude tossed at least 4 nades in total and not one hit me.

Sounds like the plan for grinding BP would be dropping school/military every game, hopefully winning, and just slinking around until the top 10
Gotta try out the highlight feature when my replacement 1080 comes in, but I'd like to see them try to make an in-game system, since shadowplay's only gonna look as good as the graphics settings (which everyone's got on low)

do you play from a mechanical HDD? seems to be a problem with them... never had it happen on a SSD

Just blew an easy win by deciding to go full auto with an AKM and 4x scope instead of switching to my red dot first. Couldn't control it, and he killed me before I stabilized. AHHHHHH.

20 for a kill is fine in the early game... but that number should go way up as the ranks dwindle.

The kill based points don't change, you're right. (with the exception of game mode)
I'd strongly disagree with having kills go way up as it'll just further de-emphasize the early game killing and further promote the 'sitting out in the middle of nowhere'.

They take a while for me to load, depending on where i land. It didn't used to happen but now it's quite a regular occurrence, they eventually load but it takes around a minute ejivj means important time is lost.
