Played 3 games tonight and in all of them I've been killed by someone, then 1 second later they come around the corner and shoot me.

Is there any way to check ping?

I'm telling you, try playing with me. I'll show you difficult. :p I've won the game ONCE out of 124 hours played. I really want to see how the people operate who consistently get top 5 or whatever, since maybe once in that timeframe I've seen a player of that skill level as a teammate.

I've ended up top 3 in solo/duo 5 different times in the last week though.

Join the GAF PUBG Discord. There is usually a good squad/duo there. Since FPP has been added, I'd say I have ~10 FPP squad chicken dinners (that's all I've been playing). It's pretty easy, long jump to a good loot city, play conservative (only go after danger close targets or take suppressed shots) until there are <30 alive (2-3rd circle), hope circles 4+ aren't evil and pick a good spot with cover, let other squads kill each other, and then clean up the scraps.

My bad luck that I complained about earlier seems to have turned around.

Last three games I was #1, #3 and #5. Getting more kills, getting better at positioning and of course a whole load of circle luck. Hit some nice kar98 headshots with the 4x as well.

Jumped in a solo AS server game randomly to show the wife PUBG and somehow I won. Intense as hell but I think my ping may have had something to do with it.

Just got one shot killed by a crossbow by a guy with his back turned to me, after painting the wall behind him using an ak and his blood, tonight gets better and better. Ping to London server apparently 25ms. Sigh.

And I still can't figure out how some people are able to keep falling and freefall speed after pulling their chute. I've tried the releasing W thing and it does nothing for me. Someone roughly level with me pulls at the same time and just hurtles toward the ground at full speed.

anyone know how support staff is on the BG side? I purchased three keys in-game and didn't receive them. I sent off a ticket to EnMasse and am waiting for a reply.

Under 30 is amazing

30 - 60 is what most people should get

80+ is garbage

Depends on your standards and what type of game you're playing.

I'm a bit spoiled due to playing CSGO a lot, but a good ping for me is under 25ms. 2ms is a possibility if I'm lucky, but PUBG only has 3 server locations in EU (Frankfurt, London, Ireland) which means ~50ms for me, which is fine for a game like PUBG.

When you're close to 100 or over, you'll likely notice a delay to some actions which isn't optimal.

But honestly, you can still be competitive with a high ping in a game like this. It just doesn't feel comfortable to play.

Well... that explains a lot... I'm at 120-130ms. I constant get wrecked in close quarters engagements around corners. Before I can even react and click, I am dead.

Is the 5 shot shotgun supposed to be 1HK? I keep hitting people with it point blank and they don't die.

Looks like you only barely hit his shoulder. The amount of blood splatters are a bit misleading with regards to shotguns.

In that instance I don't think you got him with the full shotgun spread. You also hit him in the shoulder. If you hit somebody center or upper center mass, they should be 1HK... with that being said, shotguns have been weird for me lately.

Well, that marks the end of tonight's garbage luck I guess.

I feel a tiny bit bad about only getting 2 kills but I wasn't exactly avoiding fights. Dropped in at the farm and looted 3 houses but didn't find anything other than pistols and shotguns so had to run rather than try and take out the two other guys who landed there, one of whom killed the other with an AK and definitely had a lvl3 helmet from what I saw when I watched. Had to stay conservative after that as didn't find anything better than level 1 stuff armour/helmet wise.

*sigh*

Another top 10 game ruined by the trash circle mechanics.

That shit needs a rework so badly but I doubt it's anywhere near the top of their priority list.

what do you mean?

Doing well, won a fight by the air drop crate, got the drop on a group of people in one of the cities, fully kitted out M24, M4A1, about to get set up in one of the buildings

Circle forces us to rush out into the middle of an open field. Get sniped by someone outside of the circle who is tanking it.

GG.

I get that RNG in terms of loot is a huge part of the game, but when the circle RNG is regularly fucking up good strategic play, something needs to change. Especially when it rewards stacking up healing items and just sitting outside of what should be the out of bounds area and shooting into it.

MUnited83

For you.
The only thing I have to complain about the circle is that it doesn't seem to ever end in the middle of a city, which would be nice every now and then.

I've had it end exactly once, in the middle of Mylta. I ran through the diner before taking the final kill, and my dinner.

Urban battles are awesome when the circle is minuscule.

Trying to 'set up' somewhere and expecting to defend it until the end is a fool's game though. The mechanics are so that it explicitly discourages that kind of play.

You continuously got to adapt to the boundaries of the circle and make your plays based on that. The strategy to camp out of the circle is a risky one and will go wrong way more often than it actually turns out fruitful.

"You were probably moving as you shot.
Shotguns shoot a ray (line) from the barrel to a position, then the pellets spawn outward from the impact point.
It does not shoot 9 separate projectiles, which is a primary reason shotguns feel random as fuck at close range, and overpowered at range. If that first projectile misses, you miss almost entirely.
This is also why shotguns feel overly strong at range. If the gun shot 9 separate projectiles, the probability of a number of pellets hitting a target at range to deal significant damage is low. But with how shotguns are implemented, if that first projectile hits you at range, you can easily have 7+ pellets hit you... which is just bull."

I watched my friend got a chicken dinner yesterday. He never fired his gun in the whole game, same as one of his teammates. The other two did all the work. That's two dinners totally undeserved.

Shooting isn't the only thing you do to win a round.

First squad game I played we won, between the four of us we shot at one guy the entire round, the last guy, to win.

Well I had a fun round where a guy came into my house, proned for a second before running into a field, and then I actually managed to lead correctly with an Uzi at like 100m to kill him, then I realized I had a trillion AR/SR attachments but only a shotgun and Uzi, then a crate landed right next to me but also near Pochinki, then I nearly blew up a passing UAZ heading to the crate with a shotgun but the window got in the way for the last 1-2 shots, then I killed a guy with a lucky choked shotgun headshot when he jumped past a crack in a wall, then I nearly got a guy running past church in the blue. I actually forgot I was in the blue as he winged me, and right before I could pop up to shotgun him as he charged me, I died outside the playzone.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised there are people ITT defending objectively poor mechanics in the game they like.

Gamescom tourney literally highlighted how trash the circle mechanics are but defense force gonna defend

Nah I sat right next to him and watched him play. Dude literally did nothing. Or let me say this: not only did he not shot his gun once, he never saw anybody! The whole game was like this:

A: "I saw somebody"
Him: "Where?"
A: "Never mind I killed him"

Did he have fun?

Of course he did, on my laptop no less. I was just so salty that I let him play on my laptop for one round and he got a chicken dinner for nothing. Should've been me.

Gamescom highlighted how shitty the scoring system is, not the circle itself.

I just won a duo match where I didn't hit a single bullet. I did however die in the end phase which enabled me to tell my buddy where the last guys were. So I did feel helpful!
