PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

I wish it was a little more clear what is going to damage you with vehicles. I've had people jump out of full speed cars and kill me because they didn't die and then I just jumped out of boat that was almost stopped as it beached itself and die from full health just now.

Well, that marks the end of tonight's garbage luck I guess.

I feel a tiny bit bad about only getting 2 kills but I wasn't exactly avoiding fights. Dropped in at the farm and looted 3 houses but didn't find anything other than pistols and shotguns so had to run rather than try and take out the two other guys who landed there, one of whom killed the other with an AK and definitely had a lvl3 helmet from what I saw when I watched. Had to stay conservative after that as didn't find anything better than level 1 stuff armour/helmet wise.
Don't feel bad. Last one alive is the game. And sometimes you just don't see anyone. Killing doesn't give you the Chicken Dinner. Surviving does.

Wow, I wouldn't have even attempted that with auto. MAYBE single tapping.

How is everyone liking the First Person mode? Seems like it would be the best.
I think the poll taken was something like 75% or more prefer FPP.

I like it a lot more since it's possible to actually catch people by surprise and not just have everyone lying behind cover while using a 360-degree spycam.

However, and I don't know if this is because of the Gamescom tourney or just anecdotal experience, the last 3 days or so have had a TON more camping and less action in FPP for me. I'll regularly see 3-6 minutes pass in the middle of a game without a single person dying, with 30-40 people alive. Even if I want to find action, I either gamble for something like the school (wait 3 minutes to load and parachute, check 3 rooms with 0 items, die to autoshotgun / AR) or it's nearly impossible to find someone who's not sitting in a building or prone on a mountain.

I don't blame them, because the smartest and safest thing to do is often to sit in a building in a secure spot and wait for the next circle. If you try to shoot someone, you'll likely be killed by whoever was waiting nearby in a safer spot. If you try to push in early, you'll likely be killed by someone waiting nearby in a safer spot with a view of the open, or someone behind you.

The result of all this has been that on the rare occasions I get 4x or (SUPER RARE) 8x scopes, or a neat sniper rifle, there's been essentially no occasion to use them. Using a rifle to attempt a faraway kill gains you 20-40 BP, gains you no items, and reveals your position to everyone in a wide area. In contrast, NOT using the rifle means you're more likely to pass unnoticed and make to the final 10. At that point, a sniper or 8x is less likely to be useful because the circle is so small, so I still feel those weapons don't see much action in my games.

The most fun I had recently was getting an 8x scope on an AKM and sniping from the roof of a 3-story building at people on and in the school. Of course, I couldn't kill anyone because they would simply duck out of the way once they were injured, and/or get revived by their partner if they went down. So while it was fun, it accomplished very little except for getting our building invaded by 3+ people and my partner killed because everyone knew where we were.

If vehicle moves as you jump out you take damage.

Faster it moves more damage you take.

If you player jumps out and doesn't take damage then some fuckery is happening.

It needs some tweaks but it feels pretty good so far. I still play(and enjoy) 3pp as we don't have 1pp matches on the Oceania server yet, it's a bit laggy for us playing on the Asian server.

I think both game modes are fun to play in their own way, I don't think I'll ever solely play one mode.

Had a duo's today where my buddy died around ~50 alive, we were in separate cars. I killed the team that killed him, and then another car driving by for a total of 4 kills. He says don't worry about quitting and just continue. So I ended up looting, driving and camping the houses just west of Mylta Power/Mini Mylta Power where the circle shrinks. I ended up getting my highest kill count ever - 13 kills!!! Placed 3rd tho, I died when there were 2 other players left, both singles. So close, but damn my previous kill record was 7, feels good.

The only way to play IMO, it gives you so much more freedom to be aggressive and just enjoy the game without having to worry about some guy laying prone under a ledge.

I'm getting real sick of the games where the zone just keeps spawning miles away so you're constantly playing catch up, you spend all that time running only to get sniped out of nowhere by some lucky Joe who happened to have the zone spawn on him.

Gamescom highlighted how shitty the scoring system is, not the circle itself.

Well if they made changes to the circle then scoring would work much better too.

Like have 2nd circle come 1 step behind the blue circle, that 2nd circle instakills if it hits you.

Can't stand it, but grudgingly accept it's existence, and hope it doesn't take too many resources away from the core game.

Sad news: FPP will be the core soon.

Finding a car in any mode gives you a huge advantage.

You can loot faraway places. No enemies, good loot, blue damage is consistent so you won't randomly die to another person/squad.

You can get to high value terrain before other players.

You can choose how to approach a circle.

You can use it as cover.

You can get more/better cars; very useful in squads, where you can have a convoy of mobile cover.

Is there a way to spectate while using a controller? Just says press A to go back to the menu.

My cousin plays with a PS4 controller & he has this same issue. Apparently their latest patch messed something up. So spectator mode sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

I didn't want to play the game until FPP was added, so I'd say I'm liking it a lot. There are definitely some tweaks to be made but overall it works fairly well.

My biggest complaint about the game would only be worse in TPP. For the final 10, people are mostly crawling around because it's too dangerous to pop up and get seen by everyone. But sometimes you have to in order to see where people are because going prone will cover your vision in grass. In 3rd person, you have a magical flying camera to tell you where people are. Sight and sound are huge in this game, and I feel like that camera is out of place.

However, and I don't know if this is because of the Gamescom tourney or just anecdotal experience, the last 3 days or so have had a TON more camping and less action in FPP for me.

Not sure why that would be restricted to FPP. Seems more likely that people would camp in TPP. I think it's just that people are realizing everything you said - you're rewarded a lot less for aggression.

The other day I had an enemy in my sites for a good 10 seconds. Just standing there. I had to strongly contemplate whether or not I should kill him because if I did, I know it would ping the map and everyone would know where I am. I said fuck it and shot him in the head. Not 5 seconds later I'm targeted by an SKS and dead as well. I even had a flash hider.

Man, the last PC game I played was Battlefield 1942, but as a PS4 only gamer I'm really itching to play this. It'd cost hundreds to upgrade my PC just for one game, and I'm not sure I can justify that.

I think I need to take a short break from the game, it's becoming frustrating. My last round sums up my evening, I'm shooting a guy, about to kill him and 180 instant Kar headshot, shit like that just makes me so mad, I swear it's impossible to hit anything else but the head with that gun. The Destiny 2 beta is coming at a great time for me.

if you're not trying to hit headshots with the kar you shouldn't be picking it up? thats 98% of it's appeal* You pick it up with the express purpose of exploding skulls lol

that wood grain the other 2%

That's the point of the game, luck and chance encounters.

The wrongest of opinions. You might have a point comparing both guns without any attachments.

But the UMP gets better with every single attachment. Having a decked out UMP is incredible in terms of controllable damage output.

I just find it a sub-standard AR. If I only had one weapon and it was between UMP & UZI, it would be the UMP. However if I've already got an AR the UZI makes a great secondary for CQC. With a stock, silencer and extended mag thing can shreed. Useless mid/long range, but that's what my AR's for.

Easily the best. You can't do bullshit with the camera, so if you want to see something, you need to expose your character. It's more tense, and more fun to me. Haven't gone back to TPP since it released.

I just wish they could get it where FPP stayed as default. Hate having to change it after every match.

If I can't get a death camera or post-death spectate mode, can I at least subscribe for a "Poochie died on his way back to his home planet" notification?

"xPimpLord420x, after instakilling you with an AKM headshot while running full speed past a doorway, totally wasted the 8x scope and Kar98k they looted from you. Instead, they died embarrassingly by getting run over by a buggy at rank #41."

I tried Reshade.. I get decent FPS with it, but I've been getting killed like crazy. I'm wondering if it somehow causes some lag or something. I may have to remove it and see if it changes anything. Maybe I've just had really bad luck with the game lately.

Funny enough I installed and setup Reshade, my next game to play with my squad of friends I was the last alive and killed six people. All of which I should not have lived through but I somehow did it and it was amazing. Really wish I had recorded it too because holy shit I was so pumped with adrenaline it was just addictive. Seriously just give people PUBG and they'll be set for their endorphin needs.

On another note, here is a clip of my squadmates getting wrecked for not waiting. Though we had literally zero meds because we dropped and went to army base alone but could not find any meds at all. Super fun though.

FPP is the only way to play. People have to exercise a bit of judgement for how other people might behave in any given scenario rather than brainlessly sitting in cover and waiting for free information.

The first GAF squad FPP game I got into, I spent the first 10 minutes or so running endlessly through the rain, and then driving a motorcycle through the rain, until I finally found a UAV like 4 miles away.

Thanks to everyone for the carry. I did get the jeep, revive a teammate, and got lucky with the final kill of the game, but otherwise I didn't do much at all. I guess it can be that easy with a competent squad. :p

*edit* The next game was another win and no one died.
