PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

It should tell you something how desperate H1Z1 has become with these massive sales lately. They're rightfully scared of the competition.
You really have an issue with KOTK don't you? I remember earlier when you told someone to avoid it because it's trash. Is it not possible for people to like both? How long did you play it before you just dismissed it and what made you so upset with it?

I'm fine for people having issues with the game but I have yet to see you explain why exactly. Would be nice to have some context.

20+ some hours before it got split off into king of the kill. I feel like the game hasn't had any meaningful changes in the two years I've owned it. PUBG has made more progress in the past month than H1Z1 has since it's release. I mean shit, next update for PUBG we're getting a new weapon, has H1Z1 ever added a single new weapon to the game? For the amount of revenue/concurrent players the game has it's disgusting just how little has changed.

In comparison to PUBG I do think it's trash, I think it's trash compared to the original playerunknowns battle royale mod for Arma 2/3 as well. I feel like the arcadey jump around and shoot/jump out of a moving car at 80 mph and be able to accurately aim within a moments notice mechanics are directly antithetical to the core concept of a battle royale mode, where patience and observation should be stronger traits for survival than twitch reflexes and high sensitivity settings.

Either way I'm just trying not to waste people's time. It's obvious that H1z1's on it's way out, why back the losing horse? The game had a lot of potential 2 years ago, but they haven't done anything with it.

Buddy and I got out first win in duos last night. Killed 23 people between us, went on an absolute tear at the beginning. I was rocking a suppressed UMP9(underrated imo) whilst in Pochinki and my buddy lucked out and found a suppressor for his Scar about 5 minutes into the match.

Ended up dying as the 3rd person left to the blue zone after taking out the 4th guy who was landing shots on my mate. Fortunately he sealed the win as the last guy had no idea where was being shot from due to the supressor.

Appreciate the response. I just recently hit 20 hours with it as well and I'm just about 50 hours into PUBG. You're clearly coming from a different point of view with the game having played it over a much longer period of time than I. So who knows, maybe the newness will wear off sooner with KOTK than PUBG but as for now I'm really enjoying it. But I respect your opinion completely, if Daybreak's progress has really been that bad since the beginning, you're probably completely correct in your assessment. But you don't feel even $10 for a completely new player to BR games is a good deal if they wanted to try that first over PUBG? The game clearly still has a lot of concurrent players even though it's below PUBG atm.

I'm so stupid. Just bought it but find out I already own it.
lol, whoops. Give it to a friend!

The next patch really needs to do something about lag. I had a round where I dodged all of a guy's bullets with a tiny bit of health left, only to get teleported 30 yards back outside in the open after I ran into a house, a guy who appeared in the door frame as a flash for half a second before teleporting back outside so I wasted my shots, and a time where I died because the game insisted I was stuck in the wheel of my buggy and being pulled backwards as I tried to run inside a garage.

Yep, the other day in solos I almost gave up on it until they patch it because of being unable to do much of anything. Be in a house, open a door, walk in the room, then I'm suddenly down the hall. That seemed to keep on happening several times in each house. Outside it wasn't quite as bad.

I also don't know if it's more prevalent in solos or what, but it was pretty bad. Maybe they've done some server side patches since then. Think this was Saturday.

We'll see this thursday / friday hopefully. The desync / lag this weekend made me quit a few times.

If this game isn't still a buggy mess in a year, I will be shocked. I think it's gotten a whole lot bigger than they expected.

I had a match about an hour ago where I literally couldn't leave the house I entered. No doors would open, could't pick up anything and yet I never disconnected. Had to quit out manually.

And last night I was doing quite well and progressing into the late game when this happened. To say I was mildly annoyed would be an understatement.

Got stuck in a trench and died from fall damage... It looked like such good cover too!

I wish releasing alt rotated your character to match your view, rather than resetting your view to what it was when you pressed alt. It's really disorienting to have your view change without moving the mouse.

I just had three rounds in a row where I jumped all by myself, only to see another player pop into existence about 100 yards from the ground, right ahead of me, always closer to a gun than I am, and then when I try to fight them the game loses its shit and starts teleporting them around so they're impossible to hit.

At least one round I got a 12 gauge, emptied it right into a guy with no armor at point blank, only for him to survive and pop me in the leg with an AK to kill me.

Hope they find a sweet spot for footstep volume, others have mentioned it way before me but it does feel a touch too loud at the moment.

That's really weird, i haven't experienced anything like that in around 15-20 rounds.

I really want this after seeing a couple of the Easy Allies playing it. It looks like a whole load of fun...but too broke unfortunately. I've still yet to get Persona either so this is going to to have to wait a while. Hope it gets a good sale during the summer and still has a decent population.

As with most Early Access games it's hard to tell how further support will go just based on the first couple of months. H1Z1 also got a good amount of support initially before it turned into a slotmachine.

H1Z1 had a lot of promise when Sony was still behind it and pretty much has been stuck with a graveyard crew at Daybreak ever since SOE backed out. Bluehole has consistently shown amazing diligence and competence in their work on PUBG since pre-alpha and there doesn't look to be any risk of them slowing down.

I'm fine for people having issues with the game but I have yet to see you explain why exactly. Would be nice to have some context.

After almost 100 hours in H1Z1, I echo most of ffejero's points. KotK is a fine game of you're completely new to the genre but it might also kill a lot of peoples' interest for the wrong reasons. Aside from the influx of hackers that are plaguing pretty much every match you jump into now, hit registration and desync became too much for me. These issues are present in PUBG but don't feel nearly as severe. The shotgun glitches were really bad at one point where you would blast a dude two or three times and your shots would ghost right through them and they just turn around and pop you. Things like that and Daybreak constantly pushing back updates and anytime they finally pushed one out it would feel incredibly bare bones and bugs/glitches they claimed to fix still persisted.

It's fine to try I would say but people should really go in with tempered expectations.

Thanks for the games yesterday SamuraiX! Sorry for bailing!

GGs man! No worries at all. Hope to play again with you soon. :)

I love this game so much. The rush as you get into the smaller circles just can't be beat.

Do we know what the developer plans to add to the game in future updates?

Thursday 20th we should get .45 ACP Vector along with general balance and performance tuning, at least.

I've yet to see a single hacker in H1Z1. But I will agree with hit reg. It's being fixed consistently in their beta updates.

I just had an amazing run (5 kills, #4.... well it's amazing for me) come to a tearjerking end when my trusty buggy (which already claimed at least one victim) actually got destroyed when I couldn't run over a guy on a hill near the very end.

This was the first time seeing a buggy actually get disabled, and its tires disappearing like something out of a cartoon as it suddenly stopped completely had me more upset than the realization that I was going to get out and face the music.

Well, that's what happens when Ambition hits the brick-wall of Budget.

Also, SOE didn't "Back Out". SOE got renamed Daybreak.

Daybreak already had a pathetic budget under Sony for being a PC-focused studio of a console-producing company (You can thank Kaz Hirai for slashing their budget and shifting control over them from Sony Music Group to PlayStation after he became CEO) - And now that they're owned by another Belt-Tightener it's only getting worse.

Lesson learned: those two story garages with the half-closed shutters are not safe from the red zone, even if you're on the far side from the windows.

This game has caught my interest but I'm wondering how it would run on my system, I have the following specs:

i5-2500k @4.0GHz
8GB RAM
G1 970 GTX
SSD

I keep hearing the game runs pretty bad so I'm wondering about my system.

Good games tonight, discord peeps. I'm Sinjun on there btw.

Everything was going great until I shotgun blasted a dude twice from behind and he didn't go down. Is that a bug or is it possible to have enough armor to withstand that?

Back to back issues tonight. Ugh. Both with friends. 3 of us lost connection to the host and then a duos where we locked up and I had to actually do an end task to kill the game while we were out in the water. Drove over a buddy with the boat and he was crawling at the bottom of the water after he got knocked out. lol

Post Easter gift in form of dev blog is a nice thing to see.
Kinda chilling with playing now and will jump when the patch drops again.

It's a cool looking gun but will submachines guns have a place after the initial looting stage? It seems like the gun you carry because you have no options. Shotguns are more effective in the same close range, assault rifles are better everywhere else.

Vector .45 ACP should be very viable mid to short range SMG for end game, it should be very stable and deal a lot more damage per bullet than UMP or UZI. Even now UMP is somewhat viable all way to the end, but less so than e.g. AK spraying from close range.

I gave in last night and finally bought it, I do not regret anything.
I love using the Scar or M416/Shotty combo, so satisfying and surprisingly effective up to mid-ranges.

That sounds good. I've never been a great shotgunner in fpses, so it would be nice to have a quality SMG.

Got it running just about okay, all medium except AA which I need on High. 40-45fps when the game gets going, drops don't seem to be related to intensity since I can keep 40 in a firefight, and it'll drop to 20 for a moment when I'm doing nothing

Played 4 matches, died instantly in the first one, one crashed because (I think) I overextended on the graphical options, top 50 in the third and top 25 in the last one. Only got one kill, in that 4th one. Was badly struggling for gear, and had to search a house that I knew had already been searched. Found a shotgun, and the guy who get there before me happened to strafe in front of me looking out the window. Crouched up behind him, boom, one shot to the back and I suddenly had a lot of gear :D

Is there a way of transferring everything from a corpse to yourself? Ended up dying cos I found a safe little spot and was pissing about with my inventory for too long, and had to sprint to the safezone in a race against the blue shit. Got caught up in it, and was trying to shoot someone else in the back who was also sprinting for the safe zone. Only hit him twice (SCAR iron-sights are dreadful), someone else was taking potshots at me, I was stuck in the gas and by the time I got to the safe zone I had like 10% hp. Knew the guy I'd shot at earlier was behind a tree but had no option to try and get there myself and bandage up, since I was in the open with at least 2 people knowing I was there. As I approached the tree he leaned out and cracked me in one shot :(

Great game
