PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Just installed this on my system. GTX 1070 FTW with a 1080p gsync monitor. Seems very stuttery, even though my monitor says gsync is on. Running in fullscreen. Anyone have any advice to get better performance?

Before i recommended low but its very optimized now and highly recommend Ultra if you can run it. On GTX 1080 TI i cant see any drop in frames going Low to Ultra. Can better determine where to land from airplane as you see all buildings and the game looks more beatiful.

This is bizarre, something like this wouldn't even just be GPU bound (though I'm not sure why someone on a 1080ti thinks their point of reference would be tangible between either setting), it'd be on your hard drive's performance as well as new chunks get loaded.

I also noticed that on Medium or lower shadows, interiors of houses when looking in from outside etc. now render very badly and close to you. Had to pump it to High so shit wouldn't popin few meters in front of me.

Proceeded to lose like 8 games in a row (made it to #5 in one and less than 40 in every other) with all very frustrating deaths.

People were playing insanely cunning and i was always wrestling with the controls/camera angle.

Do people usually hip fire or iron sights? I can't work out what's better. Indoors iron sights just seem to cause confusion.

Three deaths tonight were due to iron sight wrestling and shoulder swapping at the last moment.

Depends on situation. If target is relatively close I just hold down RMB and burst or full auto target down. If fighting in house distances are so tiny you can just hold RMB and spray from hip. When there is more range I always ADS.

Going to ADS obliterates bullet spread and becomes recoil pattern control.

Always at least hold down RMB for that "aimed hipfire" so bullet spread isn't all over.

Finally jumped in, got up to the top 15 in my first game with a friend of mine. Have had luck getting into the top 50 at least so far, but getting past that last 25, that's something else. Still, Awesome game, loving it, especially fun in duo!

I came sooo close to #1. The final area is so small and I had mid and long range weapons against a shotgun. I barely took out the third guy with a grenade by change because I couldn't physically lift my rifle standing between a tree and the edge of the electricity field. Lobbed every grenade I had...which in turn gave the last guy an advantage since it was a cloud of smoke we were fighting in.

Holy cow the adrenaline was fucking pouring on at the end of this I can't believe we pulled it off, I was actually fucking DOWN at one point and my buddy pulled me up from the brink, we managed to get really lucky and my rifle was scoped out so I pegged a few guys in a REALLY sketchy last stand-ish scenario, ending with a pretty long (two minutes) standoff with the last guy whom my buddy just dropped. On my first day, too!!!

Whew, after 13 games, it's finally dinnertime.

Had to swim across the channel to make it to the circle in time, lost 3/4 of my life getting into the safe zone. Luckily most players murdered each other on the bridges prior to the circle shrink onto the island. And apparently no one was watching the water the entire time.

Not a lot of kills, but victory tastes no less sweet. I really need to do some team battle with GAF sometime.

The rain does not make any sound anymore for me since the last update. I only hear the occasional thunder

Yeah for me it's the same but not in every rain match i don't know whats causing it.
But i feel it's more an advantage because if the enemy has rain he can not hear aswell as you in that moment.

Got stuck in between a bed and closet right as people came into my building. Just floating mid-air while they shot me.

Good stuff.

This is so odd that actually have GFX settings on low is kind of cheating!!, it reminds me of Far Cry 1 (or was it 2) MP where you would set the graphics to low and all foliage would not be displayed so you might think you were hiding in long grass but in fact your just crouching in open space and easy to see!!, i hope they change this otherwise whats the point of having graphical settings on anything but low as you'll be handicapping yourself!!

I have only just started playing this game and it there no hit indicator to give you a rough idea of where the shots are coming from?, i have been killed many a time without even knowing where i was getting shot from at least if i get killed show me where the player who killed me actually was!

Great game though, just got an update and looks like rain has been added which is nice!

Foliage setting now actually barely does anything. The only thing it does is get rid of very distant trees and bushes which 99% won't have any impact on gameplay.

The foliage has actually been fixed so it's the same for everyone. Only far reaching trees and bushes are slightly different on different settings. And are you playing with a headset? Because you can head where the bullets are coming from.

This game is great. All the best parts of DayZ rolled into a 40 minute package.

Last night the final few circles closed in around the military base, and with the wall chasing us in our Dacia it was open season for running people down on the bridge. Probably one of the best moments in this game for me to date.

There is no bullet penetration.

Yet.
Not sure if you're referring to just this example or not but there definitely is bullet penetration in the game. Got shot more than once through a wooden wall in one of the smaller homes. And of course the doors.

Small wooden fences and doors break, bullets don't come through. There is difference.

That is all going to be changed in time. The inventory system will be improved and the crate/loot is being re-worked. They will eventually charge for crates after launch, like H1Z1.

Just got down to top 2 for the first time!

Holy crap! What a rush. Definitely trying my best to get there in future. My last few sessions have been more frustrating than fun but that just injected the fun and thrill right back in.

I think a good strategy is:
- play it safe and only engage in combat when you have to
- when you get to the top 15-20 or so, play it quiet and let others fight it out before you move much. Move as little as possible and stay prone
- only swoop in on sloppy seconds/distracted kills
- stay as prone and immobile as possible

10 kills, nice!

Yeah it was a good game. Was hiding in a house like a bitch for most of the game, some guy stopped his car and came in so I snuck out and stole his car. Then I almost died to some guy camping on a roof but instead of continuing to shoot he decided to throw a grenade which gave me time to recover. As soon as he popped his head back up I lit him up with the AK. Final 4-5 kills were fun, M416 (I think) is a beast. Last two kills were with nades, I never used them before so I was worried I would fuck up somehow and kill myself.

Keep in mind with prone that grass has set rendering distance. If player is far enough out he sees you prone on flat surface.

I was playing a duo and we decided to T-bone a car right in front of us just to see what would happen...Their car was fine but we went a mile into the air just to land right in front of them with a sliver of health. They shot the car once and it blew up before we could even run away.

Good times...

Or hide in bushes/shrubs, some players go right by you.

I have a bad habit when I see some guy across the street or close to me, I'm like a magnet and I just automatically try to hunt down those I see lol.
