The most kills I've gotten from playing solo rounds was camping in rooms with a shotgun ready.
I wish I had a better strategy since it kind of sucks that I was able to do this at least twice. Otherwise I feel no confidence and it's certainly not fun when you're being shot at and have no idea where the fire is coming from.

Camping is fine. The point isn't really to rack up a bunch of kills but to survive until the end. My friend was 2nd place with 1 kill and he was rewarded over 600 currency. On the other hand I was 20th place with 3 kills and only got about 200 currency.
I think camping with a shotgun facing the door is a fine way to survive. The rules of the game make it so you can't camp for too long unless you get lucky with the area restrictions. Camping doesn't guarantee your survival anyway since I've camped plenty of times and people have been able to on occasion storm me and my team without too much difficulty.
In other shooters camping may be a cheap trick but I find that in this game it's a viable option. Bonus points for closing doors behind you and leaving loot on the ground to set a trap.

Just played this at a friends house and wow was it fun. Most of the time it was just me hiding but man it gets intense at times. Is it worth picking up if I'll be playing by myself or with randoms most of the time?

Chronos_RX is an up and coming variety streamer. I watched him play and he's an average player to good player. The guy plays everything. He's pretty chill.

So i won my first 3 matches this week-end. 2 in Solo 1 in duo.
I have around 40 rounds in solo, 20 in duo and 20 in squad type of game play.
What i think really help me is that I have been able to read other players movement before they did them. I knew where they were going to show up, so I had the jump on them. Knowing when to move and hold, shot and avoid is critical. Awareness is key. Camping is also critical. Everyone camps to a certain point in a match
I still do mistake, but i'm way more often in the top 10 now.

Had to divert landing because of an overrun in the town I was aiming for. I ended up at an L-shaped yellow house with a Micro Uzi, some attachments for guns I didn't have access to, and a pair of fingerless gloves. After bemoaning my piddly haul, I open the door and start running when I realize that there is an angry fellow battle royale-er in front of me about to unleash the AK on me. I spray a huge burst of UZI at him or her, most or all of which completely miss the mark. Meanwhile, I get plunked several times while running back inside and shutting the door, leaving me with one or two pixels wide of a health bar. I move quickly to the other door and exit the opposite end of the house from where I had come across my nemesis. I run out and take a quick right and end up taking a knee in the crook of the L of the outer house. I figured that I'd YOLO with the last five rounds of my magazine when they came to me. I hear footsteps to my right. They're coming around outside and are probably going to turn and shoot me where I crouch. The footsteps are closer and I know it's almost time.
All of a sudden, I hear shots both to the left and right. From around the line of sight that the left edge of the building, I see somebody coming in from the field and firing at my original stalker, whom I still don't see. After about ten seconds, field dude dies. Then the footsteps from the right start and I see the victor IN THE MIDDLE OF A RELOAD ANIMATION. I unload my last five shots into the chest and head. On the fifth one, they go down. I creep out to see if the party had any more guests, but all was quiet. Got me two ARs, scopes, ammo, first aids, and energy drinks. Ended up making top ten before I finally got put down by a silenced sniper.
God I love this game.

True - i was mainly talking about in the 5-15 circle range though when people are clustered.
Excellent point, i got two kills on my #2 game while hidden in a bush.
Uhh are there any known glitches you can do with the parachute?
Had a match just now where I jumped from the plane at the exact same moment as another player and he somehow made it all the way to the other side of the map where neither myself nor any other player made it even remotely that far. :/
He basically went as fast as the plane itself just zooming past everyone.

Congrats!!!
While in freefall, your character's fall angle matches your camera angle.
Hold W to accelerate the fall, point the direction you want to go, then raise the camera so it's directly flat at the horizon. You can't see down but you can see roughly where you are on the minimap. You'll basically fly sideways and can cover most of the map that way.

I love watching these guys play. I want to try out the game but I feel like this could be one of those games that I enjoy watching more than playing.
I noticed yesterday more people were watching it on Twitch than were playing it on Steam.
I thought the same, I even refunded it once but after a few days I bought it again and I enjoy both watching people play it different than me, and play it myself.
It's on their site, and you need the premium subscription to watch it.

Argh! Got stuck in a bad spot in the top 2 and got SCAR'd by the winner. I couldn't see shit and had to move.

Man I'm tired of missing dead on with first shot and they do a spinning jump 1 shot kill on me.
Edit: Gosh this is the type of shit I'm talking about, I'm just done today. I just can never get any luck, then I watch streams and they get lucky so many times it makes the game look way more fun. Every player I go against pulls some superhuman crap like this. I know I should've aimed higher for a headshot but jeez I put at least 10 bullets in him and already shot at him earlier too. Just no luck. I thought it was a melee kill and I was so mad, but I guess jumping up stairs and shooting shotgun is a legit tactic.

You were in disadvantage in that situation no matter what. If enemy has Tier 2 or better chest and head you need pump quite a bit with UMP so him having shotty gave him edge, jump fuckery or not.
Also agreed, streamers get so much potatoes against them that game looks so easy and fun.
I know but damn when I have tier 2/3 stuff I go down so quick it felt worthless. Just these things keep happening every game I need to take a break lol.
I hear you. Lack of consistency in TTK and hit detection is taking so much out of experience and replacing it with salt.

The game has serious desync issues, no doubt it, but in that case, ump vs shotgun in a stairwell, he probably killed you before half those bullets you shot were fired on the server, so it looks worse than it likely was. Your client doesn't realize your dead for a tick or 2 so you keep firing when in reality you are already dead.

He probably had like a sliver of health left too. Nothing beats a shotgun at close range. Which sucks for me, because I'm fairly useless with them.
I'd recommend, in that situation, to keep moving. Holding position there makes you an easy target. With an smg, at that range, you don't really need to RMB-aim either. Just move and hip-fire.
Wow they must have both been near death.
The circle around the end is pretty lethal.

This game runs like crap on my i7+GTX860. Any tips on making it run smoothly?
If you mean it runs under 60 FPS, then you aren't alone. I don't think anybody is consistently hitting 60 in this game.
There's a tweak guide on steam which can help.
I have an i5 6600k and gtx 980 and get 60-80 in some areas and 20-30 in others. Just depends.

860 is mobile GPU right? What i7? The game is pretty heavy on CPUs. If it's a laptop i7 it maybe a 2 core 4 thread CPU with lowish clocks. There are guides, like the one mentioned above to get the most out of your hardware though.
Ah I didn't know that its damage got higher towards the end. Makes sense.

Oh yeah, the last circles chunk hard, which is a good thing because tanking the circle should not be an option at that point in the game.
