Finally bought this after all the hype. Played 3 games, made it to #20 with 2 kills, which I don't think is horrendous given the odds.

Most of it did consist in hiding inside a University for about 20 minutes though... Found some sweet ass trainers though.

People cannot resist First Aid Kits and 5.56. If they see those on the ground, they lose all sensory awareness and run straight for them.
 
Instead of killing you, i think the blue circle should just nerf you... Ie lose inventory or slow your speed. Right now it's just a meta of center camping or edge camping

I like how it is right now. It gives players another thrilling aspect to the game and it's honestly refreshing to me. It really feels like it's straight out of Battle Royale, but a blue circle instead of a collar.

Often times I die because of it, but it's not frustrating. I end up playing sloppy, rushing to the play zone instead of alt looking around to watch my back and flanks, someone further behind me spots me and gets the drop on me. Makes me play that much smarter the next time I join a round.

Without it, you'd have endless camping like in DayZ. But I do wonder, does it pick the zones based on where the most action is at the start? Cause I've only seen it circle around the south end military base just once.
 
Complaining about camping in this game is like complaining about CTs camping in Counter-Strike. All in the game yo.

I camp 90% of the time. Camping is definitely a legitimate strategy in ALL shooters, my point is, it's nice that rounds don't last forever due to two players endlessly camping on the opposite ends of the map. Camping is viable, but it's not the only way to victory, it is a strategy in your gameplan book.

I blame the starting lobby, worst part about the game, people yelling from the top of their lungs while grabbing every possible weapon and try to make as much noise as possible before the game starts. And hell, even actually in the game i'd rather not hear insults from the dude who is lying dead in front of me.

If I have a sniper with an 8x scope, I like to zero out to 200m, otherwise I just leave it on 100m and manually compensate.

Generally, I'm not engaging outside of 200m no matter what gear I have.

First solo Chicken Dinner. I have had countless #2's I should've won. I always get the drop on the other guy but he always has a shotgun, and magically always one-hits me. This time I decided to take a shotgun to the end, and it paid off. This is after playing 181 rounds. It's hilarious that I only killed 3 people and won.

Between this and Mario Kart, so much salt is in my gaming life right now.
 
4 hours in and I got my first #2.

Pretty happy with that.

Gutted I didn't get my chicken dinner though.

Very fun game with shite controls. Interacting with items and the gunplay feels terrible.
 
In that case, i got this in my second solo game by solid snaking it along a cornfield and shotgunning my way to victory. I feel i stole it off the other guys, but ehhh!

This game is making me rage quit like no other since dark souls 1.

The gun play still hasn't clicked for me and I'm pretty much dead in every encounter I which I don't surprise the other guy.
 
Just want to say im pleasantly surprised by my new builds performance. G4560 and a 1050ti with 16GB ram and on a mixture of high and low settings, getting 40-50 fps at 1080p on a $450 build.

Played two games, finished in the 20s camping hard lol

Are you using single shot mode for the assault rifles? Don't beat yourself up over losing. Give it some time, 7-10 hours before it'll begin to really click. Until then just have some fun learning how to approach situations and new areas, buildings, encounters, etc.

It's just a game after all, my friend :]
 
Was one of two men left alive last night in a duos game. My buddy was downed and couldn't heal up as gas moves in.

I was just prone in an open field, but I knew the only opponent was near or in the only building left in the zone. Had no scope which made it even harder. Ended up getting killed without being able to see where he was.

I think he was on the side of a building, but that's a real bummer in a 1v1 situation.
 
Fucking crashed twice in a row and a squad game. Once after landing and opening my inventory then loading into a match.

They really need to do something about rejoining and at least being able to spectate after getting back in.
 
You know what? I kinda wish this game was even more like Battle Royale.

Like having giant speakers blaring out messages when the game reaches certain milestones, like when the player area is shrinking or 50 players remaining.

Would add to the surrealness.
 
Got down to 50-something, and I'd gone through 6 buildings...0 guns. ZERO. Holy hell, what the shit? They weren't looted either. That had to be the crummiest match I'd ever had.

Yeah I had a game like that today. Eventually I found a car and drove somewhere else and finally found a gun but yeah it felt frustrating. I'm a masochist though so I role play it as I'm in a dramatic struggle and really bad situation, how far can I make it. I have fun. Killing someone with just a pistol when they have a better weapon is immensely satisfying.
 
Finally got another chicken dinner after starving for a week. 2 mini-uzi kills, 3 AKM kills, 1 Kar98 kill, and one exploding buggy kill to top it off. When this game is good it is really good.

+1 on this

The next level of immersion. Greene is a big fan of the original Battle Royale so hopefully that could be included in the finishing touches for the game.

The one thing PUBG lacks compared to H1Z1 is a very clear sound indicator whenever the playzone barrier is about to shrink or in the process of shrinking. The barring horns and drums in KotK is a nice touch.
 
I kinda like that the devs are supposedly going to add another circle early on in the game - I feel like it's a little too slow for the first 10 or so minutes. After the first circle shrinks there's some pretty serious downtime.

Really? I feel lime the gunplay is one of the best thing about this game.
 
Dived in last night, and loving it. Had a 3 kill streak which made me feel very macho, lol.

Of course, maybe my macho card can be taken away because I am using a controller with this game, lol.
 
Just wrapped up my first three games ever, 33rd, 21st, 3rd(!). Yea i only killed 2 people and missed a bunch of shots but years of metal gear have turned me into a stealthy mf-er.


I'll need to make gaf friends for duo amd squads.

That would be annoying as hell when trying to listen for people coming.

It's bad enough when the damn plane comes in just as someone is creeping by.
 
^Huh? The gunplay is great in this game. It's one of the things that makes this BR so much better than the others.

I don't know, this will probably fuck you even more when you get a bad first circle. So you'll be forced to start nearer mid-map every match, which will make it more boring.

The RNG gets a lot of flak, but IMHO that's one the reasons what makes the game shine in that it makes every match very different.

It might be great compared to the competition but it's not when compared to the best in the genres (MGS5 for third person, CS/COD for FPS etc etc).
