PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Woo! Got my first Chicken Dinner with a squad. My teammates have played a ton more than me, so I was definitely just the gun following orders, but I made a good contribution with four kills.

Squads is way chiller since the stakes don't feel as immediate and devastating due to not dying instantly, but it still gets your heart pumping at the end.

Yeah, solo feels like a survival horror, squads and duo are more "fun", there's a lot less tension.

Lately I've been messing around in solo trying to get good with the crossbow. I just can't pinpoint when the bolt drops.

I've had that issue too, and from what people are saying, the bolt takes 8 full seconds to cross 100 meters. Sounds like a bug

Up close the thing is amazing but I'm still trying to get the hang of it at range. I think the bolt does take forever to move.

Switched to play on US servers last night (previously playing on EU) and the difference is night and day.

The improved tickrate makes gunfights actually responsive and not just a crapshoot.

They really need to sort the EU servers out.

Got my first Chicken Dinner last night! It was in squads with 2 friends and a random who didn't have a mic.

So so so tense. At one point we got into a shootout and all 3 of my teammates went down, got to revive them, fend off the other squad. At the end it was 3 vs 1 and I team killed my friend by accident!!!

Ended up winning because the last guy died outside of the zone, so that felt a little cheese but damn, happy to finally get a W after about 25-30 hours of playing.

This is probably the only subgenre of shooter where I can hit top 500 ranking with a 1.05 KDR.
Yeah... I'm by no means an expert fps player, but my k/d ratio in shooters is usually in the 1.2-1.5 range. This game? 0.8.

Feels bad man.

I'd love a practice range. I'm just *awful* with sniper rifles.

I had a headshot lined up last night with the M24 (first time using that beast), took the shot and it missed completely. I've no idea why it happened - the dude was about 100-120m away.

I was in the outskirts of the white circle strolling some hills a bit south of Pochinki when I hear a vehicle passing nearby. I take a gander and see that it's a buggy making its way to a few buildings. He parks by a fence and starts exploring, so I creep up to the fence and prone. Then I wait. I hear him moving a bit, then some silence as he goes off to the further buildings, but I keep waiting. Then I hear moving again, closer, closer, and he gets back into his buggy with his backpack full of spoils. He's in the driver's seat then I spring right up from the fence and shoot him down in cold blood and take it all for myself.

Had the worst game in terms of loot goes. I looted 10 houses which hadn't been looted yet since they still had healing items and other stuff but all I found were freaking pistols. Managed to get down to 5 left including myself by just hiding but I ended up being surrounded on all sides in an open field.

Anyone have an issue where the buildings don't fully load in for a couple minutes after you've landed? They look like a Google Maps overlay for at least 45 seconds or more in like 75% of the games I play, which means I can't enter the buildings and begin looting for a bit.

The best kind of moments. Feels even more glorious camping bridges in Squad games and robbing corpses that spent a majority of the game at Novo/military airbase.

Two Words knows a thing or two about camping bridges.

How much RAM do you have? Are you running the game off an HDD or SSD?

Same question.

Now I don't have that problem, and only use a HDD for everything (7200rpm forget cache size, but ithas one)., I also have 16GB DDR4 2400 Ram. So despite being on the lower end of ideal for this game (g4560/1050ti), the games runs really well for me, 45-75 fps, on mixed settings.

It's a fairly common issue I think, but when it happens to me it only lasts a couple seconds.

For reference, I'm running the game on a HDD and 8GB ram.

Hell of a game. Landed on the outskirts, couldn't find a single decent gun, drove near the circle, killed a guy who was kitted out, guessed where the center of the circle would end correctly (luckily), and lay in wait until there were 3 guys left when the fun started.

I will keep playing, but I feel I've 'beaten' the game now, so I can relax a bit and just fuck around more.

Great game.

Lowering draw distance to medium has solved my issues with buildings loading. It was frequent before, now even if I jump off early they are always fully loaded by the time I reach the ground.

Yeah I've heard accounts of it being a RAM issue (either having less than 12 GB or not having up to date DDR4) or running off HDD (which makes less sense to me).

Dammit almost got my first win. Long before the finale, i notice, that i only had 30 shoots on my best weapon left for some reason. I thought: "This is going to bite me in the ass later ... ". So only one other guy was left, he panics, jumps into the open, i have a free line of sight, behind cover and i shoot ! ... run out of ammo, he hits me and the wall does the rest =(

What causes the healing glitch? Because I was late in a game last night and once I finally needed to heal I was unable to. Frustrating as hell. At least my squad went on to win the game however.

I'm still trying to claw back from the first ~80 rounds or so where I played it too safe and hardly killed anyone. I think I'm at 0.65 right now, although the last game I played I killed 7 of the top 10, I still came 2nd though...

I got my first win a day or so ago after 169 rounds, and it was such a relief to finally get there and feel like I've conquered the game somewhat. I wasn't sure if I'd want to keep playing but I'm still enjoying it now. It's way less stressful and I'm way more inclined to instigate fights and chase people down than I was before, but as soon as the player count drops to 10 the heart rate still goes up.

I wish they would throw in a few more random cars..

it would also be cool to have a 200 player mode where two airplanes drop 100 each on different sides of the map.

Damn tough games this morning, couldn't even crack top 10.

Think I was getting to complacent in feeling safe as I hadn't seen anyone for ages and dropped in a safe zone I thought.

Also you know you've played too much when you hear a plane go over your house and you instinctively look out the window for the supply drop.

Just got to #2. Had the drop on the guy. Choked. Died.

Fuck cunt bollocks shit arse. Fuckkkkkk.

I've been #2 once. I had the drop on him, had a 4x scope on my Scar-L, he hadn't spotted me. Then the game glitched out and wouldn't let me use the scoped view. So I had to basically start taking pot shots at him. He out-pot shotted me. This was before I knew about the energy drinks and painkillers.

Been #2 4 times now but cannot for the life of me get the damn dinner.

And most times I have seen the enemy first, but because I was laying prone on a slight hill it wouldn't let me point my gun upwards to shoot them. So frustrating. But the adrenaline rush is top notch

Monthly update hits May 25th. If I'm not mistaken it addresses performance.

Will that improve the responsiveness of opening/closing doors, picking stuff up and getting in and out of cars??

Also whats the likely hood of them adding a 'Pick Up All' button?

I would love them to have modifiers, like pistol only, smg only, melee only matches.

Have they said if there actually going to adding new maps?, i think overall this is a bad idea unless they do it so for 3 days its 1 map and then rotates out another map for the next 3 days etc

Got to go at him once it's down to 2.

I've won three games the last two days and in each one I rushed the final dude with an SMG and murdered him while he was lying down/trying to sit up so he could aim properly.

RUSH HIM

(only final dude though till then I ain't doing shit)

The key to getting in and out of vehicles is standing still first (don't hold any keys and make sure you've released any other key before pressing F).

Also, use Tab and drag and drop when picking up stuff. It's much faster than pressing F or right clicking.

It'd be a nightmare as far as voice chat goes and if you don't have voice chat then it's just 50 people all running off into different directions with no teamwork. Unless of course you somehow manage to get 50 people in a premade group.

That being said I think a larger squad mode of maybe ten teams of 10 would be fun, although looting may be a problem at that point.

Wouldn't be much different than Battlefield public matches, people pretty much wouldn't be looking for teamwork at that point. 8 person squads right now are pretty messy when you try to stick together.

Only big issue I see is it'd be ripe for TK trolling.
