PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Got second in a solo today...I heard the last guy shoot and kill the guy that got third, so I had a general direction, but then I couldn't see him. Suddenly he is shooting me and I realized where he was: he had the best spot in the circle with a tree right next to a rock.

I had EXTREME lag here for the first time after 40 hours of game.
Anyone had this issue ? I went from South American server to US server and nothing change. I guess it came from my part but i made a ping test and i had like 80 with my server. Maybe it was mainly packet loss.

Meh, game is fine as is and while it sucks I'm still able to play perfectly fine. Rather a good patch that doesn't fuck shit up.

Now, that's actually disappointing, especially as it's a day off here in Norway today and I had planned to spend all day playing the new patch. Oh, well.

But maybe run the test server more than one day next time?

The game was crashing way too much yesterday, there was something wrong with the patch.

I think we'll be on the test server most the weekend. 3 day weekend here in the UK so was hyped to get some good games in on the new patch, uber disappointed in the delay but I understand the need to.

Nah, the jank and performance issues are starting to take the shine off at this point, some of the changes and fixes are desperately needed.

More importantly, this makes their track record of patches incredibly poor at this point. They've skipped multiple "weekly" patches and now they're delaying their second "monthly" update. It really sours my outlook and saps my confidence on the future of the game, especially considering how they originally sold their Early Access plans.

Bluehole and PlayerUnknown both made a big thing over how Battlegrounds wasn't going to be another perpetually delayed, forever Early Access survival battle royale. They pitched themselves against the foibles of games like DayZ, H1Z1, etc, and now they seem to already be heading down that path.

In 2 months after being released to EA, they've delayed only one weekly patch. The skip was when they took a week off because of a Korean national holiday.

So there's no need to be so god damn dramatic.

There we go. The pivot away from "wow they sure are updating this way more than other early access games!" that inevitably happens a few months after release.

Everyone that owns the game can play the patch right now, but don't that stop you please continue raining on the parade.

I don't think there's anything to read into there. The patch had issues and is being delayed, it's still on the test server to play if you want to play it now in a buggier state. Been very open and active so far with the development side of things.

I'm commenting more on the way people are reacting to this news more and more. I don't really care since I've dealt with the updating schedules for other EA games just fine.

1080gtx, 4670k OC to 4.4, and 16gb ram. I was getting around 25-30fps at that resolution with ultra details. I usually play at 1440p though and get 60-120 fps. There's drops below 60 at times though.
Performance is all over the place. I hover around 60 but then it will just drop into the 40's for no reason and then back up. Is the next patch addressing some of the performance issues or were they saying that about the next patch?

Seriously. What's the point of a test server if you are only testing one day before the patch is supposed to go live? It should have gone up at least a week in advance.

Likewise - my game is like 50% 60-70fps and 50% 20-30fps. Would be nice to get some stability.

Lol, they rolled back the loot pickup mechanic, so no wonder I didn't notice any difference when I played on the test server earlier today.

Really hope they do some serious optimization on this game and don't just use their success so far as an excuse to rest on their laurels. No reason I should be getting sub-30fps with almost every setting turned to the lowest. CPU usage is way too high.

They've made 2 optimization passes already and both seem significant.

I've heard nothing but good things about this latest client update as far as performance goes. What are your system stats? When are you seeing sub 30?

From here: http://battlegrounds.gamepedia.com/System_Requirements

It says "Very low settings are more CPU-intensive, while higher settings are more GPU-intensive".

So try upping view distance/textures and aliasing and see from there how it goes. View distance helped me, it didnt lag/hitch that much when i was in the plane/and out jumping.

Specs? Resolution?

I built a $450 PC (g4560/1050ti) that plays this between 50-65fps for the majority of a match (not lobby, 25-29 in lobby, but its a clusterF in there), at 1080p.

Overall, Im really happy with how it runs. There does seem to be more issues with performance reported on high end machines running high end resolutions though.

Edit - to go along with the poster right above me, I have my draw distance on ultra, everything else on medium except shadows (low) and foliage (low)...AA between low and mid doesn't change much. Post processing I play with but going from high to low I can't see a change, so I go with low or mid.

... It's not permanent. They'll re-implement it eventually.

And it doesn't matter, because its only going to level the playing field. I know losing an advantage hurts, but I don't see the need for people to complain about not being able to pick up stuff faster than other people.

We'll see. I'd be okay with one 'crouch down, stand up' cycle per Tab-screen invoke (when drag-looting).

The current 'crouch down, stand up, crouch down, stand up, crouch down, stand up, crouch down, stand up' looks ridiculous, and feels awful.

Edit: Here's hoping they listen to the community on this one. The replies to that tweet are in line with my opinion as well, although there may be a fair bit of selection bias inherent.
