PlayStation’s policy of not releasing its first-party games on PlayStation Plus on the day of the release will continue, according to a company exec

Subscription services devalue so much art that people make that gets sold in commerce. Its disgusting what streaming/subscripation models have done to art. So I'm glad they don't. Its the same reason why people buy Criterion Collection Movies for $29.99 and $39.99. It's not because they overpriced its the value. I will say not every game needs to be priced super high either it depends. You know everyone hated Nintendo for making their games $80 dollars, but I would rather they raise prices then force everyone to subscribe and we all end up devaluing the current artist work ourselves due to being subscribed. Moral of the story. Buy your damn video games.

Sony feeds ps plus service in weird ways they don't give a fuck it's designed to be a subscription for multiplayer and rest is getting free games, passes etc

It's not a first party title.
It is.

Promising all first party games on game pass day one was what really turned it into a disaster for their game sales. The whole dynamic changes. If you see a brand new game, and you want it on a subscription, you should be wondering when or if that's going to happen, and have the option to buy the game anytime as the price falls while you're waiting.

Every first party game? Every first party game that will ever be announced? Good luck walking that back. At least they've stuck to that promise, so far. It cost them dearly.

Expedition 33 flew under the radar for most people and even those who had been following it didn't think it was going to be as big as it became. Cherry picking one example hardly proves your case. Hi-Fi Rush was also a Game Pass standout that came out of nowhere and how'd that work out for Tango?
You do remember Hi Fi Rush releasing on PlayStation and then Tango getting shutdown, right?

You don't release summer blockbusters that cost hundreds of millions straight to DVD at your local gas station.
It's common sense, obviously it's a benefit to the customer but it's not how you keep making those titles.
Not that they're making them anyway...

Do you plan on making more? Will you let me know if they plan to drop the price of new first-party AAA games back to $39.99 like on the PS1?
Yeah, thanks for the unsolicited advice (not). I'll just keep posting whatever I think is interesting or worth sharing here on GAF.

Some rando's opinion on what qualifies as thread worthy doesn't really matter to me so you do you.

Oh and if you have issues with my threads then this gif is for you:

why would they? exclusives sell a shit ton of copies , they are a company , a company has to make profit not babysitting a bunch of wannabies entitled crybabies that think they are entitled to have everything for free these days.

The put horizon forbidden west on ps plus i think a year maybe after it came out? Can't remember the exact timing.

But the estimated they lost something like $80 million from doing that. Yeah day and date isn't happning unless something drastic changes in the industry.

After someone pointed it out, I've begun to notice that Concord really is being used as deflection/undermining by some individuals lol.

BRO!!!!!!!! 100% being used as a scapegoat and deflection. Concord isn't Sony's playbook. It was never their version of Halo that they bet the whole farm on. Those people would be better off using the Bungie purchase as a bigger example of Playstation stupidity than Concord.

I see Concord as a failure, yes, but one that Sony took steps to remedy very quickly. Removing the game for sale and refunding everyone was the right move, for sure. Basically, they acknowledged their mistake and remedied it so I see no need to keep dragging it up.

Agreed about Bungie - that's not looking so hot atm. I wonder if they make a lot with Destiny still.

Destiny has to be bringing in 10s of millions of dollars per year. Nothing else makes sense, otherwise I feel like Sony would have sold it off or cut them by now.

Totally agree. Good leadership knows when to act quickly. Sony saw a total failure with Concord, and acted swiftly to counter its growing negativity.

I especially appreciated it because, at the time, there was a precedent of blaming customers for a game's failure. Sony could have gone that route (and certainly some of the people who worked on Concord did plus the media), but instead chose to listen to feed back and wrap things up fairly and quickly.

Who cares. After Dragon's Dogma 2 I haven't bought a full-price new game, first party or not, on launch since. The more expensive these games get the less likely I am to buy them at all. I'll watch reviews after the embargo lifts and then just kind of lose interest and it's saving me hundreds of dollars.
