Playstation 5 |LAUNCH OT| No limits

No, but launch day seems like a strange description when nobody can get the thing. It's fairly obnoxious

Aint that the damn truth! Walmart fkd me over at noon after having it in my cart and about to go to the payment screen. Bestbuy did the same thing to me twice earlier. Im fairly certain all the other Walmart times today will be a dumpster fire as well.

This shit is crazy. It's nigh on impossible to get one. All the sites are crashing, they're even putting people in a 'DIGITAL' queue.

Insane how inadequate online retail distribution has proven to be.

Anyone know if the Razer Man o War works on the PlayStation 5? I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

Fully in love with PS5 right now playing Demon’s and even checking out Astro Bot when I was waiting for that to update, dudes, that game is really awesome. A wonderful free pack in title!

So far setting up as has been super easy and once I logged in I went to game library and all my PS4 games were there ready for download!

Folks may want to consider not plugging in the PS5 right away after taking delivery, especially in colder climates. Plugging it in(while remote the possibility still exists) with
a big temp change could screw up something. I'm personally waiting to set mine up after having it a few hours so it acclimates to room temperature.

Well, PS5 will likely be around for a good 6 or 7 years.

Won’t be the end the world if I have to wait until perhaps January to get one.

Thats when I got my PS4.

PS1, 2 and 3 were launch day gets however.

It's not a PS5 problem. It's a distribution problem. The fabled 'online distro' model doesn't hold up to scrutiny when it's put under pressure.

I know its been said a 1000 times already but ..... this console is huge!
They both are in their own way. The PS5 takes up the entire shelf on my entertainment setup where the PS4 had room for a speaker next to it, but the Xbox Series X I had to sit horizontally in the space where I had my Xbox One X and it still barely fits underneath the front panel.

last guardian had 30fps patch?

How about updated vs ps5 versions?
If I own a game on disc or psn... and if there is a ps5 patch then it's free right?
No PS5 patch, but I guess maybe they patched it to 30 at some point after launch. So, if you use the disc version and don’t update it you‘ll get a locked 60fps. Digital Foundry and other have tested it. Digital games are always the latest version, so it only works with disc. Same thing applies to Assassin’s Creed: Unity; disc version is 60fps without a patch that locks it.

Yeah, PSN seems to be having issues right now.

The major players (MSFT, Sony, retailers) all had infrastructure problems during this release window. It's incredible.

I don't recommend putting the Series X horizontally into your entertainment stand, I did that with my Series X and it was extremely hot and loud by the end of the day. But when I switched it to the horizontal position and placed it outside of my entertainment stand. It ran a lot cooler and was silent.

I would recommend having both consoles stand up vertically because that position is best for air flow, especially for the Series X.

Which is strange, because when there's a new release of a game on a platform with 100M+ users, everyone can download mostly fine.

But a few hundred thousand new PS5 owners connecting to PSN and downloading at the same time crashes it? I just don't quite understand.

I have mine but can’t test right now. Any FFXIV gameplay? I’m curious if it locks it to a solid 60fps and if the load times are better.

Appreciate the tip but the back of my entertainment setup is open, it's just the front it doesn't fit properly. I used the Series X all day and it wasn't particularly warm at all nor did it get loud.

This is just some guy on Twitter...any other reports of this?
I'm dubious, I've already put my PS5 in Rest mode multiple times without issue. At the very least I'd need confirmation on what the cause of the bricking is, as opposed to just being coincidental that some PS5s are going to be bad, it's just an unfortunate fact of life.

Anyone having HDR issues with their PS5? Seems to only work in 1080p and tells me my device does not support 4k HDR (Its a Sony X950G). Not sure if there is some setting I am just missing or if its an OS bug.... or if I am just doing something wrong ;)

Do you have it hooked up through an AVR? Maybe try changing the ends of the HDMI from the console to the TV, it might be a HDCP handshake quirk, the PS4 Pro had it but Sony didn't acknowledge it.

Did you have anything else 4k connected to the SAME HDMI port? There might be a setting to enable 4K mode somewhere squirreled away in options on your TV, Sony is really good a burying options in their TV's.

My Walmart (US) order that I got 2 delayed emails about today was sitting at my doorstep as of an hour ago. They sent a shipping notice via email when it arrived at my door.

What's the first games everybodies downloading? Mine are Fortnite, then Genshin Impact, and then later I'll grab Bugsnax.

Immediately I'm impressed (without ever having played anything) because despite rumors PLEX and Hulu are both available. HBO Max is not as far as I can tell. Other than that the selection is very limited but covers everything I care about. Downloads are pretty good speed as well at least for Fortnite. The typing with the controller is nice and smooth now as well. So far so good.

Really hope I don't run into any of these issues I'm seeing people are having. Yikes.
