Playstation 5 |LAUNCH OT| No limits

I've had my PS5 on all day playing Demon's Souls and Bugsnax and trying out some PS4 games, and the thing is so cool I'd swear it wasn't even powered on. Both the PS5 and Series X seem to have done a good job on the cooling this time around.

Got my PS5 and got it all set up and was able to play Miles Morales for an hour or so before I had to stop for my classes... that first moment starting the game is really cool. Miles is on the train and the controller rumble makes it feel like you are on the train. That feels next gen!

The console was noisy when installing the disc, quiet the rest of the time. It's weird that you have to put the disc in the opposite way of what you would think. I would expect the data side to be towards the center of the console, but no.

So impressed by the PS5 UI. It takes what worked with the PS4 and updated them with a snappy new look and better organization.

PSA - Don't do a network speed test while transferring from PS4. Stopped it dead in its tracks.

Disc drive is a lot quieter when installing Spider-Man. Maybe just something with my Demons Souls disc that was louder during that install. Either way not a big deal.

Spiderman made my disc drive moan like my ps4 pro. I was so sad. But it quieted down after a few minutes. Trying demon souls now.

Anybody having issues getting 120hrz in video outputs? Mine stock at 4k60

Have an LG CX and using the hdmi 2.1 cable supplied with the console..

Thnx

No PS5 patch, but I guess maybe they patched it to 30 at some point after launch. So, if you use the disc version and don't update it you'll get a locked 60fps. Digital Foundry and other have tested it. Digital games are always the latest version, so it only works with disc. Same thing applies to Assassin's Creed: Unity; disc version is 60fps without a patch that locks it.

Was able to grab a PS5 up on Sony Direct today at 3PM EST. The key is to stay on the website and refresh every now and then so that you don't get logged out. Tomorrow, when they release more consoles for purchase, you will be able to skip the queue and purchase the console immediately. I had a buttery smooth experience after trying for more than 8 hours on several sites. I also read that if you do get onto the site late, you can bypass the queue by hitting the 'X' to cancel the load and avoid being entered into a queue. Not entirely sure if this works because I didn't enter into the queue, but it's worth a shot if you find out about the drop late. God speed, everyone.

Pretty lame of them to release another batch today at the EXACT time Walmart did theirs. By the time people were done getting fucked by walmart, the bots wouldve already taken the sony direct ones. This whole process is just completely infuriating.

I have a feeling they did that to distract the bots with Walmart. I could be wrong, but if bots were targeting Walmart, people who were waiting for more from Sony had a better chance. That is why they don't announce when they are going live. Either way, the whole situation sucks.

If by tons you mean a small handful of threads, where most people are talking about how much it sucks, but very few followups say it happened to them too.

Like I said earlier, there's always some that will brick. There's Series X brick reports too. It's just the incredibly sucky nature of new tech.
I don't think I've seen any defective digital ps5's yet. Issues seem to be with the blu-ray edition

I cant even see the option for 120hz? What settings are you checking?

I don't have a choice as per say in the video outputs info.. It just shows 4k 60hrz

I was under the impression the UI would be 120hrz since the specs and hardware I have are capable.

Si basically your saying the info showing resolution at 60 hrz is normal?

How about the HDR settings.. Full RGB or Limited?

Thnx

My wife called me at 2:30 pm to take my daughter her swim bag that she needed for swim practice. I had been waiting all day and I just knew as soon as I left the Fed-Ex guy would show up. I was 10 mins away when I saw him pull up on my security camera. Damnit!!! Luckily the guy called me because he needed a signature. I asked him if he'd leave it in the garage and he said no problem. I remote opened and he left it there for me. Epic save Fed-ex guy! I guess that was enough of a signature for him.
So I got the PS5 setup without incident. Plugged in my external drive and all my PS4 games showed up. Adapter triggers are the real deal. Haptics are cool but not as amazing as I saw on YouTube. Astrobot is cute. I have Demons Souls and Miles Ultimate downloading now!

Edit- now that's I've nearly got the Platinum on Astro's Playroom and played some Demon's Souls I have to revise my initial statement about the haptics. The haptics are also as impressive as the early impressions made it out to be. I hadn't seen (felt) some of the more impressive implementations yet.

Yeah I believe so. I also have a 120hz tv and I am getting 60hz.

Unless there's an option to enable 120hz through a games option the UI will be 4k 60hz.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Hey if you've got a CX just double check that you're plugging the PS5 directly into the TV rather than going through a Soundbar first. If you're going PS5 > HDMI > TV you will be good. If that still doesn't work it must be a specific setting on your TV that you haven't enabled.

Fucking WTF. I knew the prices were about to increase but THIS MUCH ?! WHAT?!!

The prices in Poland went from 250to 350 pln... That's from 65 to 90 usd. Fuck me, fuck this, we are too poor for this crap.

I am not going through a soundbar...never mentioned that..All my settings are fine. Like the other person replied it should show 60hrz. The 120hrz is probably activated only in games supporting it.

Just heaved mine out of its massive box and found that it fits nicely under my TV (the Series X is standing vertically next to the TV).

That thing is a heavy ass bitch though.

Yes. It's broken right now or something. Quite a few of us can't get it to work. Hopefully a ps5 update fixes it.

So as big as the PS5 is (and its a good size) it actually fits in my entertainment center well (horizontally). Now lets see if the thermals hold when some more taxing games come.

So I signed in via the PS App. My PS+ isn't showing active, and I can't download any of my games. The recent PS5 games I've bought also don't show up on the system. Can't restore licenses because it errors out.

So this is pissing me off. I can't use any of my PS+ games, the PS5 games I bought this week aren't showing up. I can't download any of my PS4 games because of the lock symbol. I've factory reset the system and re-setup up and I still can't get access to my content.

Edit: Fixed it.

I'm in love. So far I've only tried astro but it has all the charm of a Nintendo game. I can't wait to dig into sackboy. How are you guys liking it? I also picked up demon souls which I'm saving for last.

To anyone with a PS5 could you run a quick test for me.

The test is bluetooth.

Using your phone is the PS5 and/or Dualsense discoverable? I'm having issues with bluetooth interference at the moment and if they're running stealth like the PS4 that'd be helpful.

Many Thanks in advance.

Did anyone else's Miles Morales disc get recognized as a PS4 version at first? I had to eject it and put it back in to get it to install as a PS5 game.

Finally got mine. The controller is no joke. Anybody that isn't impressed by the haptics and the triggers is a scrooge.

Gonna dive into Demon's Souls here in a few.

I'm trying to get COD fully installed. I go into the manage game section and try to click on things like the campaign files and it just gives me an error. This is the digital version preload. Anyone else?

I cant tell if its fully installed.

Anyone have any issues where PS4 games just refuse to launch? Both Destiny 2 and Tsushima refused to boot at all, getting stuck on the screen that pops up after you hit play

edit: decided to reboot the console gonna see if that'll fix it

Just want to say I'm happy that the PS5 plays nice with my Sony receiver. The PS4 Pro never would handshake correctly with it, causing me to have to run the HDMI directly to the TV and the audio via optical. The PS5 works normally with it.
