Oh. Just so you are aware, this guy isn't really credible. He's like a Roberto Geronimo, Iron Man PS5 making guesses for klout. Some people are already clowning him in the feed.
Makes sense. Anyways, people on twitter have been saying Walmart is charging them for the ps5 now. I pre ordered as soon as they went up, on the 16th or whenever that was and I haven't been charged yet but my status still says arriving on the 12th. They might've ordered from Canada Walmart, I am in the usa

So we should find out what’s in PS+ for November next week.

Any guesses what the PS5 title might be if included?

I’m hoping for Destruction AllStars. Although I believe PS4 had started out with Indies.
I bet PS5 gets all the announced PS4 games in the PS Plus Collection as their PS+ games. I assume for a while it will only get PS4 games only.

im assuming the series x press units are pretty close to the final version, but yeah retail units are really slick.

They worded it out as if not retail, but they are actually retail units. Because of the bad performance (stutter/frame drops, screen tearing, severe pop-ins/outs, crashing) they did that damage control as they are not final retail units.

They could be from an early test batch of retail units. But any issues with games wouldn't really be due to the hardware. It would be the dev kits fault or the developers in my opinion.

Nope. That’s not how it works. Just because they are receiving PS5’s doesn’t mean they are going to sell them immediately. I feel dump for even having to explain this.

Maybe some people will get them a day or two early in the mail. But other then that nobody should expect anyone* to have it before then.

* Except the ones that get it from Sony.

Pretty much. Or a small shop in a country famous for having no control regarding breaking street date sell it early for 3x the price. But Wallmart? That’s just dump and you have to be even dumber to tweet it out.

It's not dumb, it assures that shipment delivery is available on time. Have we seen XSX|S coming to warehouses yet? It should launch first, right?

I don't doubt that there are warehouses with PS5s in them but Wallmart won't risk getting in Sonys bad side by releasing them early. If someone breaks into one and steals them that's something else.

It is dumb to suggest that Walmart will sell them early. I’m not talking about receiving shipment for a product about to release worldwide. That’s logic not news. On time is not selling early. Selling early is breaking street date.

Yup, it's crazy to suggest big shops would do it. Some smaller ones might leak them though, but most likely few days earlier as sure Sony won't give them the consoles this early.

Rest assured that some Wal-Mart stores or Mom and Pop retailers will probably break the street date, the former due to lack of attention and the other because they figure they won't get caught. That's pretty much a given.

But the penalty can be severe, upwards of thousands per console sold. But yeah, you'll see people get their hands on them via unscrupulous means. I find it hard to believe Walmart would have them in stores now, though.

Typically they won't arrive in stores until about a week before launch to minimize risks of the street date being broken. At least that's how it was with GameStop when I was there. Big box may be different.

I'm used to people having early game disc like 1-3 weeks before official release. Last time PS4 released on time, none leaked but many resold US versions here at higher prices at 450 OMR ($1170 USD) as it came about 1 month earlier in the US.

Yeah, systems are very difficult to break an SD on, because they are larger items and more limited in quantity. We counted them twice daily at GameStop leading up to PS4/Xbone launch.

I want to say it is at least a $10,000 fine per console sold early if it happens.

Disc based games happen very often, particularly with major releases.

Would you expect spoiled rich ones pay that much just to get ahead? Or pretty famous social media person that would go the extra mile and pay $10,000+ to show it off?

Here's IGN unboxing:

I don’t think “mom and pop” shops got any PS5s to sell.

Pretty sure Sony only made deals with bulk retailers for launch.

Where is the best spot to know about the next round of preorders? Is there a site thst tracks this stuff or something?

I use stock trackers. I see them go up but never get there in time so the few that are getting put up POS scalper bots are getting them instantly. This will be going on until they are freely on store shelves.

There are no set dates for another big round but I expect it to happen before Xmas.

I think it's kind of dumb that they have an NDA set for the unboxing.

It's only organizing shit, flooding the net with certain topic each day! They are a tool of their marketing campaign now, and they benefit from the clicks as well.

Remember how the influencers flooded the media with their impressions of the XSX at around the same time? That's because Microsoft told them when they could upload it. They also uploaded the heat analysis as well to combat some negative impressions that were going around.

Basically when these people sign a deal with these companies the information that's released is controlled.

I can almost guarantee you that Sony won't tell these people to take apart the DualSense. Which is what Linus did since he didn't get the controller from Sony. It's all about controlling the information to drive hype.

You mean Austin not Linus. Yes, and they'll obey to keep a good relationship with that company (Sony/MS). Alanah fucked it up with her stream, can see MS execs enraged with that constant crashing clip circulating around, and the toasty XSX stream.

So what's Sony hiding with the NDA?

:messenger_winking_tongue:

All I can think of is that they want everyone to upload the unboxing at the same time.

There are 2 sides to every contract. Sony is providing the hardware and has given timescales and content that can be discussed.

From the publisher perspective they’ll agree to these conditions on the basis it’s fair for them too.

The reason for the dates is to ensure that all outlets have the equipment and can prepare to release content at the same time.

Wouldn't be fair otherwise would it? If one place happens to get a delivery earlier than another and steals a lot of clicks because they can put the content up faster ....

So Sony has to coordinate those times to give the outlets a fair chance of putting out content to their audience. 2 sides to the contract ....

MS did the same - all gaming companies do the same.

Not even Apple have that type of NDA. But they signed the NDA’s so they have to play by the ridiculous over the top rules.

Apple release several products every year...

A PlayStation comes once every 7 years +.

It’s a major event not just in the gaming community but globally to the wider community.

A new PlayStation is in magazines, news articles, podcasts and social media far beyond the lesser known gaming hardware.

Sony are well within their right to ensure all outlets get fair access to the content and release information to an agreed schedule.

There’s nothing over the top about it - it’s commonplace for any desirable item.

The industry in general is so secretive with ridiculous rules so it’s not a Sony issue only. If they want “fair access” as you say then it is not fair that some outlets can show the box and others can’t because they didn’t receive it yet going by your logic. Put an NDA over the whole thing until everyone receive theirs and they can show more than the damn box.

Embargos aren't only for games. They are in every market, and exist for a simple reason: the company gives them content for free to create their own content (reviews, news, videos, articles, etc) but ask them to don't publish them before certain a day and hour.

And this is to make sure they have enough time to check out that product properly and have enough time to make these videos/reviews/etc with enough time, knowing everyone will publish it at the same time, so they don't have to rush to make a bad quality video/review/etc quickly to be the first and try to get extra clicks. So the journalists/influencers get benefited from it (plus they got the console/game/etc for free), plus the customers get a better quality content, and the company also gets benefited because they can schedule and track better their marketing & PR campaigns.

Sony feels the burden of launch more than most because they are the market leader and their product goes well outside the gaming community.

Like I said - a new PlayStation is a significant milestone. Sony don’t want to squander the spotlight they have now and COVID is already making things more difficult.

As for the box - what makes you think Sony didn’t do exactly what you said and ask recipients to hold back everything until deliveries were confirmed?

I wonder if any of the NDAs stop any of the people that have now received units from popping in various M2 drives and seeing if any play nicely out of the box. Obviously they can't post videos of such things yet, but at some point when they can talk about the OS and stuff it would be cool. In the absence of an official list from Sony, I'd imagine this kind of video would be very popular with us lot.

I got few questions for PS5:

Backwards Compatibility:
1) Are PS4/PS4Pro games enhanced in any way shape or form without patches? Enhanced includes but not limited to:
1a. Checkboard 4k to True 4k
1b. HDR Implementation
1c. Raytracing Implementation
1d. 30fps to 60fps
1e. Variable Refresh Rate implementation with AMDfreesync (due to HDMI 2.1 out with HDMI 2.1 compatible 4K UHD TV's with AMD Freesync/Variable Refresh Rate)

2) Is PS4 Dualshock controller compatible with PS5?
3) Can you use PS5 Controller Haptic feedback to play PS4/PS4Pro games?
4) Are PS4/PS4Pro games loading times decreased due to PS5 custom SSD drive, and faster 4k ultra-blu ray disk player?

Additional SSD Drive for game data Storage
Is there any PS5 compatible SSD drive which is 2TB+ which is the same or faster speed of its internal SSD drive which
includes:

-I/O Bottle Neck Removal
-Cache Scrubbers and coherency processors, and other customizations similar to the internal SSD Drive
