Same, maybe we should form a group of us lucky 20 like the Miami Dolphins perfect season team did and celebrate every year.Congrats to Guerilla. I account for roughly 5% of those sales. You're welcome.
That's the thing...the game SOLD 20M but has already been on PSNow, PSPlus (i think?) it was given for free on their Play at Home initiative, etc...I got it for $15 on PSN. But a sale's a sale. That's a huge success for the IP. And probably another few million from PS Collection giveaways on PS5 for people that didn't already own it. Safe to say 25 million people probably have played this. Absolutely massive.
But some people told me Sony games didn't sell more than 10 million and that people wouldn't buy games anymore because subscriptions…
Congrats to Guerila, well deserved.
Next they will downplay the 20mil figureBut some people told me Sony games didn't sell more than 10 million and that people wouldn't buy games anymore because subscriptions…
Congrats to Guerila, well deserved.
Really massive. I guess some people were wrong once again. People see value and people spend money. It's massive for a new IP. And they aren't counting players like YouTube views either, this isn't a F2P game.
It'll be huge. PS5 supply constrained, and the game is likely not going to get the kind of sales and discounts we used to see on PS4, and it's $70 on PS5 (if you aren't paying attention). If it hits 20 million this time it'll be more impressive than 20 million on the first one. But I wouldn't be surprised. The sequel is mostly hyped, and the original title received a bit more mixed reviews initially. That's the thing...the game SOLD 20M but has already been on PSNow, PSPlus (i think?) it was given for free on their Play at Home initiative, etc...
The game was actually played by a lot more than 20M people i imagine.
If Forbidden West reviews well it could do even better than 20M for sure.
Nintendo regularly sells 20+ million, but at basically full price. It's a different beast. This is good to show to those that say Sony first party isn't in the same league that Nintendo's that they're also wrong.
Keep downplaying.Nintendo regularly sells 20+ million, but at basically full price. It's a different beast.
Exactly. What we're seeing now is year 2 of Sony trying to be Nintendo and not discount their games. Going forward sales will be somewhat comparable to Nintendo I think, since they're really barely cutting price on things now.Nintendo regularly sells 20+ million, but at basically full price. You're the one who brought up Nintendo. You can see my post regarding the topic further up the page.Keep downplaying.
It'll easily surpass 20M sales, specially since it has an immensely huge userbase and it'll release on pc at some point. That's the thing...the game SOLD 20M but has already been on PSNow, PSPlus (i think?) it was given for free on their Play at Home initiative, etc...

That's true. Forgot to factor in PC sales. It'll easily surpass 20M sales, specially since it has an immensely huge userbase and it'll release on pc at some point.
Its also on PS4- and you can upgrade that version for free. And early gen games have much better attach rates (eg Miles Morales). It will do just fineIt'll be huge. The original is 89 on Metacritic. Nothing mixed about that. It'll be huge. Not critically, but most of the narrative at the time was comparing it unfavorably to BotW. I'm just saying the narrative on the sequel will likely be even better than the 1st one.The original is 89 on Metacritic. Nothing mixed about that.
Those were on bubbles, most people played both and were happy about that. Not critically, but most of the narrative at the time was comparing it unfavorably to BotW. I'm just saying the narrative on the sequel will likely be even better than the 1st one.

I'm sure someone's going to get mad soon. Keep trying, and I'm sure you'll reel in someone one of these days.Who knew that this whole game development thing didn't have to become a race to the bottom. Wild times.
I think it's less about Nintendo's games and more about those fans spending habits and perception of value.Nintendo regularly sells 20+ million, but at basically full price. It's a different beast.
