PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Stealing top post:

I hope it's just because Crimsonland is a bit "steeply priced" in EU that there isn't much talk about it.

I know US vitagaf is just anime/rpgaf :P

The top-down view with 90s PC-game artstyle does scream cheap at first. But this arcade gem has been refined over like a decade. It's an arena shooter with lots of levels, difficulties, modes and hi-scores.
Ultra sensitive to the right-stick input.

Runs very well, some slight slowdown when it gets crazy hectic but 99% of the time it's awesome. Even though the artstyle is old, there are some decent effects - it has footsteps! But also awesome blood splatter and lots of weapon effects.

It gets really cramped with all the enemies. Got to make it over to the next power-up.

A great arcade shooter, hours of fun. And then some more in the survival modes. Perfect for the Vita.

Oh look, you just made me purchase the game!

Well, I've finished Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier. Game is fairly short (I got it last year in a sale for 3.5€, no problem) even when I did most of the sidequests and all that.

They say I've unlocked some kind of New Game + but I don't like the game all that much. I'm sure there is some stuff I'm missing but not much. If there were trophies I may replay the game, but I think I'm done with it.

Tomorrow I'll get Breath of Fire III while it's on sale (Europe) and start playing it. Fucking shop4es decided to keep my package until release date (today). They sent me an email this morning saying the game will arrive in 3-7 workable days.

I would say yes, it is. It's a fun Brawler and the Art is amazing. I still have to finish it :(

I also decided to pass on Tinker, i will keep my Money for something else.

I....uh....just....sigh. The "art" in that game actually offends me. It offends me as a human being. The only thing more offensive than that "art" are the people that say it's good. It's offensive to me and it's offensive the human race. You're offensive to the human race for liking it. Dragons Crown makes the world a worse place to live in. Even by Japanese standards the character designs are attrocious. Even if the actual game was good(which I don't think it is but then it's not really my sort of game anyway) the character designs alone make it a game I would actively tell people to stay away from. Dragons Crown is a game I would actually forbid people from playing if I had the power. Or at least force people to play it blindfolded. The "art" is that bad.

This was mostly a serious post. God I hate the character designs in that game. I despised this game before I even got to the gameplay.

It really was a serious post? What's next, burning books and paintings that might offend your beliefs? Just move on. Fuck sake, it's not ramming endless Dragon's Crown sequels and spin-offs in your face.. so what if it has a distinct view of the female anatomy? Is that all you got?

Edit:
Meanwhile you're all hyped up about Hotline Miami 2 which embellishes in gore, murder and all-out violence. So what if mermaids have sexy butts?
Or Twisted Metal on PS3, which you seemed to have loved.. again, double standards?

Edit 2: Are you the type that hangs out in Gamestop just to tell parents what not to buy their children?

That's...quite the overreaction. After five minutes you don't even notice it anymore.

Eh Opinions and stuff.
Also sorry Guys, i didn't want the Conversation to go into this direction :(

Why the sad face? Is it that dreadful to beat?

Nah, it's fun to play and all but i don't even want to think about how many hours i'll put into it. Way too many Games and not enough time :/

So there is currently a Rockstar Sale in the EU PSN. I am planing to buy China Town Wars and either Liberty City Stories or Vice City Stories - Which one should I get? I tend more to Vice City, because I am a big fan of 80s Music, but what would you guys recommend me?

Vice City Stories was great at the time, but also due to it being so impressive technically for PSP. You will definitely love the soundtrack.

Chinatown Wars might be the most fun to play though..

I have Liberty City Stories and was wondering if i can use the second Analog Stick for it? Is that even possible with PSP Games on Vita?

Hey, my Elf is awesome and her boobs don't touch the floor when she is standing.

The character designs in general are like a caricature. Everything is exagerated, not just man. I understand that some people may not like it but I wouldn't go as far as to say it should be forbiden.

All things considered I think Vanillaware artist is quite good too. Dragon's Crown has some really good stuff if you overlook the exagerated proportions and I love Muramasa's art.

I'm not a fan of the art style in Dragons Crown but this post offends me way more than an art style would. Who would have thought that art is subjective?

I have Liberty City Stories and was wondering if i can use the second Analog Stick for it? Is that even possible with PSP Games on Vita?
It is possible to map the d-pad, analog, face buttons, Start/Select or shoulder buttons to the right analog stick by holding the PS button down, then going into Settings, then Right Stick.
But in the GTA Stories games you won't have much use for it, since you control the camera using L + Analog. If you don't feel like using L + Right analog that is. It's really annoying!

So I guess you've never killed a single other human character in a video game? Never played Uncharted or anything like that? Because otherwise you would be saying that murder is ok in the context of video games but sexism isn't. I am oversimplifying because you oversimplified, but that is basically what you're saying.

Someone over on the ps blog asked for suikoden 2 on psn; in the flash sale comment section.
Grace Chen responded with

Believe #Suikoden2onPSStore

It's happening?!

Damn I feel like my way of thinking just degraded a bit after reading that post, Jesus Christ. I'm an open minded individual, and stuff like this just really makes you seem like a very narrow minded person, like the ones that I avoid whenever I go downtown, talking about Armageddon and how we are all sinners. So one can't enjoy a game just because you don't like it? Wow, just wow man...

I have Liberty City Stories and was wondering if i can use the second Analog Stick for it? Is that even possible with PSP Games on Vita?

Pretty sure that you can indeed map the second analog stick for PSP games, that's what got people to give Peace Walker another chance on Vita.

OK, then I will buy it tomorrow :D

To bad that Chinatown Wars is the non-Touchscreen version, always thought the features in the DS Version were kinda cool.

but that's only because peace walker already used the face buttons to control the camera. i don't think LCS did that or anything close that you could change to get dual analog

I would be selfish too if I was thrown to a world where I barely know anybody. He's VA's definitely annoying though.

Ok, I've just gotten Breath of Fire 3. Downloading it on my Vita so hopefully tomorrow in the morning I can play it.

Now deleting my credit card so some asshole doesn't hack my account and buys FIFA points or whatever.

but that's only because peace walker already used the face buttons to control the camera. i don't think LCS did that or anything close that you could change to get dual analog

You can map to the second analog stick the face buttons (used it for Super Startdust Portable), the D-Pad (God Eater 2, Monster Hunter...) or L / R (Tomb Raider: Anniversary, J&D: The Lost Frontier use this option).

If LCS uses some weird trick instead of one of those 3 configurations you're fucked.

Don't be THAT guy, I Wanna Be The Guy :(

I feel that all art has its place, forbidding someone's choices for art design, especially something that people like, closes the mind to things. But you are entitled to feel that way, of course. Just a lot of us will definitely disagree.

When I first played it I was starving for more Jak and I blindly loved it. Went for the 101% and replayed it like 5 times. But when I replayed the original trilogy last year I noticed that the gap between the trilogy and that spin off. Still a good game though, imo

btw I saw Rockstar sale and closed the blog page, then someone made me realize that Rockstar made Max Payne 3 and that it's now 5€. I never played any game in the series, but I heard it's a frenetic TPS...which is my cup of tea. Should I, gaf?

Trailer

Behind You is a recent PlayStation Mobile release from Pon Pon Games, the developers behind PSM's Galatea and a catgirl runner with a severely long title. I like to call their latest creation a sneak'em up. You play as a girl looking for her kidnapped family members. Your objective is to sneak through top-down multi-room levels without getting detected by guards or security cameras. Doing this requires you to stay in the shadows to hack and fight your way to the end.

TdvoUVW.jpg
mtG3afy.jpg

You can take down the guards with your hands or a gun (displayed in first-person). The enemies don't die. They just faint. To not raise the suspicions of other nearby guards, you can place the unconscious bodies on chairs. The NPCs will walk by them, say something like, "Resting on the job? I wish I could do that" and not detect a thing. There's also distractions like a meowing cat recording, though I haven't figured out how to use that yet.

PxDR5e1.jpg
d2FzCuH.jpg

My major gripe with the game is that enemies and cameras reset once you exit a room. There seems to be a lot of backtracking as you get keys to previously locked doors, which means you have to scurry by all the cameras and guards once again. I also have a concern about the length. I suck at this game, but I noticed the main menu only lists four "Acts". Each "Act" shouldn't take more than 10-20 minutes.

With that said, the game is only $3.49. It has a very nice low-poly look to it and I'm enjoying the experience. There isn't much of a story, so it might be a good stealth game for someone not looking to scroll through loads of text.

More like the Freedom Wars DLC got me, but I have to take my hat off to baekshi for his hard work trying to get people to buy the game.

I'm still on the fence with Freedom Wars since what people said in the OT. I just hope the 8 vs 8 PVP comes before the US release. Also people the demo the whip was soooo good to use.

Honestly, the obvious waifu pandering in Sword Art Online is something I think is outright offensive and a blight on the game(Gameplay is good enough to ignore it, though and I'm not really interested in having a huge debate on it).

But here, we're talking about Dragon's Crown. Yes the Amazon and Sorceress have absolutely ridiculous, annoying proportions. Yes, the NPCs look equally ridiculous. However, in this case, it's such a small portion of what you see in the game(Unless you choose to play as the sorceress or Amazon) that I frankly do not care. It really isn't relevant in this case.

I'm most likely going to wait for the expanded version.

BWAHAHAHA.

Thanks for the laughs man.

You can look for double standards on oxford and this post will show up.

Oh well... some people just get offended by different things, so I'll sugest to simply ignore this. The games isn't any less great because one person don't like it.

I'm all for what you are doing with disparaging the argument, but why is Uncharted called out? Is it that shooting people in Uncharted is worse than in other games? Sorry saw some other posts on this site that harp on Uncharted and its violence and I can't place why it's worse in that game. *shrugs*

co-op and pvp mode both will be already patched in US release.

there's nothing really wrong with the gameplay but scea gonna be scea and aren't releasing demo, different versions. and keeping online pass.

Probably the first game that came to his mind (being a PS game and all).

I thought this post was quite funny, in a good way. Thanks for that.

Dragon's Crown is actually one of the tamest games you can find on Vita compared to some of the other crap that comes out of Japan.

Do you also hate Muramasa by any chance? I get the impression ever since that article that some people will somehow demonize everything Vanilaware has ever made and will ever make.Reactions hilariously disproportional to the size of Vanilaware, especially compared to the japanese market as a whole.Even by japanese standards my ass,the erotic publications their allow for some phone dating-games that are relatively "safe" with characters with "proportions" alright . You should check out Senran Kagura for fun's sake.

Also can't wait what the secret thing is once you beat all four dlc in muramasa. It would be alright if it was a teaser pic for their next game.

Get it. There were a lot of people who complained, but there were also a lot of people defending it, specially after the first few patches.

Nobody gives me any credit anymore. :(

Your OT for the game is terrific, kudos to you.

Yea, literally just the first that came to mind. Nothing against uncharted in particular. Or Dragon's Crown's art for that matter.

Yil2dAM.jpg

A great arcade shooter, hours of fun. And then some more in the survival modes. Perfect for the Vita.

Huh I might go for this after I am done with xillia and counterspy.

Rereading what I wrote, I think it reads kind of defensive, but I didn't mean it that way. Anyway, I would really love if they moved Dragons Crown to PS4 as well. So good...

Edit: top of page again. Hmm, get Sword Art Online and Disgaea 4 A Promise Revisited

Any chance Danganronpa is going to get a decent sale before the sequel?

I certainly hope so.
