Playstation Portal Cloud Streaming for PS+

I will probably make a separate topic about it but as someone stuck in a train station in 30 degree heat and 3 kids the steam deck playing games from the hardware itself has been a godsend, cloud will remain an edge case for years to come.

Its handling is way worse though.
Not really, depending on certain variables, streaming can give better experience than native steam deck. All about the ping, decode times, your distance away from the servers from whichever service.

For example, GFN can let you do 4k/120 where Steamdeck natively couldn't even go beyond 800p.

So did you own a PS4 before? You said you had Extra before buying the Portal.

Sony needs to allow Buy and Stream. xCloud already allows it on any device.

I'm curious, try playing FortNite for free on xbox.com/play on Edge or Chrome browsers on whichever device you may have. (No Gamepass subscription needed for streaming FortNite). Then enable the Stats Overlay in Settings, what Ping and Decode times, do you get?

Are you subscribed to Amazon Prime for any reason?
Yes, my main console was the PS4.
And yes, I have prime. Why?

Amazon Prime users have free access to stream on Luna, basically all Ubisoft games, and starting to get EA games, and Madden NFL 26, and EA FC 26 are exclusively on Luna streaming for launch. You buy the games on the Ubisoft or EA PC stores respectively.

So if you have a laptop, or android/iOS tablet, you can stream those games via the Prime subscription you already pay for.

Try the Nvidia GFN free tier as well. And since Sony is taking their long time to expand, xCloud also has Series (current gen) games to stream. Things you may not be able to stream with PS+ Premium.

Not in Europe, apparently. You need the Luna subscription for that.

I tried some different streaming services and could play Xbox on my TV, but I love the handheld format. As a parent, my larger devices are always occupied. So the portal gives me somehow a portable PS5.
It's not for everyone, but fits my situation quite right.

With the heat coming from the SteamDeck, I wouldn't advise on playing on the Steam Deck with how hot it is right now

No 5G reception?
My daughter has a cheap tablet and inherited my Switch, so she's occupied when we travel.

I didn't know EU prime doesn't give Luna.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is available on practically every device with a screen.

What the Cloud only gamers do is use something like GameSir G8+ or Razer Kishi Ultra along with a cheap Samsung Tab A9 tablet to turn the device into an android based Portal that can stream from every service, not just PS+ Premium only.

I would 100% prefer to game on my Bravia 9 setup with surround sound but I have 3 kids. Youngest being 2. 90% of all my game time with ps5 has been through streaming/ remote play either via the portal or through my phone/ backbone controller.

I've got a great home network and fast internet so it's really been a wonderful solution for me. I don't think I'd be playing hardly as much if it wasn't for those options.

Lol, try running any older game that uses mouse. Oh wait, you can't.
Name some games. Lenovo Legion Go has a trackpad btw. Did you know windows comes with a built in on-screen track pad? On the taskbar, similar to the onscreen keyboard. You can even turn the entire windows touchscreen into a track pad via Tablet Pro.

Lol you're right. You can use the screens touchpad as a mouse. Not sure what the guy is smoking. Still waiting on those games list.

Buying a steam deck this late in the stage, gross. You're better off buying a z1 extreme or msi claw 8 ai+.
No, gross to me was buying a portal with a limited library that also requires a pricey membership to use. Steamdeck has been probably the best gaming device I bought in a really long time.

Locally, which is how I mostly use my Portal, no subscription is required. I get that you "almost" bought a Portal but it seems you are just here to poop on it or promote Steam Deck. I have both and both have their uses.

Not pooping on anything, just that for me I didn't see portal as a value purchase as I'd need an expensive membership to get any value out of it. I'm glad people are enjoying the portal. 👍

Did you miss the purpose of the Portal? Did you even read what i wrote? Steam Deck was good when it was released, 3 years ago. Now, not so much. There are better handhelds out there.
