The Portal has an Airplane Mode . . .
I think you can direct connect to the PS5 with their Playstaiton Link protocol. That also connects tot he new headset and earbuds. I might be wrong. It doesn't have bluetooth at all. I was just using that as a comparison to how airplane mode possibly works. Dunno. What do you mean? That you're remote playing via BT? I don't think that would work.
I have a similar setup and I don't think I could play any games that require tight timing with remote play.Got my PS5 wired and my wifi at home has ~400+Mbps download with /65+Mbps upload.
I assume that should be more than enough for stable Remote Play.
Curious as to whether it will be enough to have decent connection for online multiplayer.
Not too worried, if I can play sp or more laid back multiplayer it's fine enough.
Portal is meant as a back-up for when I can't use my tv, it's not going to be my main method for gaming.
its essentially a wii u gamepad that runs exclusively on wi-fi but with a bisected dualsense controllerIts definitely a strange device.
Can you play this while travelling on plane for example?
Is the PlayStation Link protocol just Wi-Fi Direct pretty much? I wonder what the range and performance is for it.I think you can direct connect to the PS5 with their Playstaiton Link protocol. The more I read about this device, the more it perplexes me. What does airplane mode service on a tablet whose sole purpose is to stay connected to a PS5 to be operational.
I have a backbone and ipad with a dualsense, and both of those options suck compared to what this will do.I own a Backbone. Is there any advantages this has over that?
You need a strong WiFi, going by the reviews.
This is for people who live the PlayStation Lifestyle.I don't understand who the market for this is.
A Switch is the perfect remote console, you can play it anywhere, i.e. the whole point of a remote console.
For this product, you have to have another console (PS5), turned on and be on the same network as it................... wtf?
Who is buying this? Someone who wants to play while someone else watches TV?
6 hours, get the fuck outta here with that bs. I have NEVER gotten anywhere close to that and im sure you haven’t either.Well I said 6-6.5 hours which isn't 8. With the improved battery I'd imagine it will be at least 8 hours streaming.

Dads wanting some alone time.Who is buying this? Someone who wants to play while someone else watches TV?
And yet you did, enjoy your portal.Actually..... you know what..... no, I'm not going to answer this
The lag is there as mentioned in some reviews playing games like Call of Duty is very hardI can see the lag, so it's already too much.
But this place in Elden ring hovers around 50fps.
RDR2 fans will now be more fans of other games with them having near the same input lag of RDR2.120ms of added latency
You should if you're just streaming, I've seen people get around 6 hours streaming Moonlight, I can't see that being any different to streaming PS5 games.6 hours, get the fuck outta here with that bs. I have NEVER gotten anywhere close to that and im sure you haven’t either.
I don’t know about Moonlight but Chiaki blows ass for streaming. You should if you're just streaming, I've seen people get around 6 hours streaming Moonlight, I can't see that being any different to streaming PS5 games.
Haven't seen the reviews, but judging from your comments welp, there goes my self Christmas gift, I guess.
You can setup your Steam Deck or ASUS Ally to stream as well. They should provide around 6 hours of streaming. The new Steam OLED should get you 8+ hours.5 hours is fucking good. You can’t even get 2 hours from Steam Deck.
It's the most, "this is awesome at something, but I don't need it and can't convince myself to ever buy it" device I've ever seen.its essentially a wii u gamepad that runs exclusively on wi-fi but with a bisected dualsense controller
I never saw a need for it but from the last thread you’d think it’s like the second coming of jim ryan for some people.
Oh, I willAnd yet you did, enjoy your portal.
Gave me a hefty PS chortle.. Seems like an elaborate april fools joke. I suppose some "gaming dads" or whatever will find it useful but really seems like a irrelevant accessory. I had one of those mini keyboards that attached to the dualshock3. Thought it was going to change my gaming career! But I ended up never using it.The Portal has an Airplane Mode . . .
Can you turn on your PS5 with the Portal?I don't get the disconnect people are having going from praising the use of portables around the house when you want to spend more time with family, when the tv is in use, laying in bed, taking a shit, etc but suddenly people are derping out on what possible use the portal is.
It works well, fast, has the comfort and features of the dual sense, and offers up the other mentioned benefits. Sure, it's not for everyone, but it's use is pretty obvious.
Only from rest mode but if your PS5 is totally off the answer is noCan you turn on your PS5 with the Portal?
Does it also turn on your TV and switch to the correct HDMI channel? Because that would suck.Only from rest mode but if your PS5 is totally off the answer is no
If your ps5 is in rest mode u can remotely turn it on as long as you are on a wifi connection, in fact you can totally use this anywhere there is a strong wifi connection and play your ps5 games on the go with the dual sense features as long as the wifi works well. Can you turn on your PS5 with the Portal?
I don't understand why my Quest 3 can't just stream directly to my phone. Why do all these devices have to go through a Router? Is it part of the Wifi spec or something?
