PlayStation Showcase Officially Announced for Next Wednesday, May 24 at 1pm Pacific Time

I was thinking that since the PS5 is so big and ugly, that they'd at least want to spend a few minutes showing off the redesign.

Also with Stellar Blade/Spiderman coming out later this year (and probably at this showcase), that they'd have a bundle deal or something.
Don't think they need to announce the Slim here. They can do a seperate event or just a blog post in September for a holiday release.

This is a showcase of games, not iterated hardware.

So only 1h?? After two years with no show I expected a little more material from Sony, i mean they also have VR stuff in there..... yeah I'm keeping my expectations in check.
They had a lot of games in that 1 hour though. Sadly most were 2-3 minute cinematic trailers, but at least they were realtime and not CG.

  1. Ratchet
  2. Demon Souls
  3. Horizon
  4. Miles
  5. GT7
  6. Returnal
  7. Pragmata
  8. Forspoken
  9. Deathloop
Of all these games, only ratchet got a gameplay demo which I think will be saved for spiderman. Returnal, GT7, Forspoken and Deathloop had some gameplay snippets, but no 4-5 minutes demo.

  1. Spiderman 2 - demo
  2. Wolverine - realtime trailer
  3. TLOU Factions - realtime trailer with gameplay snippets
  4. SSM new IP teaser - realtime teaser
  5. TLOU3 teaser - realtime teaser
  6. MGS3 - trailer with gameplay snippets
  7. Silent Hill 2 - trailer with gameplay snippets
  8. Death Stranding 2 - trailer with gameplay snippets though kojima has been very quiet so maybe hes skipping e3.
  9. Rise Of Ronin - trailer with gameplay snippets just like last year.
IIRC, there were some developers who took up a lot of time selling various PS5 features. I dont see that happening this time which should allow for even more games. The E3 2015 show had three 5-10 gameplay demos of Horizon, The Last Guardian, Blops 3, and Uncharted 4. The rest were trailers. It was an hour and a half.

Safe bets imo are:
Spiderman 2
TLOU Online
FF7 Rebirth
Silent Hill 2 Remake
Stellar Blade
Death Stranding 2 (with a full version of the trailer at the summer game fest)

Other possible announcements from Playstation Studios:
Firesprite AAA horror narrative game
Santa Monica new IP directed by Cory Barlog
Horizon Online Project
Wolverine gameplay teaser

Depending on how far in development they are:
Bluepoint new IP
Bend Studio new IP
Ghost of Tsushima 2
Rumored new Uncharted
Team Asobi's new game

Possible big surprises:
Metal Gear Solid Remake
Rumored Final Fantasy 9 Remake

Jim Ryan dropping nukes:
New partnership with From Software
GTA6 first teaser/trailer

The Live Service era is upon us. We are about to bathe in the era of GAAS. We are not worthy yet PlayStation still views us with benevolence. Glory be to Jim!

(3 GAAS games showcased or we riot)

Tbh I am very interested to see some of these Gaas as we not seen fuck all since the song and dance about there being several in development. Being totally honest I didn't know what Gaas was as a genre until last year, I don't play them.

A Sony first-party live service game will be interesting to see if nothing else.

Also we don't know how much time they're allocating to the VR/indie games.

Exactly.. If you compare it to the PS4 gen they always had 2-3 shows during the year some of which lasted 1h30min. Just surprised it's 1h after being absent for so long. I'm 100% certain that they're keeping stuff for whatever reason. This is Sony we're talking about, they always have shit to show and alot of it.

1h only???? Jimbo, give me a break!

Silent Hill 2, FF7R2, the Bungie game, Elden Ring DLC, and the rumored Konami remakes have me moderately hyped for the first time in a while.

Forgot about Bungie's new i.p.

With COD shitting the bed/declining from its peak, and Battlefield's total self sabotage into irrelevance the past decade, I'd like to see Bungie do an AAA multiplayer FPS in the near future military setting to take on these two.

They have the gunplay in their games on lock to be a big player there.

And if Pragmata really is in dev hell, what are the chances of Capcom showing Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Don't expect anything about this until after FF16's release. FF16 OTOH would make some sense.

I could see GTA 6.

I think FFXVI has got a lot of spotlight and a fully dedicated SOP. They risk overexposure.
They will have a final marketing push with the demo and the launch trailer.
FF7 Rebirth should be out this winter and an update is needed, it's not like people won't buy FFXVI because of FFVII:R.

This sounds like it'll be pretty on the spot. I'm expecting the Last of Us 3 teaser to come right after factions. Something like slight music and "Let's finish this." Really short and simple with the logo.

I also just thought, if factions is going to have a character creator, I wonder if we are going to see real time mo-capped cutscenes with our own characters, similar to Red Dead 2. This could be really cool.

I expect to see Twisted Metal too. As well as a teaser for Ghost of Tsushima 2.

Why do people keep mentioning Cory Barlog's new project? I'm pretty sure that game didn't go into full production until after Ragnarok finished. It's much more likely Naughty Dog shows off their next single player game, which has been in assumedly in full production since TLOU2 wrapped in Spring 2020.

It's the time for dreams. Would probably be multi platform, but my dream is for a next gen Soul Reaver!

Oh man. That cover is absolute fire. Hits all the nostalgia notes while still looking modern and almost Souls-like.

Do it without Eidos Montreal and bring back Hennig, would so be down!

Would be lucky to see in-game footage, but I'm actually expecting to see just another teaser trailer at the showcase. We'll see.

I agree on GTA 6. I think most of these will just be announcement trailers if anything.

Im guessing third party is Konami + Square enix stuff and call of duty which is hillarious given what happened in the last month. Ms probably has the rest of the western 3rd party, so ass creed mirage and alan wake 2 and probably cyberpunk phantom liberty will be their event.
