Fiance surprised me last night for my b/day with a $250 gift card, to go towards the Vita! So, between that, and some extra work I've done for some friends of mine, work bonus, income tax, I'm rolling in extra dough for the launch.

Now I just need to narrow down my game selection. I figured there's no reason to go crazy and get a bunch of launch games, so I'm down to:

HSG for sure
Wipeout
MLB12 (March 6th)

I'm torn between Rayman and Fifa for my last purchase. Both look great.

I'm assuming that since you are getting Hot Shots and The Show when it comes out, that you are into sports games. I'd go with FIFA. It's the launch game I'm most excited for.

Gamestop has a trade in deal for an extra $25 in-store credit toward the Vita (I'm assuming the "extra" credit is added towards what you're already getting for it) when you trade in a previous handheld.

http://www.gamestop.com/collection/trade-in

Sorry if already posted

I asked if my PSP-1000 would be eligible for trade, since it was listed on the website and he said it wasn't worthwhile as the trade value for the 1000 is $8. (Gamestop Canada)

Any impressions on this

Vita Trigger Grips

I can't play my 3DS without a grip anymore. The Vita looks a lot more comfortable but if it's anything like the PSP my hands might fall asleep/feel cramped if after extended play while laying down.

Any recommended protective cases that you use while playing otherwise? I never was a fan of screen protectors or cases in the past, but my girlfriend's son has a habit of wanting to play my 3DS even though he has his own, and I know for sure he'll be dying to play my Vita. He's just a little kid though so I should take a few precautions :P
I think you'll need to try it yourself. I find both the 3DS and the PSP to be somewhat cramped and uncomfortable (especially when using the R and L buttons often). The Vita, however, is so much more comfortable and seems to conform around your hands. I can rest my fingers on the shoulder buttons with no discomfort and the analog sticks are in a very natural position. It's possibly the most comfortable portable device I've ever used. A HUGE step up from the PSP.

Well I guess there goes my deal. Seems like my phat is staying put. I think I have a couple of games in my backlog I can get the same value off of.

Hot damn, looks like downloading to a PS3 and transferring works for the PSP games that aren't on the Vita store...copying Valkyria Chronicles 2 over now...

If this works I am going to go on a digital PSP game spending spree :p

it's actually working? maybe it was just a bug yesterday then when you couldn't copy them from a ps3.

Does anyone know if this Hori protective screen is glossy or matte? I can't see the answer anywhere on that page.

Probably Amazon.co.uk, they had Ubisoft games for that price for a couple of days. I'm still kicking myself for not taking advantage because I thought they wouldn't honor it.

Thanks. I will probably wait for someone to order it and give feedback since the release date is tomorrow.

T'was I who looked at the product codes on the images for the Hori protectors. The Japanese glossy is PSV-001U and the Matte is PSV-002U. The one on Amazon.co.uk in 001U according to the image.

Fear not however.

My Hori screen protector was posted today from Amazon UK. My Vita collection has started! I'll see if I can discern the final truth tomorrow.

Do you already have a vita? If you can confirm if Valkyria Chornicles 2 indeed works using that method, I would be so thankful. Its the only game I care to transfer over, and its what I'm currently playing now.

Are you going to be able to transfer the saves?

Copying is still in progress so I'll know for sure in a few minutes. Maybe the guy who tried it didn't redownload it. It was sitting on my PS3 since November, didn't show up in Content Manager until I redownloaded it a few minutes ago.

Canada Vita peeps who got their systems early should definitely check out EB. They had men-cards, cradles, cases and other stuff.

Picked up my cradle preorder and a case for the game cards.

Yeah, I'm heading there in a bit. Also, I'm typing this on my Vita. Browser is decent.

I don't see any reason why not.

I have Brave Story in my download list, I'll give that a try next...

Resisting the urge to watch the unboxing. I'd like to experience it myself. It's tough but it will be worth it, only 13 more days to go. This is the first time in my 30+yrs of gaming I have ever pre ordered a console so it's quite exciting. =D

All you guys worrying about screen protectors and the release date of said items, have you considered these from Zavvi?
http://www.zavvi.com/10587263.html
I ordered a pack, and it says my est arrival date as the 22nd.
I never used Zavvi before, are they reliable?

Depends where you live. The shipping from Zavvi UK to Aus/NZ can take anywhere up to 6 weeks which is ludicrous when shopto stuff arrives less than a week from shipping to the other side of the world.

So we got another Vita in, this time the press kit. It looks pretty damn cool.

I made an unboxing video of it. If anyone wants to see it I'll gladly post it but I don't want to blogspam if there is no interest.

Skinomi TechSkin - Screen Protector Shield for Sony Playstation PSP Vita

Just ordered mine. I talked to a customer service rep from the company and they guaranteed me it will be here before next Wednesday

Normally a 24.99 dollar value, 6.95 on Amazon.

Product Description

Compatible with Sony Playstation PSP Vita
Virtually indestructible film with unmatched "invisible" screen clarity
Made from the same film material used to protect military aircraft
Smooth, non-sticky surface with patented layer of UV protection to prevent "yellowing"
Manufacturer Lifetime Replacements

In the comments, it says it comes with some things like some solution, the cloth, and a smoothing tool. I can't get the Hori one for a decent price but this looks just as good.

And does anyone have the RSS feed to keep track of g35twinturbo's flip flops?

I believe the issue has to do with import Vitas trying to access Download History content via transfers from their PS3s.

Our domestic Vitas don't seem to have any difficulty with it.

FYI, I'm looking in my download list and I'm noticing PS+ minis available for download to my Vita. I'm not sure which ones aren't because I'm just scrolling down until I see a "Download Now" icon but I definitely didn't pay for these ones. People said they couldn't yesterday. I think these random changes are because they haven't gotten everything ready yet. Let's not give up hope on stuff that isn't working right now.

EDIT: I can't download them yet though because I don't have a mem card. I'll confirm that they work later today.

I'm envisioning a situation where you'd have to transfer them from your PSP onto your computer, then onto your Vita from your computer.

I don't know how straightforward that would be.

It's pretty straight forward. It's not as though you can connect your PSP to your Vita.

I think it's more likely that the Vita OS doesn't support files that have an expiration date yet.

I seriously want this or the hori screen but I'll probably go with the Sony official one, considering it has two screen protectors, and I want one for the back touchpad.

It's amazing how last week it felt like the system was doomed from a retail perspective. Now my store has a ton of systems pre-ordered, people calling on it, groups forming at the demo.

I wouldn't get my hopes up but it is a good sign. The EB near me has sold out of most of their Sony games prior to launch. They need to get a drop shipment next week.

I like the sound of the [phat] Case that comes with the FEB. Wonder where overseas people can get it from. Our official accessories here are extremely limited. Very poor effort Sony. :P

/come on Thurs 23rd.

Has Sony mentioned how paying for the service works? Will they release pre-paid cards to sit next to the PSN cards on retail stores? Pay for it through PSN?

You can sign up for 3G service through the Vita itself I believe.

perhaps theres confusion....hes saying data AND free game where the launch is data to get free game .
if im way off ignore me...im tired

The caveat to that has always been that you need to purchase one month of 3G data in order to get a free month of data and the free game.

It's Sony, they'll probably make it the most difficult way possible, amirite?

I'm sure it'll be the same on both, pay one month to receive data and game.
