Well I'm disappointed but not angry, there are worse things in the world than a malfunctioning shiny new video game console (especially since it'll take a little while before I get a memory card)... though of course, if an early importer is aware of anything else I should try before declaring the system dead on arrival and sending it back to Amazon, I would appreciate. At least I got a few minutes of the numbers touch screen game out of it. :)
Hold the power button until it powers off. Should solve that issue.

If anyone has any Vita games, accessories, or memory cards on preorder from amazon, you can go to your order now and change the shipping to get it before Wednesday. Changing it will supersede the previous shipping date. I had mine set to release day and by changing it to one day shipping, I will now be getting Wipeout 2048 and my 16GB memory card tomorrow. Keep in mind this is with any of the Vita products that now say "in stock" on Amazon (US here).

It might be too late, they switched status on my items.

This is in the comments section about the PSP game compatibility on the Playstation Blog:

I have a Vita (yes, be jealous) and I can confirm that both Valkyria Chronicles II and Jeanne d,Arc both work fine. I haven’t had a chance to check Killzone Liberation or LittleBigPlanet yet, but those first two titles can both be added to this list.

So I'm wondering if the PSP compatibility list is the games which have been resubmitted officially for Vita?

Just got home from work finally.

Got a 32GB card from EB and I just started downloading Uncharted. :)

The screen doesn't seem to be as bright as my galaxy nexus though (or was somebody saying that the maximum brightness is higher in-game?)

I'm not talking about whether or not it is playable on the PS3, I mean whether or not it is currently supported for Vita. Right now there are some other Minis missing. I am not sure whose decision it is as to what games are on the list and aren't.
I know what you meant, I was saying the fact that the Mini can't be played on PS3 implies (to me at least) the publisher wishes to restrict the game to PSP, and it not being on that list isn't surprising, but is disappointing. Although saying that, I checked, and Tetris isn't the only Mini that can't be played on PS3, but they're a rare bunch.

Looks like my 32GB card and charge cradle changed to "Shipping soon". Still waiting for Wipeout and the Crystal Case (listed as 2/29 delivery, wtf).

Then I get to sit there and stare at them for a week and half without a Vita :(

I understand what you are getting at, that definitely makes sense! I was thinking the same thing. However, a game like Where is my Heart? is also missing. That was playable on PS3 and PSP, so I'm not sure if it's a technical thing, publisher thing, or Sony thing. :p

Mine still says 'not yet shipped', but it's not like I have a PSV to play them on yet anyways.

I just don't understand the point in holding consoles when it's clear that they are available for shipping.

Excited to hear some impressions from you guys. I fuckin' love my PSPs and I'd love to own a Vita, but I'm waiting for a price drop as $250 is a bit much for my blood. (I managed to score a PSP when for $159 when they hit the $199 price point due to a $40 Circuit City Coupon.)

There is still a few days until the launch is official, in Sony's book so maybe there will be a day one firmware update to mirror the one Japan just got.

So don't freak out when your favorite game isn't on there. Titles like PSP2 and Brave Story may not ever be compatible due to being taken off of the PSN store. People here on GAF have been saying that downloading Peace Walker/Valkyria Chronicles 2 and copying from the PS3 seems to work, so who knows at this point what works and doesn't.

I get the feeling this list is simply what's available for purchase from Vita, while other titles are capable of being downloaded from the PS3 and being put on the Vita.

I will be honest, I am disappointed that Where is my heart? is not supported as Mini at launch. That was one of my favorite games in the past couple years. It had a lot of charm and really unique mechanics.

Glad to see Sony is releasing information steadily before launch.

It's disappointing because I was also looking forward to Where Is My Heart?. I've had my eye on that game for awhile now. I'm freaking out a bit, though, because someone mentioned earlier in the thread that Sony has been very slow about adding support on the PS3 with PS2 titles, I guess? So that makes me think we'll get one or two more games added a week or something.

Heh I'm half tempted to go cancel my order from BestBuy and order from Amazon if they're going to ship it out already. Have they stopped shipping them early or are they still doing it?

PS3 firmware 4.10 says hi.

It's certainly an improvement but I don't know if I'd call it "good" yet. I wish they'd at least get scrolling to act like it should for more than half a second before it gets sluggish and choppy as hell. Plus there's that whole "took them 5 years to get to this point" bit lol.

With the Vita being a new machine I figured they'd have some better browser really built for it, hearing it's not that great is really disappointing, especially considering it probably doesn't come close to most smartphone browsers. I liked the idea of having a slightly bigger screen to do some browsin' on.

yep, it can render better but it still is way too janky, when scrolling, doesn't handle zoom well, fonts look terrible even at default zoom etc

Jeff Rubenstein told me on twitter last night that there will be tv ads at and after launch, not before... for those wondering where the advertising is.

Unbelievable... I received my Vita early from Amazon.ca. I plug in the power, boot it a first time without entering my PSN account info, and once the menu is booted up it seems that it will only allow me to create a new account. So I reset the system to factory settings, reboot it... and after I have rebooted, once I enter my wi-fi connection's password, the system freezes completely and I can't do anything. I unplug the power, wait for the battery to run out, then plug it back in, but this time the system won't power on at all.

Just great, did my system just get bricked a handful of minutes after I first tried it? Lol, what a bummer. Someone pinch me...
Hopefully the hard reboot suggestion someone provided with the power button will get your system cooperating.

I had the same prompt about creating a new account instead of using my existing one due to having not updated the firmware.
Ran the update first THEN signed into my PSN account without any issues.

cool....wake me in 5 years when it becomes viable.

cancelled feb....went with launch 3g....i cant find it in my heart to donate 50$ to sony.

On top of the added data functionality, the 3G model comes with an 8GB memory card, free PSN game, and BOGO month of AT&T Data Connect service; in other words, the 3G bundle is actually a better deal at this point.

I think the presence if dedicated applications will take the place of some browser necessity. Facebook, twitter, YouTube, etc... all apps (YouTube should be added soon, I'd imagine).
