Just cancelled my Amazon order, only to re-order with a different pre-order configuration (wouldn't let me bundle other orders with my existing delivery).

My old pre-order was listed as "Not Yet Dispatched", whereas my new order is "Dispatching Soon". I'm in the UK, by the way.

Errm.. reason to be excite? Or is this the case for everybody now?

My nipples just got hard. Let us know what happens.

PS. What exactly did you change/add/remove?

I think it's bullshit too

I run Ubuntu on my netbook, and would rather not fuck around with WINE. Why not have it as a mass storage device, like the PSP was? I don't want to install any shitty media applications onto my windows PC when it could have been done so much easier.

I thought Mac support was going to be added via patch?

Or was I mistaken with that?

The Mac/Windows Content Manager Assistant manage file exchange with Vita:
Mac --> http://cma.dl.playstation.net/cma/mac/en/index.html
Windows --> http://cma.dl.playstation.net/cma/win/en/index.html

I think AbsoluteZero is asking for a PSN Store shopper on the Mac.

Sony has MediaGo on Windows, but not on the Mac.

Other than these 2 shopping options, you can also shop on PS3 PSN Store, or Vita's PSN Store directly.

No longer have any PCs anymore, so have to rely on the PS3 or one of my Macs.

My biggest question, what is the easiest way to get my PSP save data over?

Seems like on the PS3, ill have to transfer the saves one by one, since there is no mass copy of save files from the psp to the ps3.

Some way to use the Content manager to drag and drop the save files from my psp men stick over?

It isn't mass storage like the PSP because it'd probably get hacked a lot faster that way.

I believe using the Content Manager program you just put all your saves into a folder and point the program over to that folder.

The Barrier Chief protector has a 2nd piece specifically molded to wrap around and cover the rear touchpad. It looked very impressive from the demonstration video on their site. The front doesn't look like it will be as easy to apply as the Hori but pretty darn close.

I'll have a better sense of how easy the protector goes on when I put it on my new system tonight.

Amazon.ca only shipped out standalone Wi-Fi units ordered on Tuesday and Wednesday this week before they switched the release date back over to the 22nd of February. Anyone buying now will need to wait and we haven't heard about any FEBs being shipped out early in this batch, either. I believe the issue was specific to the Wi-Fi standalone SKU.

Looking forward to your Barrierchief impressions, since I have one laying around here aswell.

I don't think anyone's going to argue with you that not having Mac support is silly. I felt the same way when I got one of the original iPods and they didn't have Windows support.

I'd prefer they use their time making sure PSone, PSmini and PSP games all work before making a Mac client. And it makes more sense for them to do so because Macs account for a much smaller percentage of PC OSs when compared to Windows. They had to prioritize., it sucks but that's just the reality of bringing any product to market.
Edit: Its already released?lol perfect troll by AZ.

There are 2 general needs:

(A) File exchange/sync/copy
1. Use Mac OSX Content Manager Assistant (Link in my previous post)
2. Use Windows Content Manager Assistant (Link in my previous post)
3. Use PS3

(B) PS Store shopping/download
1. Use MediaGo on Windows
2. Use PS3 PS Store
3. Use Vita PS Store

EDIT: They tightened the USB security perhaps because it's one of the most common (and successful) entry points to hack consoles.

For the same reason why Apple uses iTunes and Microsoft uses Zune.. Because they can. ;)

I just think it's pretty BS that Sony can't get this right. They're not new to this market.
I think you should go back to a nintendo thread and whine a bit about how your new (afterthought) slidepad hurts your hands.
This is the first Sony item I will ever have bought, so I dont have a backlog to worry about transferring.
Sony are taking steps to sort everything out, so it is not all doom and gloom.
Some people seem to have forgotten that patience is a virtue!
Bye!

It's changed now, bleurgh! Back to waiting until the 22nd. With all this talk of early deliveries and despatched games elsewhere I got a bit excited.

I ordered on Amazon with their Vita + 8GB card, but initially didn't pick a game. However I've since decided to buy Rayman Origins for £15 as part of the same deal, but I had to put the order through from scratch to get the game for £15. Also added the Thrustmaster case and Everybody's Golf.

So excited.

Vita WiFi
8GB
Wipeout 2048
Rayman Origins
Everyboy's Golf

All in for just under £300. Still expensive, but I'm getting more game for my cash than I thought I would when the pricing was first announced.

I don't plan on purchasing the slidepad...

While it WOULD be more important if you could actually do stuff like shopping over it rather than just uploading/offloading select files, it helps broaden the potential audience AND is likely much easier to get working than PSone games, whereas PSmini/PSP is likely a matter of QA and getting OKs at worst. So, yeah, getting that out ASAP was likely the better idea.

And glad to see yosp clear up the PSP BC availability! Even if it's exactly what I was saying (system isn't out, wait awhile first).

My GameStop folks here seems to tell me I can buy "digital only" PSN games like Escape Plan from them. How does that work ?

I just think it's pretty BS that Sony can't get this right. They're not new to this market.

The system has not launched. What is so difficult to understand. If those games are unavailable after official launch you can bitch, but at this point they are still finishing up. Geez.

Odd... and they markup from the PSN price ?

I don't see the codes in their store. When I asked whether it's the (paper/plastic) game cards, they kinda mumbled something I didn't catch. ^_^

Aiight, I'll just chalk it up as the regular game codes and cards instead.

i know i already asked a couple pages back, but does anyone with a vita have the twitter/netflix/facebook/skype apps? where do we download them? the ps store only has game/video tabs and search didn't find netflix or twitter.

I'm fairly sure they aren't available on the NA PSN Store yet. They'll probably be added next week.

There not available yet but it will be located in the "Apps" tab when the full store goes up.

Also, I doubt Netflix or Facebook are gonna be at launch. They'll probably be released in the "launch window".

I just spent $190.36 stopping by an EB Games on the way home to pick up some accessories.

I'm really surprised at how small the memory card is. It's cute.
The Travel Case is a lot bulkier than I expected. I think the FEB case is significantly better. $20 seems a tad high to pay for this. Oh well. Everything about the Vita is a tad too high priced.
My credit card will cry this month.

So your PSN account is directly tied to the memory card inserted and not the system itself?

If we wanted to have a JPSN account we'd have to have another memory card?

Is there a limit to the number of memory cards per account?

Hmm... the Google Maps app was added via a firmware update. So not sure if these apps will always be in the PS Store.

Anyway, I found this Maps demo on Vita:

That First Edition case is so much nicer than I thought aesthetically.
Glad I got it.

I'm probably importing the white leather case from Japan still.

I believe it's tied to both the system and the memory card. In other words, you can't sign in with another PSN ID unless you reset the Vita. No limit to the number of memory cards per account.

Just pre-ordered the Amazon bundle. Planning to get an 8 GB anyway so $20 more for 3G functionality that I may use occasionally and a free game seems like a decent deal.

Here's a pretty interesting interview with Drinkbox Studios about porting About a Blob: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39842/PSN_dev_Drinkbox_Studios_on_porting_code_to_miniPS3_quality_Vita_hardware.php

How much, if at all, easier has Vita development been compared to your PSN/PS3 experience?

Much easier. I think Sony has made a real effort to improve their development pipeline and simplify the hardware. While setting up a PS3 for the first time can be a bit of a pain, the PC development environment is much better on the Vita, and is similar to the X360 approach. The GPU and CPU profiling tools are coming along nicely and are already very useful.

I think Crush is going to be one of the first PSP games I get on Vita. Always wanted to play it.

If you never played Daxter, I'd recommend that too. One of the best 3D platformers lacking a gentleman in red suspenders since i-don't-know-when. The genre has been in steep decline since N64, so if you like a good mascot adventure, it's an oasis in the desert.

Is this bundle different than the Gamestop bundle?

The free game is only after 3g activation though, right? I gotta spend 15 bucks to get a free game. Unless I can get a retail game for free it isn't worth it.

Well I think people getting the 3G model will probably want to try the 3G anyways for a month. Plus when you pay $15 you're really getting 2 months of 3G and a $15 game.

Cool, I'll keep that one in mind.

So, Amazon.it lowered the price of the console, so now my preorder summary is:
Vita WiFi+Memory Card 8GB+Pre-Order box+Everybody's Golf = 266.22€

I almost feel guilty. :D

just played a round of modnation (it finally dled over my uni internet). i have to go to a meeting now so i didn't get to do more than a quick race (not in career mode).

• controls great
• framerate is a bit shitty
• definitely not native res (for those that care)

i'm a bit disappointed with the framerate, since it isn't even running at native res.

i'll post screenshots tonight.
