Well, you could always download them again. I guess you have a bandwidth cap.

No I don't, but PSN is so slow it took me all night to download the 4 review copies and we have 2 VITAs here.

Seems like I have to write all of them, then, because god knows the download won't be finished by the time I get outta here.

(just to put this into perspective, I have a 100mbit connection here and it took me 3 hours to download the 1.6GB big W2048. Bullshit I say.

Can you not copy them back/back them up from within the Vita though?

oh. right. I'll try that, maybe I can copy them back and they stay on the Vita? *fingers crossed*

Just wanted to ask, is 3G worth getting? I still don't fully understand the differences between the 3G and Wifi version.

Would I miss out on anything if I don't get the 3G one?

Sony said:
Saved data for PlayStation®Vita format software is managed together with the application data (game data).
i thought this was interesting.

whaaaat? it took me 28 minutes to download wipeout and i have like a 15mbit connection.

I forgot about that. I usually get at least 5 MB/s from the PSN, but it seems that it's really slow for the rest of the world.

You're missing out on a GPS and, well, the 3G. It's probably not important, but I decided to shell out the extra $50 just in case.

Quick question, probably for a UK GAFer...

I have pre-ordered the 3G/WiFi Vita from GameStation. I've heard that Vodafone are giving away Wipeout to Vita owners when they make their first £5 top up. Does anyone know if this only applies to Vitas purchased from Vodafone?

BTW thanks for this amazing thread GAFers, you are making the long nights between now and the 22nd just a little easier :-).

It does not. No matter where you buy your 3G from in the UK it comes with a Vodafone sim card and you just top it up with £5 and Wipeout is yours. If you buy the Vita from Vodafone direct you also get a 4GB card free.

Awesome, thanks for that super quick reply! The 3G really seems like a great deal now :-). Couldn't help laughing yesterday when the guy serving me pointed out that the pre-order pack should be £25 but they discounted it to £0. He even showed me the -£25 line on the receipt.

I added a list of incompatible games to the Q&A section of the OP. If anyone finds any other games that aren't working, please notify me.

I think it'd also be useful to have a link to Sony's official compatibility list, as well as a list of games that work but are not officially on their list.

Well, the PSN CAN be slow and annoying to download from, nevermind what this does for people wanting to try on a PSP and Vita. Wonder if it could be tied into neutering account sharing though?

Lol. We gave you this free pre order pack for free!

And I agree, the 3G costs you an extra £25 total over the Wifi. Much more reasonable. At that price it is worth a punt and if it's a feature you don't use then so be it. At least the option is there.

Considering one popular device on sale in the UK currently charges you £100 for the 3G option over the WiFi only.

Took one for the team here guys.

Y's 1 and 2 Chronicles does NOT work.
Some more games that don't work:
Brave Story
Pac-Man Championship Edition (mini)

hmm I hope EB will accept the crazy amount of Little Deviants trade ins on launch day.
I seem to be in the minority, but I'm looking forward to this. I know my girls are going to love it as well.

It'd be awesome, but - it's Sony. User friendliness and forward planning aren't their strong point.

I still think it's coming. surely Sony realize that downloading large file of game data only on PSVita and PS3 is very not user friendly. PS3 user is insignificant compare to PC, and you can't even do background download while playing games on Vita. it's gotta be affecting their digital download sales.
This is a conscious decision, not an oversight. Sony are restricting PC access as much as possible, for obvious reasons.

This makes me sad/angry/aware that I'll probably buy more than one Vita... :'(

The lack of attention and desire for Escape Plan throughout GAF is depressing. =(
The hype is there! It's just bubbling under because of the bigger names that are launching at the same time.

Well the reviewer basically said that it was a sad attempt of mimicking pikmin, it looks like a PSP game and does not really use much of the Vita capabilities, has no story, and is extremely repetitive.
The final score was 4.5/10.
Ugh, why mark it as a negative for not using the Vita capabilities? That's annoying, just because the Vita has gryo/front touch/rear touch doesn't mean a game needs to use them. :/

I'm afraid posting the list will give people the wrong impression since it's clearly incomplete. GAF can do better than that.

Edit: A link to the PS blog post is already in the OP.

Thanks for the effort.

What? You can indeed download in the background on the Vita, provided that the game you are playing doesn't use so much power that the wireless card has to be shut down...or is that the situation you are talking about? Certainly not every game disables the networking...

I only have Uncharted and Hot Shot Golf, and tried various demo like Gravity Daze, WipeOut etc, I think all of them disable the network. I have to try it again to be sure.

edit: ok just tried it again, only Uncharted and Gravity Daze disable the network function. HSG, and other demo can still keep the network connection

Pretty sure that the games that have multiplayer options do not turn off the WiFi. Ridge Racer certainly didn't. The only two games that did for me so far are Gravity Rush and Uncharted.

The irony being that if it DID use all of Vita's features then it would be marked down for being gimmicky and only using them because they are there.

My thoughts exactly, for the price difference I'd rather not risk being locked out of some game features and services down the road.

Alright guys, I really need some help. I've been going through it in my head over and over trying to come to a decision, but I can't seem to do it. I'm getting my Vita, and I'm gonna be picking up Hot Shots Golf with it for sure. HSG is an absolute. I want to get at least 1 more launch title with my Vita. Now if I were a rich man, I'd get all the games I want for the system on day 1, but I'm not exactly rich so I gotta try and show some restraint.

I would like to get the following: Wipeout 2048, Lumines, Rayman Origins, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Blazblue. If money wasn't an issue, I'd probably buy all these games if I could. I need to be responsible though, and not go nuts. So if I am to pick only one of these games, which would you suggest?

I really can't seem to make up my mind, because I'd like to own all of them equally. The only game in the launch line up that really stands above the rest for me is Hot Shots Golf, and that's why I've set that aside as a game I'm getting for sure. I just don't want that to be the only game I have to play. If Gravity Rush was day one, that would stand above the rest as well, but unfortunately we still have a few months go on that one.

Why don't you wait a month before picking up more titles? Then you can probably afford at least two more. I'm personally planning to pick up Uncharted and Wipeout once they drop a bit in price.

Well I've been saving my money for over a month to get the Vita, and I got enough for the system, HSG, and at least one more game. I got the money, it's been set aside. I just gotta pick and choose at the moment what's gonna be my day 1 purchase. I'll get more games in time to be sure.

Yeah, and it was a twin stick shooter ala geometry wars and everyday shooter except you used the face buttons, now you can use an actual second stick.

What is this witch craft you talk about? I've been playing KZ:L over the last few weeks while at work and the face buttons are X = Pick Up, Square = Shoot, Triangle = Reload = O = Throw Nade. D-Pad up = List of orders to AI.

Are you telling me I am using a shitty configuration?

All of those games are honestly a different genre of gaming. What games do you like to play and is playing online with others important to you?

I like to play all those kinds of games really. Online isn't really that important, I never can be very competitive when it comes to online gaming. I like portable games that can be played in quick spurts. UMvC3 and Blazblue would be cool, cuz I think fighting games can be great for a few quick rounds on a handheld, and those are both great games. Lumines was great on the PSP, and I'm curious to see how this new one turns out. I have not played Rayman Origins yet, but I think it'd be great for a portable game.

Wipeout 2048 might be where I'm mixed the most out of the games on my list. I think it's a fantastic looking Vita game, and could be fun. I have no doubt it's probably a fantastic game, and totally worth the price. I just don't play racing games a lot, and I'm not very good at them.

If you want multiplayer action I'd pick any but Lumines and Rayman since it will be launch and a shitload of people will be playing multiplayer and voice chatting. Plus the single player titles will come down as people finish with them and trade them in. (Personally I couldn't justify paying MSRP for Lumines when it's on XBLA for 800 points and probably PSN for cheap too).

Now you just got to choose between Wipout, MvC and BB!

- Fifa 12
This was dissapointing. Gameplay is not as smooth as the console version. I noticed framedrops which is killing for a soccer game. Graphics were ok but i expected better, on YouTube it looked awesome...

You almost killed me. :(
My month is riuned. :((

Other impression, maybe from the retail version?
Please EA don't give us Fifa with slowdowns... it was the reason why I preordered PS Vita...
I'm so sad now.

The only one of these games that doesn't scream replay value/value for money is Rayman. All of the others offer theoretically endless replayability because of online/score modes.

Disclaimer 1: I'm making the assumption that Rayman doesn't have a score mode
Disclaimer 2: Rayman looks amazing and I'm getting it anyway

Rayman actually does have leaderboards. :)

There have been other impressions from several people. Like every other game, some people think its great and some have a few issues with them. The videos I've seen of Fifa all looked silky smooth though.

In terms of choosing between UMvC3 and Blazblue, I'd imagine that the community will be more active with UMvC3.

If you are considering Lumines I would suggest looking at the tracklist to make sure you like the music.

Rayman Origins has no multiplayer unlike its console versions so it may end up being a quick game for you.

Wipeout 2048 is one of those showpiece titles for the hardware, but if you aren't a fan of racing games I would probably not bother since you want games that you can have fun with.

I'll probably pick that up together with Super Stardust Delta from the PSN store day one. Does anyone know how much the pre-order discount voucher is worth?

Pre-order discount voucher?
Some European retailers are offering a pre-order bonus with headphones, a discount voucher for a PSN game, PS Home items, an exclusive avatar, and early access to Frobisher Says!

Edit: Here's a picture of it.

Yes I had the same feeling, but we both saw videos (on Youtube) and he played the demo. The feeling is different I guess. Playing it, seeing it live you have a different prospective.

I don't want to say that the game sucks, I want to belive untill I have the opportunity to try it, but what I've just read is not something that excite me at all. Fifa with slowdowns is like Angelina Jolie with penis. :(

I need more impression...
