does it say what the free game is on PSN?

This thread and impressions have sold me. Was going to wait for inevitable price drop late summer but I'll use some gift cards and trade in promos to pre-order today.

New video for Fifa 12

In this video you see all the game modes, and a close look to the player. They really did a great job. I still don't see any slowdowns, but it is confirmed there are some. Let's hope for a patch.

Ah, the new IMPACT ENGINE is not in this game (of course, I'd say).

As I understand it, you can use Media Go to buy the games, but you have to download them directly to the Vita. Content manager can only be used to backup games on the Vita to PC and restore them again. Given that limitation, you might just as well buy the games from the store on your Vita in the first place... I have more than 70 PSN games in Media Go I bought for my PSPgo, and I'll have to re-download any of them I want on my Vita directly to my Vita...
Ah ok thanks :) thought I read somewhere that Media Go wasn't compatible with the Vita guess i misread.

Whats the likelihood that a 4g variant will be released in the near future? Basically, why should I get a 3g over wifi at this time?

Some guy on YouTube put up a rant that there's nothing inside his VT game case. He opens the case in the video, and there's the card. He was actually ranting that there was no manuals or anything inside the case. He felt he was ripped off on a "$50 product".

1) I think the manuals are all on the card itself somewhere
2) Who reads manuals?

Here's the list of PSP Games that I've tested on my Vita and confirm that they work:

(DD) - Capcom Classics Collection Remixed
(DD) - Dissidia: Final Fantasy
(DD) - Final Fantasy IV: complete Collection
(DD) - Half-Minute Hero
(DD) - Killzone: Liberation
(DD) - Kururin Fusion
(DD) - Little Big Planet
(DD) - LocoRoco: Midnight Carnival
(DD) - Lunar: Silver Star Harmony
(DD) - Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X
(DD) - Patapon 2
(DD) - Ridge Racer
(DD) - Sega Genesis Collection
(DD) - SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1
(DD) - The Legend of Heroes: Trails In The Sky
(DD) - Ultimate Ghosts N' Goblins
(DD) - Ys: I.II Chronicles
(DD) - Ys: Seven
(DD) - Ys: The Oath In Felghana

Nothing more exciting than a good legit launch. I think the gamer in general should be really excited for this. I'm in full on giddy hype.

And for those asking about PS1 games on Vita, consider this - Sony may have to enable some kind of new embedded DRM or extra bits to make the game attach and work right. Considering they are enabling tons of things to work across 3-4 devices, I think we should be patient. When things get moving on that front with stuff like PS Suite, I think a lot of people are going to be surprised and happy that these things are baking for the right amount of time.

The manuals are indeed on the card, and you can quickly switch to them with a press of a button. For my money, this is a fantastic way to provide much greater content, much nice content and completely preserved content in regards to manuals.

What a toolbag this fellow is.

Not happy that US games take on the X & O swap on the Hong Kong Vita I have.
Would have thought it would not be an issue as the system is Touch only and the games usually dictate which button does what.

Hot Shots Golf is X to cancel and O to go ahead, also saw the Youtube vid of Fifa and it was the same swapped button set up. Cannot change it on HSG in any settings (Not sure if it can be changed in Fifa)

Anyone else with an Import got any other US games to test?

Killzone Liberation PSP is correct though.

I still don't think Playstation Suite is coming, the service is still shrouded in mystery for something that was supposed to be up and running for the NA, launch. What about YouTube as well?

While not every game needs manuals (certainly some of these popular FPSes don't) some could stand to have a source on hand you could readily flip through, namely RPGs or at least games that might have a particular action you need to look up, and it WILL be a shame if this isn't just a publisher-by-publisher call but actually mandated by Sony that the only things allowed in a case are the game card and codes to put in.

Still, the on card manuals are an acceptable compromise (especially if they can speed up reading them in firmware updates or whatever), plus it mimics paper manuals in style rather than the help menu that the 3DS on card manuals are. I do kind of like having at least the fold out Nintendo's had for Zelda/Mario though, and it seems Japan had that much.

How does Ridge Racer look on the Vita?

I'm curious about this game, and want it, but I want to wait until they either release a lot of DLC content, a retail version with a bunch of dlc pre-loaded, or put a season pass kinda thing out there for all dlc after dlc becomes available.

I was talking about the PSP version, not the Vita version.

Blarg, just wanted to vent for a second. I did two batches of trade ins on amazon, I had submitted one, then later that night realized I wanted to trade some more games, so I submitted another. I put both batches in the same box, each with their paper print outs of which games go with which batch. The first batch got approved and paid but the second one still says not received! It says not received because amazon thinks it's in a separate box with a separate shipping label. I opened a ticket with support and they said they'd look into it. I'm sure it'll get resolved but it's preventing me from preordering Wipeout! I wont be able to do the free release day delivery and will likely have to pay more to get it here in time for the 22.

First world problems I know, I was still able to order the vita, uncharted, and the memory card, just a bummer that I can't order Wipeout yet.

That happend to me once. Explained it to an online customer service agent and she credited my account the same day

Four more days (or three).

I'll be getting a Canon t2i on Monday, so maybe I'll do an unpacking video with that.

I'm going to put up video of a subbed 720p anime running on it.

I would have gotten FEB if it was 299 with wifi only model, but 349 is just too much and I don't want 3G model...

The wait is killing me!

I love full colour manuals so it's a little disappointing. At the same time I have to face the fact that manuals are dying out. Also, the manual is on the game card. It shows up in the Live Area screen before you launch the game.

Also: it really is a shame that game prices slowly creep up, yet packaging keeps getting cheaper and cheaper. On one hand I imagine this DOES serve the purpose of Sony (possibly) to push people to digital distribution, but then I think retailers might not have as much to fear if they didn't PUSH for packaging to get cheaper, because honestly only good deals and card space push me to even bother with retail here. But cheaper packaging is probably more a Walmart thing than a GameStop one though, since it was them that was publicized wanting to reduce the weight of shipments.

Sorry can you please elaborate? Is this to give an example of how 720p content downscaled displays on ps vita or the vibrant color given off by the OLED screen with a strong anime color palette?

This might be stupid but I heard Vita game cases hardly has a new game smell. Usually when you open a game case you get like a new car smell.

Is that the case?
I got a stupid curiosity right now.

My girl isn't going to be available on Valentine's Day so we are doing stuff on the 15th. I'm going to be thinking about my Vita sitting at home the entire time.

I need to hand in my man card.

Although we are going to do our Valentine's Day stuff on the 14th, I DO have to work until 8:00 on Wednesday so I'm VERY disappointed.

For those with the Vita: Now that the PS button stays blue, what happens when you receive a notification? Does it flash blue still?

PS button
Check the status of your PS Vita system by seeing how the PS button lights up or blinks:
Lights up blue The system is on (including when power is being supplied).
Blinks in blue The system is entering standby mode.
Blinks slowly in blue There are new notifications, such as those generated when messages arrive.
Lights up orange The system is charging, either in standby mode or when the system is turned off completely.
Blinks in orange The system is charging, but the battery charge is too low to turn on the system.
In this case, wait until the PS button lights up orange.

Hi guys my first post here (hmm i registered around Japan lauch but got my account approved last week :D )

Question to early adopters - do you think on screen protective filters are necessary ?

And for people with early bundle - how is the map application ? Is it accurate with GPS tracking ? And does it support any driving directions ?

I never had any kind of protective filters or cases for my electronics. It's not necessary if you take care of your gear.

The map application is basically google maps.

Vita and Android PS Suite are confirmed in the FAQ.

PS Suite for Xperia Play in EU:

The SDK has been in closed beta for Japan, US and EU since November. Some sites mentioned that PS Suite for Android and Vita will launch in Spring 2012. PS3 PS Suite is also under investigation now according to interviews, but no final decision yet.

I don't get it, the image gets rotated automatically. Anyways, here's an iPod pic of Ys Chronicles on my PSV :

Maybe they briefly posted an updated version, sigh. I just bought it on UMD a week or so ago before deciding to double dip so I could play it on the Vita...
