Funn thing is - salesmanship is actually a very valuable skill, not many people can pull this off. Most people just think of it in a very negative way, and hire others with no skills or attitude. Then you get trolls like the guy in the store, and a sale is lost.

Yeah, my current job is based around sales, and making sure my staff push and get sales (and we've been very successful). However, my number one rule is this:

Tell the customer about the deal/product, ask them if they want it, confirm once more, then respect their choice. You're then giving the customer a good idea of the deal/product, but not going over the top and annoying them. You want them to return, not to never come back.

This guy in gamestation just wouldn't stop. Sure, try and get a sale - but don't piss off the customer, jesus.

The sad part is that these type of salesmen actually do sell a lot, mostly on the casual consumer that is unaware of these bullshit ploys.

When I used to work on Gamestop there was another person working with me that harassed and lie to the customer until he or she would pre-order a game/buy the membership/etc. and guess what? He had the highest number out of all of us, unfortunately. What a prick.

Concerning Fifa 12 and slowdowns

The guy that made this video replied to me (better, he updated his impression) and that's what he wrote:

@Snowballo I take back what I may have said before about slowdown, there are no slowdowns whatsoever

What was hilarious is that the only way we could get away from him was for my mate to say this:

"To be honest, we only came in to play it. we work at blockbuster, so I'd rather pre-order there."

The sales staff shut up immediately. But yeah, the stark contrast between the Gamestation and GAME staff was staggering. But then again, you could get the reverse situation in any other town. Just depends on whether the staff member is a dick or not.

The Gamestop I did my pre-ordering at said they were full on Uncharted pre-orders, so either they got a shit load of pre-orders, or they are only getting like 5 copies, ugh.

Maybe the slowdowns happen under certain circumstances.

Even FIFA 12 on PS3/360 sees slowdowns at certain points.

Okay im in, i'm gonna go for a vita next payday or the one after that, after
reading through this thread im getting excited for one.

Despite my reservations about the battery being built-in and not being able to have a spare, that i had earlier in this thread, but some gaffers have eased my mind about that

that and the fact mortal kombat is being released

i hope that at E3 they announce a Resident Evil Vita too.

This has to be a YMMV thing.

That's awesome if it's Gamestop policy with the FEB...

Well, more or less, my point was to say that Little Deviants has a retail bar code, and comes in a standard box. Most stores COULD let you exchange that unopened box for another equal valued game as if it were something you got as a gift you got that you didn't want.

To me, allowing you to do something like that might garner future business for that store. It's a customer service call at that point. Technically, that company might get stuck with copies of a title they can't move. Still, when that happens, they can return the unsold copies for credit. That's in general how it works for a company like Gamestop.

I saw a manual online showing how to open and replace the battery as long as you had the "special tool". The whole thing was in Japanese, but, still it could be possible if you had a way to get the new battery.

I just wanted to state, calm and rationally, that my hype for this thing is anything but that. I'm 34 years old but I feel like a little kid before Xmas. Chances are it can never live up to the hype built in my head, and that's fine, I'm sure the reality of it will be just fine. But sitting here, 5 days before my FEB comes in, I am geeking out. Hard.

Holy shit the price of those 32GB cards is a rip-off!

I say thank god for currency makes it so much cheaper when I import it from NA :P.

Really hope that the PS vita will be hack free for 3-4 years would be such a shame to see such a good device get hacked so early on or atleast not soft modded for quite a while.

Do look forward for emulators just imagine if it can play GC games(wouldn't be surprised if somebody emulated wii).
Lol that sole reason alone would make the PS vita a must buy.

PS Vita

Uncharted

Disgaea 3

8 or 16 GB MC (undecided)

Thats my shopping cart so far.

Tell me handheld GAF, have I missed anything?

GAF told me that it takes 1 min to load a level in Wipeout.

Fuck that.

They're patching it up, or so they announced on twitter. I read it was going to be released in Feb. 22 but don't take my word for it.

I heard Stardust Delta was amazing, so think about that one, it's only $10.

I'd wait for the patch to actually hit, personally. After playing the demo, the game is nice and looks incredible, but the amount of time waiting compared to time actually playing makes it very hard to recommend.

How about some PSP stuff you missed? Now that you can play with two analogs (right?) some of those games might be worth a second look.

As I understand it, you can use Media Go to buy the games, but you have to download them directly to the Vita. Content manager can only be used to backup games on the Vita to PC and restore them again. Given that limitation, you might just as well buy the games from the store on your Vita in the first place... I have more than 70 PSN games in Media Go I bought for my PSPgo, and I'll have to re-download any of them I want on my Vita directly to my Vita...

Confirmation on it being okay to buy via Media Go, and wait until Vita arrives for downloading purchases? Don't see why this wouldn't be perfectly reasonable, but might as well make sure before I go on a spending spree.

Whoa what? What's this online pass talk and what does it have to do with importing? I've been trying to follow Vita news but this I haven't heard of yet.

Online passes are the single-use codes that come with some new copies of games that are required to play them online. They're used as a way for the publisher to make some money on a second hand sale, as used copies will need to buy their own code separately on PSN for like $10 if they want to play online.

PSN codes are region-specific, so an online pass that comes with a US copy of a game will only be able to redeemed on the US Store. So, if I'm in the UK and I buy a copy of WipEout from the US, I can't redeem the online pass on my UK PSN account. This isn't a huge issue on PS3, as I can just redeem it on my US account, which is also activated on the system, but saying as how Vita only allows one account to be activated at a time, I can't use the code at all.

Worse still, like DLC, online passes are also region specific. So I can't even just bite the bullet and buy one from my own region's store, because only a US online pass will work on a US copy of the game, as the software IDs won't match up.

Basically, if a game uses an online pass and you import, you can't ever play online on your regular PSN account.

... unless you are using an account from that region right?

so if you buy a US copy of, say, Golf and you have a US PSN account then you are fine. Right?

At least that's my understanding/hope/... mistake? lol

God, I would marry everyone in Sony and Gaf if they would make a GOOD Jet Moto game on the Vita.

Edit: OR at least add Bikes on Wipeout lol

Oh, yeah, that'll work just fine.

You'll either not be able to import any online pass games (your PSN account is in your home region), or be forced to import them (your PSN account is from another region).

Thanks for clarifying this - this is a pretty important point and needs to be made clearer. I actually think it basically negates any claim of 'region free' that Sony has been throwing around (for any online-enabled game, that is). Just another level of confusion for the customer.
