to Uncharted players who finished U:golden abyss on Vita.....do you need to play all three of the PS3 UC games to understand the story in golden abyss? in fact do you need to play ANY uncharted to get the story in GA? Im one of those who have not even beat UC1 (i plan to someday!)....but Im interested in GA

or how bout....if I play GA, will it spoil any of the storyline for the main UC games on PS3?

so any reviews/thoughts for ridge racer? it looks great but i know it lacks content but im going to temped to get it when it goes down in price

Not having played it, I'm convinced people would get more fun out of playing Ridge Racers (PSP, PSN). It just has so much content and a solid framerate.

Although I haven't read any impressions on how well the online play is in Ridge Racer Vita, that might be a dealbreaker.

GA is a prequel, so it might be perfectly suited to be your first Uncharted game.

If it really isn't the full ad, than it could still be good. I was just wtf-ed at how abruptly it stops.

I get the point and it seems well executed.

Sony needs to go back to their PS2-era marketing department. They had some very memorable ads with great messages, which set a perfect tone for the brand.. quite unique.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie7oDMY1aCQ

They used to collaborate with David Lynch too.. great stuff.

Wasn't this made by Chris Cunningham? So awesome.

To be honest, I think that Vita ad is better than a lot of other ads on TV.

I hate ads that go on for a long time and play some stupid annoying song but tell me nothing about the product (like the recent Heineken ads). At least this one is fast.
I also hate ads that assume I don't have internet or other means of finding out what a product is so they go on forever telling me what it is... Which is fine for the first time I see the ad. But every other time, I want to cry.

This ad is short and just puts the Vita on your mind. If you want to know more, go look it up.

Is there a realistic chance that the system does not sell very well in the USA, and by consequence in a year or two support will dry up and i'll only be able to use this thing for a very limited library?

I know it is struggling in Japan currently. I am asking because i only want to buy a $300 model if it is a safe investment.

So I had a problem where the WipEout 2048 game I preordered on the 25th of last month got delayed or something on my order and said it was going to be delivered on the 16th of this month. I cancelled it earlier today and re-purchased it again (because it said release date delivery) and it shipped today! I'm glad that's sorted out. I need me some launch WipEout!

I successfully traded in my PSP today. It took three visits to different store to find one that would take it though :/ Weird thing is that each one had a different issue with it.

I ended up in HMV so I now have £63 on a gift card, since Game wouldn't take it I suppose I'll have to move one of my pre-orders to HMV. Game's loss I suppose. Since I now have more to spend I've updated my launch day list and I think it is now final.

Vita, 8gb Card and Virtua Tennis - £232 Amazon
Everybody's Golf - HMV, I hope it isn't too expensive
Uncharted - HMV, same deal as Everybody's Golf
PSN card which may be used on Everybody's Golf if it's quite expensive

The more people that buy it, the more of a safe investment it'll be.

No one can say.
If you're not willing to take the plunge knowing what we know now, then just keep waiting.

There is a very realistic chance that the system doesn't sell very well in the US. That said, I don't think it will be in a way that causes companies to immediately drop support for the system.

Don't buy things for the future. Wait until there are enough announced games to justify buying it.

For me, I want to play a bunch of psp games I missed due to my distaste for the psp-3000. That is worth the $300. :)

Nah, it will do a lot better then japan. I have lots of friends that I didn't think were into video games and are into this system.

Not sure if they ship internationally.
Does anyone know if Lockerz do ship internationally? Uncharted works out at around £24 after watching one video, that's of course minus whatever the delivery costs would be for shipping to the UK if they offer it.

Edit: Seems they do ship internationally.

If you enjoy Sony first party/second party games I don't think you'll regret buying a Vita because even if it tanks Gizmondo style Sony will still support it.

Finally got to put my hands on one today via a demo unit. It sure does feel nice and I no longer feel the need to drop my pre order. Fits in my hands much better than the PSP so excited for it to be the 22nd.

200 down on it already via trade ins over the last few months.

Also I must say that after seeing the screen and feeling the quality 250 is a fantastic price.

sounds like these are all teasers ads with bits and pieces being released at a time, and eventually there will be a big revealing ad to show games, graphics, features, and happy smiling people/kids having fun with their vitas...all with the world at the play in their hands

i hope this is sonys plan for the ad campaign

It would be a first.

The 3G is the only thing about it you can't sell. If you don't want the 4gb card, throw it up on amazon for $15 with $4.50 shipping. If you don't want Little Deviants sell that for $28ish. Once you subtract whatever you don't want, it won't come out exactly even with a wifi, but it will be close, you'll have a nice case and have it a week earlier.

Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Come to the dark side. You know you wanna.......

Thats what i'm doing. I'm swapping the 4GB and LD for a game.

There are now fancy banners in the OP thanks to weekend_warrior. It should hopefully make it easier to navigate.

And the pricing for Aussie/NZ has been wrong since day 1 ;)

Aussie is
Wifi = $349.95
3G = $419.95

New Zealand is

Wifi $449.95
3G $549.95

These are based on RRP.

marketing in general is supposed to make the ad memorable, even if it means annoying you, so that you remember it. I've already forgotten this ad.

Well, I only remember those ads because I see them basically every commercial break. And I didn't even remember they were Heineken ads until I googled it. I just remembered the songs and something about beer.

I think if you saw this and other similar ads enough, "Vita" would be a memorable thing.
But I guess we're all terrible at saying how effective it would be... since we all already know about the Vita.

Wait, what?
Literally 3 seconds before I read this, I bought MOHU FU via Media Go on my laptop for £7.99.
My intention is to go to my download history on my wifi Vita and download it from there, is that possible? I dont own a PS3.

From what I've been reading, Content Manager Assistant (CMA) will not recognize/see PSP games purchased and downloaded to your PC using the Media Go software. If you purchase and download the game using a PS3, CMA can see it and transfer it over.

If you don't have a PS3, you'll need to wait until Sony adds MOHU FU to the Vita Store and then you'll be able to download it from there using your Vita. Hopefully they'll have it (and all the other PSP games everyone is buying) up there on the 22nd.

Today, I finally broke down and played with the in store demo for the Vita. I got the same impression that a lot of you guys did, so I'm not really going to repeat out the experience for the most part. I do have to say, those sticks will take gettings used to. I kept slamming walls in Wipeout, and kept missing my mark floating around in Gravity Daze. My fingers didn't really touch the back touch panel. They kind of hovered over it. Overall, I was impressed.

Next week is like Christmas for me. I got a screen protector and awesome headphones coming on Monday. I got Wipeou/HSG/32gb card coming either Monday or Tuesday, and the First Edition on Wednesday with games ready and downloaded on the PS3.

I wish Mortal Kombat was a launch title, it looks so much better than UMVC3, but I guess I will settle on UMVC3 since I need my portable fighter fix =/

The Vita is such a versatile piece of hardware that I seriously doubt support will significantly dry up.

Sony is even putting one of its biggest first party developers -- Media Molecule -- on it exclusively.

There's going to be a lot of content by virtue of support for other platforms. For instance, many PSN titles should be compatible on both Vita and PS3 going forward, so you will continue to have rich content at your disposal. Ditto for games published on Android as part of the Playstation Suite. Not to mention cross play between the two platforms (or transfarring, as Kojima would put it).

Got to finally use one tonight (Gamestop). Will only bore you with my dislikes - the left analog stick is too close to the dpad, and holding the device in such a way as to avoid the back-touch is really uncomfortable for me. Otherwise my pre-order isnt getting cancelled. I will however think twice about buying games at full-price that aren't native resolution. Hot Shots was ugly.

It's because there's actually software I want to play. And there's MORE software I want that Sony is holding back because they are cockheads.

Launching really good games on launch with other really good titles cannibalizes sales. I'm guessing the hold on certain titles is for development, polish, and to help ensure they will sell.

I'm happy that I'll have some time to beat Golden Abyss before baseball drops, and some time after that until another AAA level title drops. The price point on games also makes it reasonably easier for me to pull the trigger, and purchase over making decisions on $60 titles for non-portable consoles.

Do you think it isn't a bad idea to make games like Gravity Daze or Unit 13 compete with all the other launch games? 26 games at launch is quite a bit. Granted half of them probably aren't worth playing and half of the rest of them are games that already came out on consoles, but I can definitely see why they would hold some games back.

I will however think twice about buying games at full-price that aren't native resolution. Hot Shots was ugly.

Lucky for you then that HSG is 25% off on Amazon.

I don't want 3G, Little Deviants, the case or a 4GB card (my 32GB arrived already.) So I can't justify the FEB even though I have been trying to talk myself into it.

Instead I've been trying to come up with exciting and worthwhile hobbies I can take up and master within the week of painful waiting, like juggling, sewing or learning to read Sanskrit!

Ok, it's gonna be a hell of a long week.

Try tai chi.

Why not just start a new game to occupy time?

I seriously need to finish Uncharted 3 before I get the Vita with Uncharted. My fiancee says she is going to play it until I beat Uncharted 3 lol. She's already beat it [Uncharted 3], and I don't know why I haven't yet. I love Uncharted but I just got into this funk where I didn't play games for a few months and I still haven't completely gotten out of it.

Can the GPS be used in games even if I'm not paying for 3G service?
