Anyone else feel the PSVR is sort of an invasion of english game developers?

From many of the games - with their english disembodied voices, to the developer diary type video interviews, etc. It is like Sony allocated to the UK most of the heavy lifting.

It's the Move launch all over again. I remember most Move first party games were also very... British.

I finally got around to buying the Super Stardust Ultra VR upgrade. The new mode they added for VR is actually way cooler than the screenshots and videos made it seem. But what was surprising to me was the regular mode in VR.

It's like the sphere you play on is this giant planet in front of you and everything is very 3D. If you like Super Stardust already, definitely check it out in VR. It's only a $10 upgrade.

I actually find the new VR game mode to be pretty shite. Doesn't feel "stardusty" in any way. It's basically just an inferior Battlezone.

Whereas the regular game in VR is goddamn superb, so I'm not regretting having bought the DLC upgrade at all. It also caught me by surprise, I had no idea this was also included.

They need to fix the problem where the tracking wobble error accumulates the more you use the system, and the only fix is to power cycle the whole console. That's 100% software problem.

Keep in mind that you can (partially) experience both those things from a demo. I do think the Worlds is pretty expensive, considering that two of its mini-games are not that great apparently (luge and that space one)

Scavenger's Odyssey is awesome if you've got the stomach for it.

Very intense, really shows off VR look-based controls and the need for spatial awareness well, and it's a neat little SF short story to boot.

I actually think it's more like the type of VR game we would have gotten if VR became mass-market in the late 80s or early 90s. Kinda like what someone would picture Centipede VR as back then. I had a decent amount of fun with it

Not gaming related, but I swear I dropped my work-induced stress level by 50% by coming home at lunch time, loading up the Vrideo app and watching a 360 video of puppies! :)

On the gaming front I'm enjoying the laid-back nature of Sports Bar VR. The tracking can be tricky at times, but the games feel genuine. I just wish it had more things to do.

Driveclub VR is fucking amazing. Haters be damned. Not sick whatsoever and damn, is it just a joy to do the races. Vomit comet this is not, at least for me.

Never played the original and to have gotten this version for only $20 is practically highway robbery.

The game itself for me looks fine as well. I actually feel like the full game looks better than the demo, but that might just be me or the car I was in as well. There's a crapton of content in the game and more than likely, this and Rigs will take up most of my PSVR time.

It is just such a joy to play.

Does anyone else here have it? Hoping on joining a club.

I bought DC VR, Battlezone VR, and RIGS and don't have a VR yet though.

Or a PS4. Waiting for my PS4 Pro to come atm. Fking so far away QQ

I really, REALLY wanted to like this game (even bought a G29 in anticipation for it), but nope. I tried the demo, and every time I take a turn I get hella unpleasant feels from my brain being confused by the lack of centrifugal forces.

Finally picked up VR Worlds on the strength of the menu in the demo, and played through Part 1 of Scavenger's Odyssey. A few thoughts:

- I only completed part 1, but it's longer than I expected, I thought the game would be over when I finished part 1.
- It's a lot more fun than the videos make it seem, which appears to be a trend in VR, it's also wonderfully immersive. The sound design, contrast of being outside in a meteor storm and then the quiet, cavernous interiors of a derelict space hulk is fantastic.
- Graphics are just a tad muddier than the London Heist. It looks like it might not be native res, but I expect the Pro patch will help here.
- I was a bit worried about movement but surprisingly I was completely fine, even when I was jumping and twisting in weird ways that I thought would make me feel dizzy. I've never actually gotten sick playing VR, but I expected some intense dizzy spells watching footage. The only time I got dizzy was when I was circle strafing or rotating/pivoting the cockpit manually.
- Gameplay is simple, but the sense of wonder more than makes up for that. By the time I was done, I kinda wanted a full AAA treatment, with maybe a couple more mechanics layered on top to keep things fresh. Perhaps actually let you fully explore the exterior of derelicts, use a cutting torch to force entry at weak spots, find and mine minerals, refine them to upgrade your ship etc.

Danger Ball
This was a LOT more polished than I'd expected. It's good fun, but I really wish we could use the Moves as paddles. I badly want a table tennis game in VR!

The London Heist
Pretty much as expected. I think they probably showed off far too much of this during the build up to launch.

Tracking Observations
Before playing VR Worlds, I power cycled the PS4 and the PU. I've suffered from World Wobble since day one, and was pleased to see that when I started playing (beginning with Danger Ball, then London Heist) that the World Wobble was hugely reduced. Still there, but far, far less intense than usual.

However, by the time I started playing Scavenger's Odyssey, it began to creep back in. It was still less than usual, but it was noticeable.

As soon as I quit Scavenger's Odyssey, I launched Tethered, and noticed that the World Wobble had become quite pronounced. I just have no idea what's causing this. I'll experiment a bit more tonight with some more power cycling.

A few thoughts on Tethered.
Played through the tutorial and had a decent time. It seemed like things could get really hectic, which isn't really what I'm looking for in a God Game, but I'll play it some more. What bummed me out (and I knew this going in) was the lack of Move support. I wish you had the option to physically tether, or point at your Peeps. Having played the demo for O My Genesis, I really want that direct connection with my little peeps.

Woah.. Shit that sucks to hear dude. What did you do with the G29?

Just finished Wayward Sky. Awesome game that I highly recommend. Incredible sense of scale and the art style lend itself well to vr.

Very minor gripe is the puzzles are a little simple. But I didn't mind because it made it a relaxing game.

Nice to see I'm not the only person who enjoyed SO!

Getting full & complete freedom of movement, being able to hang off walls with a grappling tether would be cool...also like the idea of being able to blow torch through walls & suchlike.

Definitely one I'd like to see get made into a full game too.

Well, there's always vanilla Driveclub, and also GT Sport to look forward to.

But I wouldn't have bought a wheel in the first place if it weren't for Driveclub VR. I'm not enough of a driving sim fan for that. But the appeal of racing in VR pushed me over the edge.

I wish there was a way to hide the on-screen prompts, it makes the simple puzzles insultingly simple.

I wish I could play through Scavengers Odyssey, haven't been VR sick until this game, even Driveclub was fine, I'll try again once I get the Pro

Anyone notice that PSVR Worlds is "missing" another experience. If you look around you in the menu are, each section has a statue. There is one statue missing though and it seems to have been broken or smashed.

I have a feeling that either A) There was another section at one time that was abandoned during dev or B) there is an unlockable section that no one has figured out how to unlock yet.

I have this weird feeling there is some easter egg to unlock in the main menu using the balls, specifically the dangerball which you can smash around the environment but sadly I have zero idea how to use it.

Just started RIGS, and have a weird issue. Whenever I turn, either by looking or with the right stick, the black area outside of the games FOV seems to contract/shrink. When I settle into place, it expands back to normal. Haven't experienced this with any other game, but it's really very distracting. Any tips?

That's the sixth archstone, you have to kill all bosses in order without dying or gaining a soul level to unlock it.

^^^ DjRalford is right. It's in the settings. Take it easy, Derek. A lot of people can't handle the game at first! But once you get the hang of it...

I did notice that and I was wondering the same thing. My guess is DLC.

What on-screen prompts? Unless I was missing something.

Do you have to buy the new mode to get the regular game in VR? I assume it's actually VR and not cinema mode?

Me and a buddy found another guy online in Rigs and won every single match, we were hooting and yelling and passing the ball.

End zone is so fucking fun!

It's so freaking incredible.

Then I ended the night watching some 3D 360 girls on stripper poles in Vrideo

VR man....

I got 50€ ps points. I thinking of buying tethered and another one.

Which should I buy ?

Batman if you don't have it, the story playthrough is about an hour tops, but theres more to it at the end for replayability, don't want to say too much as i don't want to spoil it :)

I agree with you. My main gripe is the blurriness in the distance. It's so bad that it made me question my own vision. It's tough to make turns when I can't make out the horizon. i wasn't interested in PS PRO until now.

Aaw I finally made up my mind but Amazon.fr is now out of stock too.

I'm not sure I won't have motion sickness so I was planning to send it back if needed.I'm not even sure I can do that in other game stores.

Too bad..

In all honestly, Driveclub never really clicked for me with a wheel. Project Cars on the other hand and previous iterations of Gran Turismo are infinitely better with one.

Picked up Tethered last night and absolutely love it, can see me losing a lot of time to that game.

Also managed to grab a sealed US copy of Battlezone on eBay for £25/$30 as far as I'm aware there is no DLC for this game is there?

Is there any reason Battlezone is $60? Loved loved the demo, but man it seems pricey.

Just picked Tethered. I have never spent that much money on games in one month. Damn you PSVR!

I know that feeling, so far this month I've purchased

Retail - RIGS, Rush of Blood, VR Worlds, Battlezone
Digital - Tethered, Batman VR, Thumper, Keep Talking Nobody Explodes, Jackbox Party Pack 3 (All US store so valid for the spend $100 get $15 back)

Tethered is a must if you're into this sort of games.
I don't know about Batman, I thought the "campaign" was super short. In fact when I saw the credits the first time I had a brief moment of confusion, like, "wait, that was the prelude?... Oh right, it's short, now I remember."
Sure, there's the NG+, but I'm not sure that will wash that impression I have that I wasted 20€ on this. I was also not a fan of the jump scares. I simply don't like that and this game has its fair share of them.
That was all my negatives about Batman VR in one place but keep in mind everything else you've read is also true... you are Batman :)

I think it should be less (at least $50 like RIGS), but I've also already gotten as much time out of it as I have other "normal" games I've paid that much for in the past.

I haven't bothered playing it co-op, though that might be an incentive for some people. The game's meat lies in its light roguelike campaign. Each attempt gives you a randomized hex grid and your goal is to get to the volcano somewhere on the other side of the map. Most of the hexes are battle arenas with one of a small variety of different goals and can take 5-10 minutes each to complete. Others are supply points where you can buy or exchange weapon upgrades (new ones can be unlocked each playthrough, which means that they have a chance to show up at supply points at any point on a future run), small events where your choice can either give you a bonus or penalty, or shield generators. There are three of the latter on each map and taking the time to destroy them can make the final battle at the volcano much easier.

The problem is that every time you make a move on the hex grid, your enemies get stronger and there are only a few ways to weaken their advance. Once they reach certain levels, they will also start sending out ultra-powerful Nemesis tanks your way.

Thankfully, in addition to the supply points, you can also buy more lives (you start with 3) and other basic upgrades to your tank's functionality. Likewise, there are, I think, 8-9 different tanks in the game, though most have to be unlocked.

Honestly, the randomization plus risk/reward system of taking the time to power up your tank vs. letting the enemy get too strong is pretty interesting and the action stays fast and fluid the whole time. This game is *not* easy, though playing co-op might make it a little more manageable. After about ten attempts, I've finally managed to complete an Easy/Short campaign on my own, the simplest combination there is. And at about 45 to 90 minutes per playthrough, that's pretty good for a $60 game.

Medium and Long campaigns, I imagine, can go 2-3 hours a piece. And I haven't even unlocked most of the upgrades/tanks in the game.

You can make the argument that RIGS provides similar overall value, which is why $40-50 might be a better price point, but $60 isn't impossible to justify if you enjoy the gameplay.

I received my PSVR yesterday (ordered the day before on AmazonFR - It's sold out now ).

I had time to tried Ocean Descent, DriveClub VR and Rigs (all demo).

Ocean Descent was nice, It's a nice introduction to VR as you just have to look around. My mother liked it too.

DCVR felt awesome, I never managed to play in cockpit mode before but in VR it's just so natural. I'll definitly buy it.

Rigs, seing the huge Mech in front of you is quite impressive.
The game though, I'll need to get used to the controls I think because I felt bad instantly when I tried to turn with the stick while aiming.

I also tried cinematic mode while playing Overwatch. It was ok i guess, text was tough to read but it was playable.
I had that left drifting issue though, I did not notice it with the VR demo. I hope I'll be able to fix that because I needed to recenter every 2 minutes.
