PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

Alright fellas,

Need a game reco since I'm finished with Rush of Blood. I'm trying to decide between Farpoint and Arizona Sunshine. My original plan was to play through both of those with the Aim Controller. But, those are impossible to find and we don't know when those things will be back around.

What's my best bet? Farpoint with the Dualshock or AS with the Moves?

Arizona is really bad.

Farpoint is far better but I don't know if playing with the Ds4 will be worth.

If you haven't, play RE7 while you find an Aim controller for Farpoint.

I really wouldn't play Farpoint without the Aim controller. It is essential to the experience.

Farpoint is really damn awesome, but only with the AIM. Don't buy it without the AIM.

I guess, as much as it pains me to say it, Arizona with Move is better. But I have to go on record for the 18th time and say that I think it's a low-quality shit-fest.

Well shit guess I'll wait on Farpoint until the Aim controller is more readily available.

I want RE7 but I'm a damn coward despite loving horror. Hmmm, maybe Dick Wilde?

I bought a thrust master T1500 steering wheel awhile back and finally plugged it in and tried it with Drive Club. I'm terrible at the game - and the environment graphics are dodgey to be sure - but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't an incredible experience. Can't wait to go home tonight for another spin, it's truly addicting. I've honestly not been interested in any racing games for literally decades!
I downloaded dirt rally as well but haven't tried the VR mode yet. Excited!

Dick Wilde is a fun shooting game especially with 2 moves

I hear this game is also great with the aim controller that no one can buy. Should I wait for that, or is it almost as good with the moves?

Can't comment about aim control as mine still hasn't arrived but dick Wilde is very good with move controls (but very hard too so expect a challenge!)

Not sure what sales overall are like but man, what a great time for VR.

Finally a great sale with lots of great choices id say on the psn sale, picked up vr worlds and Mervils but have yet to dive in. I really liked the battlezone demo but not sure if ill buy full game, spent an absurd amount already on psn this month.

I also bought Rez on sale a couple weeks ago and its even more of classic in VR then it was on ps2. Havent even got to area X yet.

And i just finished Farpoint finally last night, what a ride/experience. I agree with the others it NEEDS to be played with Aim.

It took me weeks to find the bundle but lucked out with the last one with target. Funny enough i saw like 5 of them in best buy a week or so ago, didnt realize its still a bitch trying to find them. Theyre gone now. Good luck to those still on the hunt, was worth the wait imo. Hoping the aim gets strong support, i think its a super slick controller.

For those in the know, If ive already played re7, rush of blood and farpoint..is here they lie worth the 8? I liked the demo of it too but the controls sucked and was blurry af. Funny enough it was the only real game that made me a bit woozy but this was before i got my VR legs.

Now i play with all comfort options off and smooth on. I even play Driveclub VR in bumper cam and lean fwd like im superman lol

V of War planned for PlayStation VR release (?)
According to their twitter, they are saying it's coming to PSVR but can't find any more information beyond that.
http://www.vofwar.com/
We adopted the 5v5 mode in the competition. Actually, 5v5 is a very common way for E-sports competition, however, it is uncommon for a team combination of both PC players and VR players. In this competition, each team is formed by 4 PC players and 1 VR player.

Here's the alleged multiplayer gameplay, which doesn't look VR at all :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74voHgLy-Rg

And here's the actual VR gameplay from single player stuff :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hewa6UGjKI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFPr-ffZHck
before you ask, it's a Vive gameplay, and look at how jittery it is.

ArtHands

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Retrofitting the games for AIM controller looks to have created lots of issues for the devs, especially when they are designed with dual wield in the first place

Not to confuse with Special Forces VR.
This is Special Force VR developed by Korean developers, confirmed for PSVR.

Trailer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NvKY7yhRDY
Special Force is actually a pretty famous multiplayer shooter in Korea, so this is a single player experience thing. According to their website, this is a planned 2019 release, why even bother. There's also Gear VR and Vive version, apparently they are all different.

Ordered a T Flight 4 HOTAS for Elite and noticed that the list of supported games (link) contains Eve Valkyrie and Starblood Arena.

When did Eve start supporting this? I checked at launch and it definitely didn't.

Tempted to get Eve while it's discounted. Liked the demo, hated the price.

I was fairly terrible at regular driveclub with the ds4 but played it a little anyway and bought a G29 for the VR game's release. The graphics don't live up to other PS.VR experiences, but you soon forget that and just accept the world around you. Pretty incredible and the hours can soon pass, just wish there were settings for resolution vs IQ, 'cause I'd much prefer a less realistic view of the world at a super-sampled higher resolution, vs this sub-naitve-looking pixellated blur even on Pro.

Hoping for a demo but looks decent from those 2 shots.

Dual wield with Moves would have been fine, but now they've a little extra work and a few challenges if they want to cash in on the excitement around Aim after Farpoint, and they clearly have to put in the effort to get it right.

There's a lot to live up to for anything supporting Aim going forward, though. AS might have got a pass on PC as an early title with something of a lengthy campaign with little in the way of outright competition, but the production values of Farpoint coupled with compelling moment-to-moment gameplay and satisfying ground-up Aim support set a very high bar for every other shooter looking to replicate or better its success. Those designed with Aim from scratch have their work cut out, adapted dual wield games from other platforms even more so.

Eve is discounted now? I bought it at 40, well worth it, but then again I love space combat

farpoint - even w a standard controller it's a much better game that controls perfectly. arizona controls terribly, bad tracking, when you aim your barrel wobbles a lot. the game has a lot of problems. after a few patches when they fix the controls and tracking it will be ok, but still it's not a quality game like farpoint

i'm having fun wth ancient amuletor. it's a quality vr game. it seems like a tower defence game but really it's more of a shooter. essentially you're teleporting between pillars, and killing enemies. but you can build up your special meter and attack multiple at once. some enemies have bombs to explode. tracking and controls are spot-on, art style is nice. weapons have a great feel, especially the bow and pistols. and you can play co-op online. the full game is much better than the demo. you can switch characters on the fly, there are bosses. first dlc adds new characters and levels for free. recommended

What about the amount of content? Reviews say its pretty short and easy.

Haven't played my PSVR since finishing Farpoint. And before that I had a long spell of not really touching much beyond Residnet Evil 7. My favorite experiences are horror games in the VR, any decent ones come out for the PSVR I might have missed? I've only played Until Dawn Rush of Blood and Resident Evil 7 as far as horror titles go.

Bought and played a little bit of Bound since it is on sale this week. Visually, this game is gorgeous. The colors explode into my eyeballs in VR.

Just having trouble getting used to the camera. Haven't played a game in VR until now where I am in charge of the camera control. I tried all 4 settings and the default is definitely the best one. Kind of bothersome that I have to constantly push up on the left stick.

Almost equal parts platformer as it is camera-controller. Anybody else feel this way?
(Don't get me wrong, I love it so far.)

  • Here They lie (this is on sale right now)
  • Brookhaven Experiment (with Aim support in the next few... erm... years
    actually July 11th
    )
  • Weeping Doll (not very good but worth a couple of quid)
  • Dreadhalls (as part of the Herocade bundle)

Thanks for the impressions. I tried the demo, and at first it seemed really fun. Then the bow started to drift way over (usually to the left) and sometimes the arrow was going in odd places in my hand. I think I recalibrated and it still happened. Not sure if it was my setup or the demo or what.

At this point, I'll have to wait on a deep discount to buy the game and try again. Unless you had similar issues with the demo but the full game is fine. Did you try the demo first?

They patched it in several months ago. I'd totally get a HOTAS if Elite supported PSVR...

Eve plays fine with the DS4 though, IMO.

Arizona Sunshine gets reasonably scary in the dark levels and with surround sound :D

Second the recommendation. Very atmospheric and melancholy, creepy as fuck in parts too. The only thing to be aware of it is there is no combat in the game whatsoever. You just make your way through the environments, interact with things and soak in the story.

Started playing Dick Wilde after work yesterday. It looks good and it's really fun but sheesh it's hard. I don't think I completed the first level. I had the easiest time with the shotgun and shield though, being able to block was very helpful.

i played the demo. the tracking is better in the final game (for me it is perfect). i got a green light bulb for my living room when i was playing farpoint because people said it makes psvr tracking better and that has been my experience for most games (arizona still is wobbly)

I heard Here They Lie was not very good, but the big complaints I heard were due to the sickness people experienced. I think I've grown decent VR legs, especially after Resident Evil 7 and Farpoint using free control and smooth turning. So maybe I'll pick this up and try it! Thanks!

Dreadhalls is on PSVR now? Awesome! I played it on my Gear VR but would love to have it display on the TV for guests, I'm definitely grabbing that. Brookhaven too just so I can get some Aim Controller play in.

Arizona Sunshine gets reasonably scary in the dark levels and with surround sound :D

First time hearing about any horror elements being in this, I'll check it out!

Thanks everyone!

Didn't really like the demo beyond the visuals. Is there a lot more to it than the demo suggests?
