Playtonic unveils Yooka-Laylee (Banjo Kazooie successor) [Kickstarter LIVE - Funded]

I figured Ratchet & Clank would work better for PS4 since they're coming out with a new game and movie, whereas who knows if we'll ever see anything with Jak & Daxter again.

Then Banjo and Kazooie for XBO and Donkey and Diddy Kong for Wii U.

Yeah... but look at that spin attack, it screams J&D... and this game doesn't have guns while R&C does. Plus J&D are just plain the cooler duo!!!

are the coins placeholders btw? I dont like their look much, they dont fit into the environment imo
My only complaint too. I'm sure they'll be changed when they figure out what the games macguffin will be.

Was there any reason Banjo-Kazooie used notes? Bananas make sense in a game about monkeys, but why were they musical notes in BK? I can't even remember if there was a reason.

Also, I wonder what this games version of Jiggies will by. And if there'll be Jinjos. It looks like we're already getting a Mumbo-Jumbo.

If we get this game and Banjo Kazooie 3 in the same year... I... don't know how I'll handle it...

The childhood memories. So good.

But I want the PS4 version, and a rolling DK with Diddy (or Dixie?) would be too perfect so Id need both :(

Video games got more expensive as technology improved, not cheaper.

Mostly because of increases team sizes. Nowadays, we have engines and technology available that allow a team as big as during N64 times to create a game that looks as great as Yooka-Laylee. Does it look like a low budget indie game? Not really. Looks like something that could've been made by a 50-man team during the Xbox days.

Fucking AWESOME! Can't wait to see some footage and hear a song or two off the soundtrack. Gonna have to finally beat Banjo Kazooie myself before this comes out, a lot of my time with that game was watching my older brothers beat it

EDIT: Shit, totally didn't even check out the Kickstarter video or the audio samples. My god this game is going to be great

If only I could afford "Help shape the game" I would do that.

Does anyone know if the digital deluxe versions include the consoles? Or is this only for PC? I either want this on X1 or PS4.

Mario 3D World is just too simple. It's 2D gameplay (and the levels are even timed like the 2D Mario games) on a small 3D plane. Still hanging for the big 3D Mario game on Wii U.

That's inaccurate. 3D World has sections that are 2D, but also many sections that are fully 3D... and not on a "small plane", either. In those 3D sections, the absolute biggest difference that could be credibly identified between 3D World and a game like Galaxy is that the camera is zoomed out farther.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. Wii U may be lacking a platformer of the kind you describe, but so is pretty much every platform right now.

I stopped kickstarting video games a while ago. But this one... This project looks different.

Not only do I love the N64 era Rare titles, but this team has experience. I like the fact they have already begun work and have plans to continue even without kickstarter funding.

After seeing this game in motion, I can't help but plop down some funding on this one; if for nothing else, to send today's Rare a message.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Hope the pledges don't flatline before they reach 1.000.000.

Can you guys imagine if MS actually announces a Banjo-Threeie (like rumors suggest) and both of them come out the same year? My tears will be bottled on that day.
