Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Did some nightcatching last night with the roommate around town and decided to end the night by battling at a nearby gym at a church taken over by Valor. We manage to take it over and replace it with some pretty strong pokemon and notice the car that was parked in the area leave once we managed to level it up. We ended up getting it to level four and a random person left a 1100+ CP Flareon there so we called it a night after that.

I woke up to see that it's still taken over by us but now it's a level 7 gym.

Team Mystic, motherfuckers.

Decided to give this a shot despite thinking it was corny. Apparently I have a phone without a gyroscope (Droid Maxx 2) so I can't do the AR stuff, which I thought was the most entertaining thing about it. Probably not going to continue without it. Have fun, PokePals.

Lol, i'm on iOS 10 so the AR is borked whenever I play, I don't miss it for a second.

I think the majority actually turn AR off seeing as it eats battery and makes catching more difficult.

Had to restart the app 6 times already cause every time i throw a pokeball it zooms in, but that's it. Ball doesn't move around.

I'll probably play for a bit more just to give it a fair shot, but I was a little heartbroken that I won't have any funny pictures to share.

I think I'm not gonna bother with conquering enemy gyms for a bit. The stardust/coin bonus is nice, but when it comes to gyms there's two things that occur:

1) The gym can't be realistically challenged because the trainers guarding them are regularly Lv. 15+ in the area and are packing minimum 800CP heat. Ran into a gym with a 1450CP Clefable yesterday on my evening walk, it's insane how people have leveled up so quick.

2) The 1HP glitch happens on gyms I'm confident enough to challenge every single time regardless of how slow I tap, forcing me to quit the app to end the battle and get no exp for taking out some of the team.

I'll just focus my collecting stardust by hatching eggs and experience by evolving junk pokemon in the meantime. Hopefully Niantic can improve/expand upon the gym experience in the future. Maybe battles that lower the skill level of the gym to your pokemon so you can gain exp, in exchange for not damaging the gym's reputation?

It's down for me and has been for the last few hours -can't authenticate with PTC account. Out on a decent walk at the moment too, girlfriend has a Google account and is playing with no issues.

This game has taken the small, rural college town where I live by storm! Over the weekend I saw several groups of 25 to 30 people gathering in parks, coffee shops, at stores, outside churches... everywhere. It's pretty cool to see people of all ages and their families out playing this together.

Man, I wished in a major city like the pictures posted, there is like at most one pokestop within a 10-15 minute walk. Feels bad man, I wanna do all that social stuff people are talking about

Behind my work is a graveyard that houses 6 poke-stops and a gym. I spent about 30 mins going stop to stop and then tried to battle and got owned. I am going to loose a few pounds at this rate.

Downtown Chicago aplenty!

Ok, just sideloaded the APK (Europe peasant).

I have both a pokestop and a gym available just sitting at my couch lol

Btw, the gym has a red symbol, what does this mean?

It feels like the game needs a small tutorial.

There's no blossom like icons so I guess no one is playing it around here. Expected.

So, stocking up pokemon that only take 12 or 25 candy to evolve, then popping a lucky egg (I've gotten 2 free ones from leveling up) levels you so fast.

I did levels 10-12 in about 15-20 minutes. It would've been faster but menuing to evolve pokemon isn't exactly the fastest thing. I evolved like 6 pidgeys, 5 rattatas, 2 sandshrews, and a few miscellaneous that I didn't have the evolutions of yet. Something like 20-30k exp all in all.

I'll never use Incense and Pokelure at the same time again..All its giving me is dudous over and over again....Thats like my most caught Pokemon ever.

Have we figured out why some Pokemon glow and some don't on the Pokemon screen?

One of my two Venonat are glowing, one of two Meowth, two of three Bellsprout, and others. I have found no correlation with CP, HP, weight, height, or STAB.

A red gym is owned by the valor team.

The leaves are where someone used a lure to benefit a lot of players at the spot

Does incubation work while cycling? I cycled at a really leisurely pace today and very little, if any of the distance was tracked on the incubator. Super lame given that the trailer features people cycling.
It absolutely 100% does, at 11mph or under and possibly 12mph or under. You may have run into server issues failing to update it though :(

Will be testing for 12mph on the dot later today.

Even though this is well below my standard cadence for cycling, it is still a great workout in a tough gear, and much faster than hatching them from a walking pace. A simple bike computer for watching your speed is a great buy for Go players and just in general imo. They're pretty cheap.

Can you get more incubators in-game or only from buying with IAP?

I've gotten one from levelling up, so it is possible.

I believe the blue background indicates you caught it in the last 24 hours or so.

I'm reading over and over again the FAQ to be able to understand every single thing about GO! because I want to be the very best like no one ever was.

Caught a Rapidash at around midnight last night... then a few minutes later i found a Chansey.

Both i saw while laying in bed... jumped up and ran out the door down the street to get em in the middle of the night... XD

Sadly, my daughter was asleep so no pictures with her and Chansey... lol.

I meant the green leaves, but seems liek they are pokemon spawns.

So these gyms I see are already taken? Surprised, tbh, there's one right besides my home, wonder if its someone on my same building.

Btw, my GPS seems a little buggy, keeps telling me it lost connection and although it works, it's quite slow to react.

The only mobile device I have is a tablet with no GPS, which means I sadly can't play this game, unless I use a GPS spoofer which apparently gets you banned by Niantic.

If I bought an unlocked contract-less GPS-enabled phone off Ebay, would I be able to play this game? Or does the phone NEED to have actual service from a phone provider (AT&T, Cricket, etc)? I assume it works with WiFi... right?

Ooh. The green leaves aren't even consistent if they really are spawns. I have never seen a pokemon appear from them and some people say they might be an indicator of direction to walk.

By this point, I suspect all gyms have been taken. I'd be surprised if you find one without a team already occupying it.

Does the game automatically log you in to your Google account on your Android phone or does it prompt a log in page where you can enter your account details?

I don't want to use the Google account tied to my phone but another one I have.
