Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I might have figured out a theme for my 'mons.

I took a walk around the neighborhood last night. If I take the exact same route, will it be the exact same pokemon in the exact same spots?

Is there a point to attacking a gym if you arent anywhere near the defender CP? I mean if they dont lose they dont lose meter anyway.

Is it not good to stack incense and lures?
Depends I say. Incense is a super rare commodity for me. If you're chilling in a spot with lures active and have incense to spare, it will definitely stack the effect and get you more pokes. But for me it's going to be much more valuable to use when I'm either in a hike or bike trail with no mons around, or stuck in a waiting room- places where it would be the difference between something and nothing.

I work in a remote area, 0 pokemon around, closest pokes top is about 50km away and no gyms to be found. It seems like the further away you are from pokes tops the less wild pokemon run around.

So I've noticed that Pokemon will only spawn in certain spots on my street after a couple of trips. Has it ever been random for other people, or pretty much the same thing?

These hardcore college kids are ruining my gym experience, lol. The gym down the street has TWO 1800+ Gyarados now. My highest is 1000. :(

I don't even think they realize one decent Jolteon is going to wreck their gym.

Can you kick friendly team members out of gyms? There's a gym by my house, I trained against it until the level went up and put my pokemon in the new spot. Now someone else is there. What's going on?

I live in a petty small rural Canadian town and there's at least 4 Pokestops and 3 gyms (all churches). I can see the neighborhood kids having fun with this; battling each-other and trying to maintain control of the gyms. Not too big to be impossible to gain an upper hand but not so small as to have no challenge.

This game. It isn't even officially out here yet. I went downtown today and saw tons of other people playing. Haven't really seen anything like it, all sorts of people too.

Symptoms:
  • Walking around staring at your phone
  • Stopping randomly and doing a swipe left or right
  • Quickly walking looking happy and swiping up
  • Comes often in pairs of two people

I don't. Actually I keep it in my backpack, which isn't super convenient. The Go Plus is sooo compelling to me for this reason.

This game is the best incentive I've seen for one of those handlebar phone mounts though, just to know when you're in range of something so as to stop... But I've been really hesitant to get one of those things so far. It seems like it could be dangerous to me... Then again, I've seen lots of people out riding with their phone in one hand, which is obviously worse!

Can anyone who has a mount like that weigh in and comment on safety? Maybe recommend a particular brand?

I'd actually like to put together a "Playing Pokémon Go via Bike" post. This game has basically been a dream come true for a suburban/cross-terrain cyclist like me.
Quoting this for page- I'd actually really love to hear from anyone who has used one of those mounts on the past

Ah I see, didn't realized incense was a portable pokemon spawn. Thought it just attracted everything in your nearby list.

Just checking in to see if there's any significant regional difference. My most common pokemon are:

Pidgey, Spearow, Zubat, Drowzee, Nidoran male/female

Yeah incense is roughly 1 random Pokémon per 5 minutes for thirty minutes, anywhere. Seemingly no correlation to your nearby list at all.

Might add this tidbit to the FAQ, so thank you!

Controlling gyms.
You get coins every 21 hours.

10 coins and 500 stardust per gym.

Defender bonus for gyms gets you some coins

Take control of gyms

Thank you very much for the answers. Still gotta get to Level 5 to tackle gyms.

Do you have one? Did you need anything else to evolve the Eevee other than the candy?

My Twitter feed is full of Pokémon Go even from non-gaming people/accounts. And the game isn't even officially out where I live.

I think the last Nintendo game that had this kind of exposure among the mainstream was Wii Sports/Wii Fit. Let's see if the numbers Drop like a stone after two weeks Miitomo-style or if this game has staying power.

I'm positive there is. At home I get Eevee and Clefairy up to my eyes (I've met more Eevee than Rattata!), but once I leave it's a barren wasteland of junk.

But I've never seen a Caterpie at home, but get them all the time around work. Slowpoke only seem to be around work as well.

The fuck so you live, Atlantis?
