Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

This is a game built on ingress data using assets from Pokemon XY with a grand total of 3 NPCs with only 1 advertisement for marketing, and being worked on by a fairly small dev team.

I don't know what the budget is, but it doesn't seem substantial, even for a mobile game.

The Battery saver setting is nice, but why does this not have plain old notifications? Imagine seeing "A wild Jynx appeared! Hurry!" pop up. Or even better, an apple watch companion that will tell you what and when something might be nearby.

Oh, wait. You want my to buy a $35 piece of plastic for that. Clearly I already have a watch that was too much money.

EDIT: And I lost a Bellsprout to the app freezing. Whoo.

Please build on this, guys.
 
The Bag Upgrade and Pokemon Storage Upgrade can be purchased multiple times, right?

Europe/Asia is sleeping. Game is most playable from like 8pm-Noon Eastern time, give or take.

Yeah they really need to make this app compatible with Apple Watch..It would be so goddamn convenient.
 
Do we know exactly how the Go Plus will work? All the product descriptions I've seen say it vibrates in conjunction with the phone... which says to me it works as a back up notification for when the game is dimmed in low power mode. And if pressing the button doesn't guarantee Pokemon captures, its use is really limited. How will it communicate if you've missed, and a Pokemon has run away?

Yes. I got the bag upgrade with play credit and it's available for purchase again for me.
 
Right when I was getting tired of all the Weedles, Pidgeys, and Rattatas, a Meowth decides to visit my house. Sweet.

Still haven't seen a Caterpie, though. Starting to suspect I live in the Pokemon Red version of Viridian City. :(

(Everyone is going to have beefy, maxed out Pidgeots and Raticates, aren't they.)

This makes me feel good about the Magmar I got from my first 10km egg (I have two more to hatch). Then again, I see Spearows and Psyducks everywhere, and have seen Squirtles nearby multiple times, so not sure how accurate this is for me.
 
I really wish that there was a way to discard eggs... I'm stuck with a bunch of 2 km ones and two 5 km ones, and since my egg inventory is always full, I don't have a chance to get the 10 km ones that everybody is excited about.
 
Well, apparently I just sacrificed a 5km egg to the servers. Had been walking around outside my office all day, taking quick breaks to build up the egg distance until I got home.

Get home, get the egg notification, boom. Game freezes. Can't log back in. A couple minutes later, I'm able to login long enough to see that the incubator is empty and the egg is gone. No new Pokemon in the bag.

Not overly happy right now. That was my first 5km egg, too.
 
I have yet to see a Ratatta.

Tomorrow morning I'm gonna go for a walk specifically for Eevees because fuck this I want my Jolteon.
 
Ah yes forgot a handy little tip for my fellow Android players...i'll add it to the OT tomorrow.

Google has a app called Opinion Rewards or something of that sort (a little green word bubble)

Download it and you can answer pretty quick little survey questions from time to time.

In doing so, you'll get Google Play Credit which you can in turn use on this game. I had forgotten about it after using it extensively from Avengers Academy.
 
I'm still salty about ealier. I use a incense and a wild Tangela appears. I catch it with one Poke Ball and just before it confirms that I caught it the sever dies. I lost out on 29 minutes and 29 seconds of the incense and when I logged on it shows in my Pokedex as seen and not caught.
 
I have a fealing that the NX will be something like this game. All games will have the Go on the titles. Then again i might be imagining things.
 
Servers finally are stable. Just hit level 5. Can you incubate more than 1 egg at once? Also for the "walking" do you have to leave app on for it to count distance?

I already do. I bike about 1.5 miles to work, back home for lunch most days, back to work, and then back home after that. The problem appears since I have 2 pokestops that I can pick up from my desk, so my egg inventory fills up really quick, and I have been unlucky with the eggs that drop for me. I'm just not sure why you can transfer/delete literally every other item and pokemon, but not eggs.
 
So there's a park by my house that's a pokestop so I took my son on a bike ride up there, and sure enough 2 teens walked outta the trail by the park looking at there phones. They told me where all the gyms were in our small town. So tomorrow I'm gonna go on a nice bike ride and capture a gym. Also just finished a walk with my kids, drinking beer trying to hatch my first egg.
 
Is there a good way of knowing where to go on the nearby pokemon? There's a ponyta and staryu nearby but I really don't feel like going out wandering around this late. The feet symbols don't really say what direction to go.

I believe there's a speed cap where the game stops tracking your distance if you're moving faster than the cap. In their previous game, Niantic put the cap at 35 MPH, I think?
 
The more I play, the more I like this game. Just hit level 9 and pumped up my Golbat to about 600 CP. Thinking about going out with my dog before bed to hatch some eggs and hopefully get some Eevees.

I don't think it counts movement that is too fast. Didn't work for me today. And some people said it didn't work when they were jogging
