Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I just walked around my neighborhood and it was pretty crazy, multiple groups of people walking around hunting down Pokemon and fighting for gyms.

I'd never done a gym battle and found one in a secluded area with a weak defender so I walked over and took over the gym. Within a minute a guy rides by on a bike, yells "I saw what you did!" and rides over to take it back. I walked over to talk to him and a few other guys on bikes showed up, they were riding around trying to secure all the local gyms for red team.

How do you pick which Pokemon you want to fight with? Every time I try to take a gym it feels like I'm presented with six random Pokemon in a random order. I've seen tips to lead with weaker Pokes so you don't waste as many Potions on the ones that count but can't figure out how to order them.

Highlights for today, managed to catch a Clefairy which i have never seen before and hatched a 229 CP Bulbasaur out of a 5km egg.

So is evolving your starter supposed to be just a beleaguered, lengthy process? Because I've yet to see a single starter in the wild. The closest I've gotten is seeing their silhouette on the list of nearby Pokémon, but that's it. It just seems like evolving your starter will take years at the rate it's going for me.

I started with Charmander. Never seen another. Bulbasaur and Squirtle are at 3 a piece now though lol.

New at this. Whats this CP rating? Just general strength? I can upgrade mons but seems like I should only do it for copies than have higher base CP?

How do I get more stardust?

I hope they fix some of these glitches soon. Ran into three today that screwed me over. Apparently if you get the no GPS message during the poke ball throw animation the entire game freezes up.

Do I want to walk around in a dimly lit area at 1:17AM for what is definitely a Pigeot?

Nevermind: completely disappeared

Just put on pants, got of bed, and walked down the street at 1 AM when I saw a Pikachu was nearby. Got that fucker, so worth it.

What's with all the people riding bikes now, hahaha! All these stories make those people sound like Pokemon NPCs

CP is general strength yeah.

You get more stardust by catching Pokemon.

So maybe I'm missing something, but the reward system for gyms is fucking lame

The rewards don't take into account how long you maintained control of the gym. All that matters is that you have control of some gyms at the exact moment you plan on redeeming your pokecoin reward for the shop.

In big cities like LA it's a fucking accomplishment to maintain control of a gym for 20 hours or really any prolonged period of time. But the reward is identical if you were to mantain control for 5 seconds and then redeem.

Like I said, maybe I'm missing something?

Yeah it should scale on how contested it is or something.

Charmanders are pretty rare right? Just got home from long walk and was about to relax but just noticed a charmander 3 footsteps away...

My local bar gives 2 dollar shots to anyone who's on the team that owns the gym right next to them.

Everything's just better now.

Literally walked by 6 people on my way back from the gym playing, and it's about a 1/2 mile walk (albeit in a decently busy area). Jesus christ. This game is everywhere.

I was about to go to sleep until I noticed someone defeated my gym at the park. Walking my Vaporeon back to the park to stop that gym.
It's 2 am... I'm an idiot.

It is early morning Saturday here, and the game died already, last two days I could play without issue till 7-8 in th evening, welp, and it seams that 10 gyms is the hard limit for which you get coins and spacedust? :(
