Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

those upside down teardrop Pokeball thingies that go with this app.

Speaking of those, I wonder how likely it is for Niantic to add Apple Watch functionality at some point down the road? The $35 bracelet thing sounds interesting enough, but I already own this accessory that's supposed to work with apps and I paid ten times that much for it!

I'm fucking confused about these gyms. I'm team red, I went to a red gym, I had to fight three of his guys and lost on the third. Why! Why did I only have one? How do I train my guys in the gym? How do I take a gym!?

WHATS GOING ON

If you're red and you went to a red gym then you were sparring. As far as I know you can;t take over a gym one of your teammates has, you can only add one of your Pokemon so the person challenging the gym will have to fight even more Pokemon to take it over.

Problem is the App doesn't like that at all. It only vibrates whenever a Pokémon is nearby. And since there are no notifications the app is worthless while in sleep mode.
You can still wear headphones and listen to music though. Disable in game music and you'd be fine.

Servers keep going down making it nearly impossible to play and for sure a waste of time. What a terrible launch.

I think the problem is that this was too good of a launch. The app isn't even available in the UK as far as I know yet there are gyms occupied everywhere.

This guy is getting a lot of people walking...

America has spent billions of dollars trying to fight the obesity epidemic, when all we needed was a free Pokémon app.

Indeed!

I can relate, I just took the bike this afternoon, but I prefered riding through town and stopping to catch pokemon and check pokestops. I don't think I'd have had the courage to do back&forths on a hundred meters x)

Worth it though, I've opened 2 eggs within an hour !

I usually skate around this really nice hill back and forth. If you go too fast it won't keep track of your steps taken, try to keep that in mind when hatching eggs.

I did this yesterday too! You have to ride slow, like less than 10km/hour, and the eggs hatch real fast. 10km eggs gave me Magmar, Electabuzz and Aerodactyl so far and they come with so many (24, 24 and 19 respectively) candies!

I work at UPS in the morning, so my job in itself requires an immense amount of walking. I just turn power saver mode on and leave the game running in my back pocket. I can normally hatch a 5km egg at the end of my shift! :)

The music gets disabled anyway, that's not the problem. The problem is the only indication for a nearby Pokémon is vibration (in case GO is the only app running audio) and that means I'll always have to have my hand on my phone.

I realized another audio source doesn't really solve the problem though lol.

Got in for a few minutes, but it was "lagging", where the game slows to a stop, and a Metapod I was gunning for stayed in the ball and never shook for capture.

It beeps. It's pretty loud. I never feel the vibration and I can hear it clearly over my music.

Yep. Lost many balls trying to catch a Raticate because of that, and lost a Venomoth to it later.

Finally done with work and want to go hit the local gym but I can't connect. Was fine all day when I checked it out periodically. Now that I'm ready to play, it's not letting me. Why Gaf, why!?

Got in for a few minutes, spotted and Pokemon walked over to it. Game started lagging out and the encounter never triggered. Game crashed. Servers down.

Lol

when the game isnt open? how
Why not just leave the game open? I'm confused about this. Leave the game on, put headphones on, disable in game music but leave sound effects on, start your song or podcast of choice, put phone in pocket, and go on about your day. Am I missing something?

The lure modules are so brilliant. I keep seeing these pictures of the people meeting up and going whoa, and then realizing that if I saw any of the ones nearest to me lit up I'd get on my bike and head there right away.

It's also sort of funny to think about all the people today who are running around the real world and can't play a videogame because of server issues. I mean I know it's really frustrating to the individual user but just the human behavior this is all exhibiting is so interesting.

When I go out and do something active and the server is acting up and can't really interact or progress anything, I try to remind myself that the exercise was the actually valuable part, not the Pokémon. XD

I go to the gym to exercise. I go to the park to catch pokemon, load up on supplies and capture gyms :p

With the all the travelling I've done today, I haven't seen anything other than Pidgeys, Venonats and Ratatas. Still haven't been able to stop at a shop, and I'm still only level 3 so I can't go to the gyms. :/

Got out the house at 11:30 PM trying to find the nearby ponyta. Walked a block down, before deciding to head back so I can take the car instead. Turns out it was in my backyard. Got out again at midnight trying to find the bulbasaur. Walked multiple blocks late night but it seems to be in my neighbor's backyard. I wasn't going to go that far...yet.

How is this app grossing so much if no one can get on? How much money would they be raking in if the servers weren't on fire?
