Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Anyone from North East UK playing this? Is it decent for around here?

Usually stuff like this is terrible in our region

The game is barely playable right now, opening it up to other countries before they have that fixed would just piss people off more.

I know a lot of people playing through the use of APKs though. I would imagine that the difference between those who wait for it and those who have already started can't be that bad since people went crazy when they found out it was out in the states already

I love discovering new fun pics about this game XD

Gave this game another shot now that I'm back home. Wild grass appeared in front of one of my neighbors home. By the time I got there, it wasn't there anymore. Wait a while and it shows up again, but I can't click on it. Start pacing back and forth trying to get it to work properly. I look up and notice that the owner of the house is looking at me through the blinds with a cellphone in her hand.

I don't think playing Pokemon Go in my neighborhood is a good idea. Only two spots showed up, the one I mentioned and another one in one of my neighbors backyard. Maybe this is better if you live in a city or something.
Don't worry about that grass, it's not worth going after in particular because it's not guaranteed. Use your nearby tracker and yeah, watch out for you know going into peoples' yards.

I just hit a 10km egg. Is that a long distance one?
yup, I've seen people get good stuff out of them.

There's probably some merit to saving eggs until you're a higher character level... I wonder.

563 CP Magmar (courtesy of a 10km egg and the 30+ candies it brought with it... RIP my Stardust, but it was worth it). Gyms watch the hell out.

That's what they should have done, completely outsourced the server infrastructure to one of the cloud giants. For something of this scale that would kinda have been like making them a business partner buuuut clearly this was a bit of a reality check for Niantic's operation based on what they had experienced with Ingress.

I headed down to a pokestop by a lake and used a lure in the hopes to catch a bunch of water Pokemon and the only water type to show up was a single Krabby. But hey Eevee (I caught two) might evolve into Vaporeon and I'm now over a fifth of the way to Kingler. I gotta think positive!

I got a 10km egg from the Pokestop too! I have my fingers crossed that it will hatch into an Electabuzz or Aerodactyl. I'd also be happy with a Snorlax or Farfetch'd.

I'm gonna try a pokestop lure at the harbor in the city tomorrow so hopefully I have better luck.

I have a CP 120 Rhyhorn and 3 cnadioes. Should I power him up?

I have 19 for a CP 51 Ekans.

I am level 5 and haven't used anything yet but I'm wondering if i should wait.

That's kind of weird. I live about 20 minutes from Cleveland in a small suburb and there's lots of Pokemon that appear here (when I say lots, I mean regular Pidgey, Rattata, etc)

I've found that sometimes being still makes them pop up. Other times, I've noticed them pop up while I'm driving in random people's backyards and stuff out the development we live in.

Well, I had an opportunity to go into town to deal with some bank stuff so I made a Google account and...

Well, at least Pokemon are finally appearing. I was seriously wondering if my phone just didn't let them or something. Sucks that even around the bank, churches, restaurants, and Gamestop the map is barren of any Pokestops for the most part. Did get a stop at the firestation though.

Is there a way to submit Pokestops like Ingress? Looks like both the nearest town and my rural neck of the woods severely need them to make this game viable in any way.

how do i put eggs in incubator?

btw my local poke stop is my front door haha, i share a wall with the local park, and our gym is on my street. Will be laziest GO player ever, im in uk and dodged bullets to get GO, i have a headstart :p

I'd like to know the egg thing too. I just got my first egg from a PokeStop but it won't let me do anything with my incubator in my inventory. Do you have to be a minimum level to use it?

lmao i can access my local pokestop from my bedroom. GG

click the pokeball button, then open up the list of pokemon you have, top right of the overview of your pokemon it will say something like eggs 1, top right, click it, click the egg you want and incubate it than start walking.

IMO Unless you're trying specifically to contend with a gym like before you leave the area, I would save the candies, and use them to Evolve those things rather than power them up. CP only matters during gym battles, whereas your character level affects lots of things and evolving also gives you XP (in addition to raising the CP of the original somewhat).

I don't think Nintendo wanted it to be this successful, especially not this soon.

There was no announcement of a launch date. Not really any marketing outside of a trailer released over a year ago.

This is a game that's not being made by Game Freak, and being made outside of Japan, but has the potential to have more impact on the mainstream than the mainline games.

This is a game made for the 20th anniversary of Pokemon , but Sun and Moon are also releasing this year.

In someways this game accomplishes what the mainline games can't/haven't been able to.

I don't think there's been a game in a more awkward position than Go.

Cool thanks. I really want that Arbok.

My two nearby Gyms are same team (Team Red/Moltres/Valor because best logo)

They're both lead by Hypno's...I'm tempted to put in my Jynx and Magnemite to power them up...

As much as I want to use my 400+CP Hypno it becomes kinda moot when there are already Hypno's there.

Very few companies nowadays spin up their server farm. They are definitely using someone's service and maybe the CTO found out that they're using theirs.

Go to the Eggs inventory screen under Pokemon. There you can choose an egg and put it in an incubator.

Went to my local park, where there are not only one, but THREE Pokemon Gyms within short distance of each other, one of which is at the Veterans Memorial. I couldn't challenge any of them at the time, but I've since powered up my Pidgeotto, which now has a CP of 193. Also:

Found a church 2 miles from my house that's an unclaimed gym and has 3 Pokestops in it's cemetary. And it's on my commute route.

Feels good man.

And apparently there's a Kingler near where I work..

So I noticed people saying your surroundings matter but does it have to be natural? Like, if I fill my bathtub with water will that increase the chance of getting a water Pokemon in my house?

If I go to a Psychic will I have a higher chance to catch a psychic Pokemon?

Well I imagine they are using a private datacenter if that's what you mean, I don't think Niantic is housing a bunch of physical boxes at their headquarters or anything. But I doubt they're contracting with Amazon. I think he was making a cheeky joke, sort of a subtle promotion of his product if you get me?
