Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Amazing how popular this game is. There was a car with 6 people in it stationed next to a gym staring me down, probably trying to beef it up from attacks.

On the way to the park, 5 kids just walking staring down at their phones.

At the park, 90% of the people there were playing it. One guy staring at his phone walking his dog, a couple who bumped into us asking what we caught, a group of kids notifying us that there were two PokeStops and two gyms a mile down the river, and random people walking past staring at their phones too.

Pretty surreal.

Wow. I think I lost 3 hours in this game when I wanted to do an hour walk.

Gym battles still suck more or less; I practically won but that 1 hp glitch thing wouldn't let me. Did another and won. Assigned my Arbok to it, which was a mistake kind of because it was my strongest Pokemon so far (406 CP).

Got up to Level 10. Close to evolving a Growlithe. Missed my chance to catch Jigglypuff, but got this beforehand:

Going to try a park or downtown, so I'm hoping there aren't as many server issues as today.

I just crushed every gym near my apt, and left a ton of never used and surely forgotten Pidgeots to guard my territory.

I'm in Stow for a wedding, you're killing me. I need to make it to Cleveland sometime and hit up pokestops. I'm sure gyms will be too overwhelming. The area of Lorain where I live is absolutely barren. I think next weekend I'm going to check out by the lake and see if I can catch, what is it you need?, 134 Magikarp toward a Gyarados.

Saw about 5 customers at buc-ees (gas station ) playing this game when I went in to use the restroom. My friend who hasn't played Pokemon since we were kids has been texting me about this game. It's blowing up on my FB feed and some of these friends are not gamers. This ap is going to be huge as long as it keeps getting new content. It was genius for Nintendo to only include the original 150 since a good portion of people who jumped into Pokemon Go haven't touched the franchise since Pokemon yellow. No need to overwhelm them with the 500+ More Pokemon that have released since then. They can be slowly added in time. I thought Miitomo or Go would blow up, and it looks like Go is the people's choice. Now the real work begins for Nintendo because they'll have to find a way to maintain this apps popularity and not have it turn into a fad like trivia crack or candy crush.

Just started today, this is lots of fun. Even my girlfriend who never played Pokemon likes it. And I ran into two other people I know who I never would have expected to play it who were having fun. Got myself a couple eggs, and about 12 Pokemon, including a 152 Pinsir that's pretty cool. I'm super jealous of some of the crazy high level Pokemon you guys have, though! Hopefully the game continues to develop, because it seems to be a hit so far.

Hah yeah, I managed to evolve a Jolteon this evening, was a solid 100-150 CP above any of my other pokes. Set it up at a gym down here near Akron, and the next one I got to was being tag-teamed by a Pidgeotto and Eevee. Would have ate them for lunch if my Jolteon was still with me but alas, I had to leave that gym standing.

I've had a handful of Ghastly's show up on my PokeRadar which could obviously be evolved. No Haunters or Gengars though.

Mfw so many Cleveland bros on here.

A buddy of mine was up on the lake today and surprisingly found nothing. Maybe he just wasn't looking too hard lmao

Is there any benefit leaving the game open while I'm not moving around, at home?

Like will it occasionally ping a Pokemon that I can catch, or do I need to be moving around?

Nintendo isn't actively involved here. This is a TPCi/Niantic production.

The gyms are a little rough around downtown but the further you get away the easier they get. I'm planning an extended lunch on Monday to walk down by the lake in an attempt to shred enough Magikarp for a Gyrados. I saw literally hundreds of people in downtown Cleveland walking around and playing the game, I can only imagine what will happen during the Republican National Convention.

If you ever decide to nickname it, you can always go with False Prophet or Solareon if you're familiar with TPP.

Went on a walk in our pitch black neighborhood. There was a group of four teenagers walking and talking. A normal occurrence on a Friday night.

Then I hear it. That noise. You know the one. Suddenly one of the teens phones lights up and my suspicions are confirmed. These teens are walking around playing this game.

I can't believe the number of people playing this.

Went for a run earlier today but the servers went down so I came home with zero pokes. I was ready to just give up.

Later in the evening it was back up and I noticed a pokestop near me had pink petals on it.
Still in pjs I decided to venture out. As I approached the baseball diamond that was this pokestop I saw a number of other people already there. It was amazing, As i sat there on the dug out bench catching all the critters that popped up another three couples came up to the stop. This is amazing and I love this.

Is XS variants a bad thing? My highst CP Pidgie is xs in both categories and I have enough to evo it. Should I evo the weaker version that aren't xs?

I need to go downtown, is there a lot going on downtown? Like pokestops and gyms?

What level are you? I feel like I should hold off on evolving until I'm higher level.

As someone who doesn't play this, I'm curious: how does the game decide where to spawn these pokemon things? Does it make sure to pick public areas or is "get off my lawn" going to be more frequently heard?

Lots to do and TONS of people walking in groups and setting up lures. It's a great time to be alive.

I was level 9 when I evolved mine. I went from level 4 to level 9 on my walk all from catching/transferring/evolving pokemon. All those pidgey candies helped to create my army of Pidgeots and gave me enough XP to get to level 9.

This is neåt. not sure if it's been posted

Nah, that's off a bit. I had two Snorlax during beta and I already have picked up one during release. They're just hard to level up because they're rather uncommon.

Strange thing is I picked all three of them up while at the same location, but at different times. My secret Snorlax hiding place... mwa ha ha...

Just ran into a wild Seaking and Pidgeot in a grocery store (and other stores in the strip mall) parking lot. Finally got some use out of those berries. And caught like 6 other more common pokemon. I said hot damn.

One more Venonat for a Venomoth and a couple more Eevees until evolution, hell yes!

Servers have been stable for me a couple of hours now. Good sign? Maybe they've got a handle on things.

Of course, I'm just sitting here working on a project and not actually making any progress in the game.

I think the best pokemon so far I have used against gyms is aerodactyl, because flying makes it move quick and still has rock type. I mean water types are rare as hell
