Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Download ingress and check around if you want. I don't know if they added extra locations besides the stuff on ingress, but it might give you an idea.

I assume the real-life Pokemon Center stores are gyms or stops at least, so they probably added those.

The temple is a "portal key", whatever that means. Couldn't get into Ingress when I'm thinking about Pokémon, gonna whip out the 3DS instead.

It's been nice the past couple of days here in my part of the UK. This morning I can finally log in using my Trainer Account and it starts to piss it down. Typical. :\

After trading gets implemented, Pokémon with broken height/weight might be worth something. Or specific numbers, like 6.66kg.

Ediy: 4.20kg Oddish, anyone?

Realizing that you can see when gym battles are taking place live by the effects just made for one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a game.

I was watching in real time as, for about an hour and a half, three gyms within range of me were going nuts in some kind of turf war, which I may have only seen the edge of. It started possibly with some Instinct player moving west and trying to at least damage as many enemy gyms as possible, then, like, counter attacks were happening, then reinforcements in the form of training the prestige back up to shore up losses or dig into a newly acquired gym, then three gyms were lighting up at once, then all of a sudden two Valor players just sweep in and work together to reclaim a gym stolen by Instinct, and by the end of the night what was this morning a solid block of high level blue with a tiny bit of yellow is now two feeble blue gyms that could easily be taken out and a single red separating them.

This was all happening like within a few blocks or less frome me. One was just around the corner.

God that was cool.

Oh man, thanks for sharing, I love reading stories about this game and yeah that's really pretty cool feature. Players coming to pvp gyms and responding to them is so damn nice!

I have this muk.

The only problem for those waiting is that the people who have gotten the app via apk will be capturing Gyms and beefing them up with stronger Pokèmon.

This'll mean there'll be a bunch more grinding on the part of newer players to get up to a level where they can join in normally.

Somewhere out there is a lonely Charmander who might die if you don't help it...

So do you evolve as soon as possible or are you supposed to raise cp first? Any breakdown of this system?

My advice on this - as far as I can tell max CP is determined by your trainer level, not by individual Pokemon. The higher you level, the higher you can train your Pokemon's CP. However, each Pokemon starts at a different CP point.

So! Let's say you want a Pidgeotto. You need 25 Pidgey Candies, and one Pidgey to evolve. Don't train anything until AFTER evolving, and every time you catch a new Pidgey, compare it to your current Pidgey, and transfer the one with the weakest CP to the Professor for an extra Pidgey Candy each time you do this. Once you have enough Candy to evolve, you'll also be left with the strongest Pidgey you caught, lowering the amount of Stardust and Candy you need to train it to its highest CP afterwards. From that point on (to get to a Pidgeot) you're best sticking to the Pidgeotto since he's now a 25 Candy investment. Though you could of course keep catching Pidgeys before evolving into a Pidgeotto until you have enough Candies to go straight into a Pidgeot in one go (75 Candies).

Do weights mean anything? Stats wise or anything like that

Not as far as I can tell. Maybe with dodging or attack speed or something along that line, since that's the only thing I haven't tested in some form.

Edit: Caught a Blastoise. It's hilarious seeing 5-6 people hanging out in the parking lot at 6AM to get a Pokemon.

Thanks for that mate.

GAF I need help. I have a Galaxy A5 and when I turn on AR Mode to try and catch a pokemon in real world they just turn invisible. For fun I tried throwing a ball and it indeed catched a pokemon where nothing was in my screen. Is that a bug? How can I see them, please help

Passed a guy with phone in hand, clearly playing Go as I walked to work this morning. At 5:55am. That's dedication.
I sat with 30+ people next to two PokeStops with the attraction stuff on it. Everyone screaming as new Pokemon appeared. It was weird. Haha

Any idea how Gym battles work? I did a few earlier but they were weird. I got the enemy Pokemon to what looked like 1 health then he cleared all 5 remaining Pokemon. Couldn't kill him for so many attacks. Not sure if it was bugged.

Also is there a point to dodging? Seems impossible to do.

Am I the only person who hates AR mode? I always keep that shit off

Yeah I usually switch it off until I get curious. Pokemon jitter around too much on my phone (Galaxy S6) for it to look better than the cartoon environments. Saves battery too =)

Phone goes "bzz"...minute later have a 213 hypno. :)

Awesome! Hypno was the very first Pokemon I caught after the starter. He was in my hotel room, and Drowzees kept spawning in the hotel afterwards. Loved that touch!

A friendly reminder people, you should not wander to parks at night ^^;

I was just at a pokestop where someone had dropped a lure. Probably 5-6 cars in the parking lot at midnight, cops roll up two cruisers deep. I hear him start talking to cars, then he goes out in the middle of the lot and then "Are you ALL here for Pokemon?" He came over to my car, asked me about the game, then told us that town parks are closed after dark. As we were pulling out another cruiser pulled in. Slow night I guess.

What is up with all these heavy boned Eevee?
Mine is an XL too!
Caught all these when I was going to 'get groceries really quick'. Horsea, Charmander, Paras, Caterpie, Weedle, Spearow and a Metapod aren't listed in the image.
Dewgong was in the middle of a busy shopping street. Would escape from several Pokéballs so I was glad when I finally caught him as people were wondering wtf was up with me.

Wondering if there are more water Pokémon if I go to the harbour. I did catch several water types on dry land though, so I'm not sure if it's worth the 40 km trip lol.

Just gone on a 3 hour walk around my town catching everything in sight. Bumped into numerous people wandering around playing, including a small crowd at the gym at our town's biggest landmark. Pretty crazy.

Uh so I got the 1hp gym glitch and now I can't challenge gyms at all? It says battle go...and then cuts out to show me the gym Pokemon again?

Chased a Bulbasaur around for 20 minutes with no luck ughhhh

Just got back after a 2 hour bike, that was tons of fun

All my city gyms are already taken tho, damn u android users

That's a great way to loose weight, I read on Reddit that some people walked between 10 and 30 km already! I can't wait for the game to be released in France, I want also a motivation to go out XD

24.7kms here. Although the GPS does bug out at my place and has me moving from time to time so the real number is a bit less, prolly still close to 20km though.

downloaded this today (UK) but still not quite sure what i am doing. i caught a squirtle and it says there is a pokestop just across the road from my house at the local park entrance. there are a couple gyms in there too.

do i just walk about catching pokemon, restock at pokestops, and fight at gyms? how do i train my pokemon? does the app only work when it's open or is it constantly running in the background?

Anyone have an idea why this game freezes with cellular service at 80 Mbps? Works fine when I'm connected to wifi at the same speed....

I wonder who're the idiots on Reddit who made snarky remark to Amazon guy. That person was like any other player, wanting to help to get smooth gameplay.

Guys, this was not intended as a snark, joke, rip or self-promotion. I just want people (including myself) to play given how much fun it is. We have some experience in running big software systems that need to scale and just want to help.

Update for the skeptics: yes I am @werner, not Amazon PR. I have the same username on Instagram.

I did 10km this morning alone

I'll probably head out again later today when it's less hot, i'm loving this

And tomorrow i'm going hiking with some friends, can't freakin wait

I installed this earlier and took a 2h stroll around. Weedles... Weedles everywhere. So I guess now I am a bug catcher. Best pokemon I found was a 138 cp Beedrill. I came across a 143 cp Pidgeotto but it ran after 1 try. Even though it's not out yet here in Finland, some people have claimed local gyms to glorious team blue.

Edit: also this place has a lot of very small playgrounds.

Btw the battery on my Iphone6 got down to 51% after after just 2 hours of the app being always open

Gotta buy some portable chargers i guess

Unfuckingprecedented.

I just installed the app then went on a 1km walk around my neighborhood. I never fucking take walks, ANYWHERE.

Nintendo what is this

I know right? I have lived in my current apartment 4 years and this was my first casual walk around the area.

Caught a wild Squirtle, awesome.

15 minutes walking around before grocery shopping. I think i´ll actually go hunting tomorrow morning, too hot already outside.

Vienna, Austria, so it seems to work fine, in regions where it´s not out yet, at least here.
